  1. Sometimes the mods are privy to info the rest of us are not. In this case, I think they made the right call.
  2. he's doing good in the series now, are you going to update it? Of course not, why let a series worth of stats outweigh one game?
  3. Hendry is the one who said it was too steep on the Reds broadcast, but he never acknowledged a deal was offered or in place. Brenamen asked him about the rumor and Hendry said that price was too steep, even for a player of Dunn's caliber. No one acknowledged a deal was in place or offered. McCoy likely was repeating that info. I still stand by the facts as stated by Miles. If a deal of this magnitude were about to happen or even offered, I'm sure Bruce would know.
  4. And I resent that inference wb sweetemotion? Not for long if it is he.
  5. ??? Tenuous? Hardly. The head Reds beat writer, who is in the HOF no less (this is no Paul Sullivan) for the biggest paper in Dayton makes a special trip to go on the air, and thus on the record, about a possible trade, or in this case a trade that fell thru, and that's not good enough? I wasn't there Geech, but neither was Bruce Miles. Hal McCoy likely was. I'll go with Hal. I'd go as far to wager that Bruce is as close to knowing what went on as McCoy was. I think Miles is as close to Hendry as any of the beat writers. Why do you think McCoy was "there" (wherever there is) and Miles wasn't?
  6. Washington's chances decrease dramatically without Hernandez.
  7. I'm inclined to take Bruce at his word. I'm not denying what McCoy said, but maybe he was just repeating and adding inference to the exchange that Hendry had with Marty in the Reds booth.
  8. Actually Bruce said that Hendry wouldn't give up Hill for Dunn, much less Hill plus others. Bruce didn't mention Patterson.
  9. Mitre, Rusch or Hill would be my guess.
  10. What's mostly amusing is I know for a fact that a majority of the criticism about our board there is from banned posters. It's like the student that bad mouths the teacher who sent them to the principal's office for their own misbehavior.
  11. I would have done the deal, even with Wood's injury. We could start Rusch in Wood's spot. While that's not ideal, it isn't horrible either. Regardless, it appears that Hill has near untouchable status in Hendry's eyes.
  12. Yeah this needs some explanation. I don't think we need any explanation.
  13. If that is indeed the case, then it makes this rumor even more confusing.... Did the Cubs or the Reds deny this trade? I think a lot of misinformation is flying around right now, which is pretty typical for this time of year.
  14. WHY OH WHY did they have to choose orange as the AS jersey color THIS year??? I *hate* orange. :x Props to Vance. Stuffing ballot boxes is an established Chicago tradition. :D And in Louisiana too. Considering I'm related to former governor Huey p. Long, I know all about political machinery.
  15. I'd do Patterson and Mitre for Dunn in a second. Maybe the Reds would do Patterson/Mitre/Wellemeyer? I'd have done the original deal...but I'm trying to understand why Jim values Hill so much. I guess the real question is...did the Reds make that offer or is this whole thread a bunch of horse puckey.
  16. I think if Bruce Miles was uncertain, he wouldn't have said anything. Unlike many members of the media, Miles is a straight shooter. I'd trust him above most other sources. If Bruce says we wouldn't give Hill for Dunn, as outrageous as I believe that to be, I trust him. Secondly, I don't think Sweetemotion can reply any longer. My guess is sweetemotion read through some of the Dunn speculation and used enough facts to create a realistic rumor. Maybe he's more credible than that, but I doubt it. And to think that Breneman wouldn't ask Hendry about an internet rumor isn't true either. Media guys often check out message boards to see what is being discussed. If this one is making the message board rounds, then it's likely Marty would mention it. As much as I wish this one were true, I'm going to take Miles's word that nothing is immenent.
  17. This has not been a good game for us. Hopefully we'll bounce back tomorrow morning and head to St. Louis on a high note.
  18. I've seen Hendry at every road series I've been to. I don't think he goes to every game on the road, but 90% is probably likely.
  19. Miles made that post before Wood left the game.
  20. Well, hopefully Maddux can win one for us tomorrow.
  21. I think Bruce Miles has excellent insight into what Hendry is thinking.
