  1. Well, the Nats just let Tom Pacoriek (sp?) go, so this wouldn't surprise me. Stone can let everyone know that if Patterson can throw a slider low and away with two strikes, he'll be able to get the next hitter out.
  2. Zito may want to be re-united with Peterson in NY. Furthermore, the money should be there for him in NY.
  3. If I win tonight's powerball, I'm buying the team and moving them to Monroe.
  4. The more I read on Perry, the more I like him. I think it's clear that Piniella's staff is going to be more prepared and hard-working than the previous regime.
  5. While Zito is younger and likely a better bet for a long-term deal, Schmidt is better.
  6. I think there is a drop off between the talent of Matsuzaka and Igawa.
  7. I really like that Moore's OBP is 100 points higher than his average.
  8. Wow...Walker continues to tumble. What looked to be a promising line two weeks ago is dismal now.
  9. According to the SF Chronicle (Link) I'd have preferred Chambliss, but does anyone know much about Perry and his philosophies. I guess it's good he's coming from Oakland, but other than that, what do we know about him?
  10. Maybe Hendry is planning to get creative and move Jones to CF. A Sheffield/Jones/Murton outfield would lack defensively, but would be moderately productive. If the Cubs keep Ramirez, they could look to upgrade at 2b (Soriano/Durham) or SS (Lugo) and be a better club offensively. What I fear is that the Cubs will acquire Sheffield for LF, move Murton to the bench, and still pursue a CF. For the record, I'd rather sign Alou than trade for Sheff.
  11. Anyone know what time the show starts? My flight arrives at 8:09 PM that night. I might could make it.
  12. I could throw a TE in the deal if something else came back. I'd be willing to offer Gates or Winslow with a WR to get Brees. Well, normally that might swing the deal; however I'm pretty well set with Shockey (he's already had his bye week) and I'd have nowhere to play them. Alright. Well, if you change your mind swing me an offer.
  13. I could throw a TE in the deal if something else came back. I'd be willing to offer Gates or Winslow with a WR to get Brees.
  14. That'll do it. Also, once the hot stove heats up, I type in the name of every FA I'm interested in seeing what's happening.
  15. He still sucks. Buyer beware. Wherever he goes, he'll post a 95-100 ERA+ at the best.
  16. I'll give you Terry Glenn or Lee Evans or Galloway for Brees.
  17. He's played 15 games total in the outfield. I doubt he's an everyday solution in CF. Fukudome or bust, Vance. I really wish Fukudome would get posted. Furthermore, if Fukudome is ever a Cub, that is one jersey I'm sure to own.
  18. The Cubs really need pitching, so I hope this isn't the case. 21 mil + Arod's salary is a HUGE number to pay for Arod. That money would be best spent spread around more. Matsuka + Soriano > Arod. Plus, what a cool 1-2 punch: Fear the Zambrano / Matusuaka combo! That's one way to look at it. But Arod also is a proven commodity while Matsuzaka isn't. I'm sure in a deal like that, there could be other parts moving between the teams with Matsuzka's rights and Arod being the principals. I wouldn't mind having Matsuzaka, that's for certain. I also wouldn't complain if we traded his rights for Arod either.
  19. I can still see the Cubs winning the bid and then trading his rights for Arod. In essence, the Cubs would pay the Yankees 21 million for Arod. Considering Boras is the agent for Daisake and Rodriguez, would this be too far-fetched?
  20. I'd rather gamble with Marshall, Marmol, and Mateo than spend any money on Marquis.
  21. My guess is Ramirez will get a 6/96 deal with limited no-trade protection. Hell, he might even get another opt-out clause.
  22. Plane ticket is purchased and I have a reservation at the Essex. I can always cancel if I learn of a better hotel option. Any tips or reccomendations with be greatly appreciated.
  23. I'm trying to be optimistic regarding Ramirez, but the longer it drags on, the harder that becomes.
  24. Bears, Plz beat the Giants. Sincerely, Cowboys Fan
