    I agree. Our only hope is that other teams bow out due to price or that other teams want to use their chips on other pieces. Or that they don't want to pay for a 3 month rental, yeah. And this all assumes they are far enough out of contention to warrant a deal. I think the 100-year thing and impending sale and all will motivate Hendry to pull out the stops. For that reason the Cubs may end up over paying for a pitcher like Sabbathia. While I'd prefer not to deplete the farm system, there is little down there that excites me, so if we give up a bunch of it, oh well. If we overpay for Sabbathia or Harden, then that's fine. If we over pay for Millwood or Meche or Wolf, I'd be uberpissed!

    Samardzija has that pesky no-trade clause, but I'd love it if he ended up being one of the main pieces in a deal. I'd prefer to hold on to Hill, but I have a sneaky feeling that he'd be part of the deal.

    The bidding for Sabathia will reach astronomical levels. I could see the Brewers, Yankees, Braves, and Phillies joining in on the bidding. I'm concerned that if the Brewers offer a package around Gamel or LaPorta, they would get him.

    Harden and Sabathia are my preferences. I'm not sure if the A's and Indians will be far enough back in July to make those a possibility. I think Padilla and Millwood are also possible pitchers who could be moved, but I want no part of those.

    In the order I'd prefer them: 1. Burnett 2. Meche 3. Wolf Burnett is my favorite by a long shot.

    It depends. Usually, I'd give it to a kid. If I caught a HR ball, I'd keep it. But foul balls or BP balls, I'm more likely to give them away.

    I was all set to go on Tuesday. Wife gave the ok, we were back at the hotel by 5, and I was ready to go, and then the spawn begged me to stay and play with her. Well, Daddy couldn't say no to the little one, so I stayed and played in the pool with her. However, I'm flying solo for tonight's game. If anyone wants to meet up, let me know.

    Before the game, Marmol tossed my daughter a ball. That was pretty cool. I think seeing a Cubs win was the best part.

    That was a fun game. I would post some pics of me, the wife, and the spawn but I forgot the cable that connects my camera to the laptop...so that will have to wait until I get back to Louisiana. And now, Cubs 2008 record with Vance in attendance: 4-1.

    I waved at BbB from my seat...he looked to big and bad to meet up close. I may be able to head to the game tomorrow....wife said it's a maybe. A lot depends on how early we get back to the hotel from everything else we're doing and whether they want to stay in which means I'd be free to go to the game or whether they want to go out or something in the evening.
