  1. Bonderman might still be traded, but there was no way the Yankees would have gotten him for Sheffield. I've seen on some Reds message boards a Bonderman for Dunn proposal.
  2. Moore is still doing well, but I'd like to see him slugging a bit higher.
  3. Time keeps ticking.....just a matter of hours before the Angels can offer Ramirez a 6/96 deal. So, I guess we can make good use of the Angels' first round draft pick.
  4. Sosa has a valid point. There's never been any evidence linking him to usage. Other than his sudden increase in performance, there's been nothing but circumstantial evidence linking him to using PED's.
  5. Based on performance, I think it is accurate to say Hendry is a failure as a GM. The results aren't there.
  6. So, do you think Encarncion is on the bench? There are rumblings he's out the door because he's fallen out of favor with management. The fact that he didn't even show up to the WS celebration speaks volumes. Does he have much trade value? He hit 278/317/443 last year. The OBP is bad, while the average is respectable. His OPS+ was 94 which is really bad for a corner OF. He still has 2 years and 11.5 million left on the contract. My guess is the Cardinals may have to eat some of that to move him.
  7. A little over 8 hours before Ramirez days as a Cub are over.
  8. Arkansas could have survived a loss before today-now can't they lose to both Tennessee and LSU, as long as they beat Miss State? That would leave them tied, and Arkansas would have the tiebreaker-but maybe its a 3 team tiebreaker thing that I've missed. I'm not sure how the 3 way tiebreaker works, but should Arkansas lose to LSU and UT, LSU wins their other 2 easy games, and Auburn beats Bama, then they'd all have 2 losses with each team 1-1 against the others. I'm thinking Arkansas splits their 2 hard games making this moot. You're likely right. But neither Tennessee nor LSU will be an easy game. Arkansas should be able to win one of those. If they do, they'll go to the SEC championship game. But, if they lose both, I'm not sure how the tie-breaker would work.

No, if Arkansas loses to both Tennesee and LSU, they will have two SEC loses just like LSU will have.
  10. Georgia is an up and down team. This isn't the same Auburn team I saw play earlier this year. I'm not sure what happened to them. Arkansas is definitely in the driver's seat, but they still have to win against Tennessee and LSU. They can lose one of those, but not both.
  11. I don't see why the second team doesn't get a chance to sign him if the first team that wins the bidding doesn't. For example...if Boston offers 10 per year for 4 years and he says no, the Yanks have to offer at least 20% more than Boston to get him to make it fair so the player doesn't just sign with the team he wants to. Because agents would use this as an under the table way to make the player a FA. A team like the Yankees could low ball the bid knowing they would just offer the player more money.
  12. Vince pisses me off all the time! :lmao:
  13. Thanks, Bruce!
  14. Link. Yay? :| Who's the second choice for 3B? Mark DeRosa ?
  15. For one, most of the jerseys have a Cubs patch on one of the sleeves. Second, the jerseys were worn from 2003-present, which means that some talented players wore the jerseys being sold. I think of this more of getting a great collectible than supporting the Seattle Mariners. Besides, getting this jersey doesn't mean that I'm a fan of the Mariners (or the Orioles): http://cubscast.com/images/jaxxsosa.jpg I'll take that one off your hands...
  16. I got a Rich Hill BP jersey and a Marmol home jersey! :woot:
  17. Sullivan speculates that if the Cubs lose out on Matsuzaka, they will make a strong push for Igawa. Link.
  18. I'm not sure in what alternate universe Pagan's 76 OPS+ is viewed as "alright."
  19. I think it is a good deal for both teams. The Yankees got a nice haul for a hitter they didn't want nor need. Sanchez helps give the Yankees some depth in the pitching department. On the other hand, Detroit needed to add a bat. Whether Sheffield is a good buy or not will remain to be seen. He's a gamble, but if he regains form, he could be a huge boost to that team. Furthermore, Detroit has the depth to trade pitching.
  20. Some have speculated that he just wanted out of Boston.
  21. Keith Foulke has opted out of the last year of his contract. Link.
