  1. Man, I thought that was a good start to the inning and then that. :x
  2. And Wood K's Delgado...inning over. 11 pitch 1st inning for Wood. Not too shabby.
  3. Maybe he and Eckstein can give each a rub down after the game.
  4. And nothing happening there... :x Be good today, Kerry. Please.
  5. Matt Clement will apparently take his place on the Allstar team according to ESPNews. I hate the fact that Halladay got hurt, but congratulations on Clement being named an all-star.
  6. Awww....I'm so looking forward to meeting you at the game.
  7. It's not Neifi who's unlucky; it's Cub fans that are unlucky to have Baker as a manager.
  8. It doesn't really matter where he hits. As Bobby Cox said in his ESPNInsider interview, a good hitter can hit no matter where you put him. More than anything, Corey needs to work on two things: 1. Recognizing pitches. 2. Making consistent contact at the plate. With his ability and skills, if he can do those things, he could hit no matter where you put him in the line-up.
  9. Where'd you get your numbers? Ohhh, another O_O-Raisin Memory Showdown... Can't wait to see who's right! FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!
  10. I still remember how excited I became when Telemaco signed a baseball for me. Then he started to suck and the joy was forgotten.
  11. You're right. My guess is all three will stay in Atlanta until they retire with some nice AOL/Time-Warner stock. On the other hand, disciples of these three are available. Fredi Gonzalez has worked with Cox. Ned Yost also worked for him. Stealing some guys away from their player development staff might also be possible.
  12. Macowiak isn't expensive, so unless we give a very good young player, someone please tell me the Pirates incentive to trade him.
  13. Well, that settles one possible option. As it stands, I think Hairston if his defense holds up will be fine in CF. If Murton and Holly can be a productive platoon, then we need to look to SS for an upgrade. That being said, I still don't think we'll claw back into the race.
  14. Montanez is now a LF. I would like to see him moved up, but I think the Cubs are being patient with him as they hope he can continue to develop.
  15. I've said it before, and yet I feel compelled to say it in nearly every thread that deals with Joe Morgan. Just because you were blessed with the talent to play baseball at an all-star level, does not necessarily mean you were blessed with the intellect to intelligently comment on it.
  16. Speier might be the successor if Baker is canned. Assume Hendry wants to make a change and an interim is needed. I could see Speier being named interim and given a legitimate shot for the job.
  17. In the Schurholtz interview that I alluded to in another post, I was very impressed with what he said. Contrary to the Billy Beane school of thought, Shurholtz said he preferred to draft high school players over college players because he wouldn't have to reteach them. He also emphasized that the player development side was equally important to the scouting side of things. He said the scouts must provide players with adequate tools and then it is up to his development people to hone and sharpen those tools. I was very impressed and his record shows the fruits of his labor. I think Hendry is a fine GM. We lack the right manager and in some regards I wonder if we have the right personel in player development.
  18. Does anyone think they'll actually play today? It should be clear enough tomorrow for a double header if tonight is rained out. On a side note, it looks like the Biloxi, MS- Mobile, AL area is looking at another direct hit.
  19. I like Hendry as a GM. I've stated so many times. But if I could get Schurholz and Cox, that's the best tandem around. I heard an interview by Schurholz on XM with Cal and Billy Ripken. Very informative. He knows what he's doing and sticks to the plan. Like the Cubs, Schurholz values tools in prospects but he made it clear that there needs to be strong people in the player development areas. I wonder if that might be where we are lacking. Also, during Cox's regime look at the number of good position players who were brought up and given significant time as rookies: Chipper Jones, Andruw Jones, Rafeal Furcal, Marcus Giles, and now Adam LaRoche, Kelly Johnson, Kelly Mann, Wilson Betemit, and Jeff Francoer. There are other quality guys that are no longer on the Braves that they did the same thing with like Klesko.
  20. Have they droned on about what a travesty it is that Derrek Lee is the starter at firstbase?
  21. That wouldn't surprise me, but Willis or Clemens should be the starter. I'd go with Dontrelle.
