  1. I like having a fourth keeper for everyone, but I'd also like to see a rule limiting keeping a player past three years. It would throw some fresh players into the talent pool from time to time. I'm in favor of playing for cash if anyone else agrees.
  2. Not a good outcome, but Lee had a 10-pitch AB.
  3. Right now, we're 5-3 in June. Too early to worry just yet.
  4. Well, that's a start. Can't let the old man beat us.
  5. I'm not sure Eddings knows the difference between a curve and a fastball.
  6. Beaten by Greg Norton??!?!? Seriously, Norton? My god!
  7. A few Braves fans aren't happy that Soto is leading over McCann. Link.
  8. From the USA Today... Baker wants to teach them how to play... Just wait until the patience of the Reds hitters dissapears after a few lessons from Johnny B.
  9. Once again, Bruce has written an excellent article detailing the tough road that lies ahead of the Cubs. Link. I had anticipated the lack of home games, but I think the biggest hurdle is the travel scheduling that will be impacted by the ESPN games and the HOF game. I think the HOF game pisses me off the most.
  10. The Houston Chronicle had an article today on the Astros and their struggles. In the article, Brian McTaggert mentioned that if the Astros become buyers, that they would target pitching. Here is a list of pitchers he believes could be available. Link.
  11. Maybe Jay will just pull them out of his ass. I think he's been pulling stuff out his ass for articles for years. Why should it stop him now?
  12. In 1984, Sutcliffe while pitching for the Indians went 4-5 with a 5.15 ERA for an ERA+ of 80. Of course most remember that after coming to the Cubs he went 16-1 with a 2.69 ERA for a 144 ERA+. I'd hope that lightning could strike twice and that Sabathia would post a similar turn-around. Outside of maybe Harden, I can't think of any pitcher I'd want more.
  13. I agree. I've never been a fan of the expanded pitching staff. I'd rather have a group of relievers on the Iowa-Chicago shuttle, than to send down the extra bat.
  14. Pretty well said. I think it's fairly obvious that don kessinger is just a joke account. He's been around a long time, and I'm at near 100% certainty that it isn't a joke account.
  15. I'd go for Friday, too. It'd be nice to get more first-hand accounts of Samardzija, imo. I'll try, but it's 90 miles one way...so the gas prices are prohibitive to taking too many trips out there.
  16. LSU is about to advance to CWS. They lead UC-Irving 21-7 in the 8th.
  17. So Wednesday and Saturday are the games I should definitely try to see?
  18. I figured if we were going to have another Brian Roberts thread, I might as well post in it.
  19. Can any of you minor league experts give me the pitching rotation for the Smokies beginning with Wednesday's game with the Braves? I originally planned on going to all five games, but with the price of gas what it is, I'll probably only take in three. I'd really like to know who's pitching when so I can see the pitchers I want to. Thanks in advance.
  20. I'm rooting for the Rangers because I might be able to swing some tickets to that one.
