Or trade him for a player based on similar potential. I don't know of any other players with similar potential that are going to be traded for Prior. They flat out don't exist. There won't be an exact match, but if he's traded for any value now, it will likely be a situation where both teams are hoping on potential, whether it's prospect potential, return from injury potential, or something like that. I too can't think of anyone who fits the bill, with the exception of listing minor leaguers or such. One example could be a Prior for Gavin Floyd deal. Floyd has dissapointed in Philly and some wonder if he will ever do anything. Of course, he was highly touted at one time. Like Prior, he could regain what made others view him as so talented or he could never find it. It's a big risk. Another example could be Oliver Perez. Is he as bad as he's been or can he be as good as he once was? Those are just two off the top of my head.
