  1. Wouldn't losing Pierre or Ramirez raise that though?
  2. According to this, the Phillies are prepared to offer Soriano a 5/80 contract. That's 16 million per year for those scoring at home. Soriano may get that 17 million a year after all.
  3. The Mets will ask for Howry or Wuertz.
  4. Every time you show that picture, I want to kill you just a little bit more. Where is Vance's right hand in that picture? I'm injecting Sammy. With confidence! And Sosa's left hand? injecting Vance Where is that picture taken? Sammy has a nice shirt. That was outside the Astrodome in either 96 or 97.
  5. I saw some kids dressed as clutch hitters tonight. They were trick-or-treating with the elves, wizards, and vampires.
  6. Sorry, I have better things to do. I'm watching Lord of the Rings, which surprisingly seems more realistic.
  7. I love fairies, gnomes, dragons, unicorns, and other mystical creatures!
  8. Or trade him for a player based on similar potential. I don't know of any other players with similar potential that are going to be traded for Prior. They flat out don't exist. There won't be an exact match, but if he's traded for any value now, it will likely be a situation where both teams are hoping on potential, whether it's prospect potential, return from injury potential, or something like that. I too can't think of anyone who fits the bill, with the exception of listing minor leaguers or such. One example could be a Prior for Gavin Floyd deal. Floyd has dissapointed in Philly and some wonder if he will ever do anything. Of course, he was highly touted at one time. Like Prior, he could regain what made others view him as so talented or he could never find it. It's a big risk. Another example could be Oliver Perez. Is he as bad as he's been or can he be as good as he once was? Those are just two off the top of my head.
  9. Or trade him for a player based on similar potential.
  10. Outfielders are rated with 1b and DH. Secondbasemen are rated with SS and 3B.
  11. Someone should tell Moore to get ready in case Hendry botches the Ramirez negotiations.
  12. If we don't do one or the other, we should blow it up and play for 2008.
  13. We should've kept Walker. The compensation when he left would be better than the garbage we received for him.
  14. If Aramis leaves, the Cubs might as well sell off Zambrano. There isn't much need for an impact starter on a crappy team. If the Cubs don't add any significant players AND lose Aramis, what will be Zambrano's inspiration to sign an extension on a sinking ship? Agreed. A Zambrano trade could rebuild the top levels of the Cubs minor league system as well.
  15. Jones like Soriano has to prove he can play CF. I think Soriano has the better tools to play CF over Jones. As far as Lee, how long till he eats himself into playing DH/1B? He's not that much better than M. Ramirez right now defensively. Speaking of, is there any chance of acquiring Ramirez this offseason?
  16. According to the Washington Post, Pat Burrell said he would only waive his no-trade clause to go to a contender. I wonder if the Cubs would fit that description....I wouldn't think so. Link. http://www.rotoworld.com adds this commentary: It seems as if we might have to mark Burrell off the list of options.
  17. This article implies that the posting process begins Wednesday for Matsuzaka.
  18. I like what I'm reading about Moore. A Blalock comparison is nice!
  19. What will this do to the value of Olin's baseball cards?!?!?
