    Soto is more deserving. It'd be a tough decision if only one could go... but if Marmol really is the best reliever in the NL, and Soto is even with McCann to be the best catcher in the NL... doesn't that indicate that Marmol should get the nod over Soto (again, with the understanding that only one could go)? Soto is more deserving than McCann. And the best C is more valuable than the best RP, in my opinion. I know this is a Cub website obviously. But you can't honestly say that Soto is more deserving than McCann. You could say they are equal but to just flat out say Soto is more deserving than McCann is wrong. Just like I won't say McCann is more deserving than Soto. It all depends on how much you value defense from your catcher. If one greatly values defense from the catcher, then yes, Soto is more deserving. The offensive numbers are close enough, that the defense from Soto could give him the edge. If you minimize the impact of catching defense, then they are likely equals.

    It's not a bad start, but it still won't work. At least not for now. First, Blalock is out with carpal tunnel syndrome in his wrist. He's going to have to come back and show his power before any team gives something of value for him. I also think the Cubs would have to send significant money to the Rangers to get them to take Marquis or they would have to add another player. I was going to add "when healthy" to Blalock's name, but I forgot. I'm not sure why the Cubs would have to send "significant money" to the Rangers to take Marquis since Blalock is making almost as much. Maybe send then $1-2 million. The reason the Cubs would probably have to send money is that Marquis isn't producing relative to his contract. He's in essence a salary dump for the Cubs. He may have some value to the Rangers as an innings eater, but not at the cost for next year. Blalock is making the same amount, but he's earning his. Trading him is giving up an asset rather than dumping salary. Marquis without salary relief is a negative value to the trade not a positive.

    We basically traded Jacque Jones for him. Jacque Jones to Detroit for Omar Infante Omar Infante was then spun to Atlanta for Ascanio. We also gave up Will Ohman to the Braves. Ohman has been decent for the Braves so far. I'm disappointed in this move. I wanted to see Ascanio given more of a shot as I like his stuff.

I have one with Dave Veres and Antonio Alfonseca. Hector Villanueva Jerome Williams, Corey Patterson, Mark Prior, Bobby Hill, Michael Barrett, GlenAllen Hill. If you're offering to trade, no. If you throw in a Luis Salazar, I'll consider it. I have three Luis Salazar auto'ed cards, thank you very much, but I need a Paul Noce for my collection.

    My goodness, that Sandberg is a piece of work. Constantly arguing with umpires and getting ejected. He is so disrespectful. Minor league umpires hardly make any money. They're just the common working man and they have to deal with this jerk of a millionaire who never gives to charity and thinks his stuff don't stink. I hope this arrogant, pompous, creep never manages in the bigs. Anyone who disrespects minor league umpires should be fired. The minor leagues are all about helping the kids become major leaguers. Then again, he never cared about his own kids - why should he care about others. Silly me. Barry Bonds is an ANGEL compared to Sandberg the horrible.
