  1. Once again, Dusty doesn't think a rookie is good enough to finish a game in left.
  2. I think Walker, Lee, and Ramirez can be given a majority of the credit.
  3. I heard about it. Won't mean squat if Dusty ain't gonna play him. Could increase his trade value.
  4. 9-4 now. Even our bullpen can't blow this one! Go Cubs!
  5. Did Len just mention that Dubois is hitting.529 at Iowa??!
  6. FWIW, Pierre has an OPS of .746 over the last year and a half (.355/.391). Hairston has an OPS of .760 (.365/.395). Those steals aren't worth the player(s) req'd to get him or the salary Pierre will command. Pierre is a career .307 hitter with a .356 OBP and Walks more than he SO's. Hairston is a career .262 hitter with a .335 OBP with more SO's than Walks. Pierre is gold glove caliber. Hairston is a back up 2B, who is playing OF. I like Hairston too, but there really is no comparison. I think there is quite a comparison. Pierre is no gold glove CF. Where is OPS in your discussion?
  7. It's still not a bad start by Williams. He just ran out of gas.
  8. Hopefully Williams showing will make him desirable to the Reds in a trade for Dunn. :D
  9. Brewers have tied the score at 2 on a Geoff Jenkins HR.
  10. Jerome performing well is great on two fronts. First, it helps us. Secondly, it increases his trade value if we are inclined to move him.
  11. I know you'll hate to read it, but this really coincides with Patterson being demoted and Hairston and Walker moving to 1/2. Not saying it caused it, but there is a correlation there. Why would I hate to read it? I thought you were a big corey supporter I'm neutral. I've defended him, but I've also been in favor of trading him in the right deal.
  12. Astros lead Pirates 4-1. Cardinals lead Brewers 2-0. Nationals lead Rockies 2-1.
  13. Fred, What's the record in games where the Cubs score seven or more runs?
  14. I know you'll hate to read it, but this really coincides with Patterson being demoted and Hairston and Walker moving to 1/2. Not saying it caused it, but there is a correlation there. Why would I hate to read it?
  15. And now it's seven to one. We look like a good team when the offense shows up.
  16. Well, that's a decent start...but we should have scored at least one more. If Williams can be effective for 5+ innings, I think we'll get the win tonight. Go Cubs!
  17. Wasn't he one of the candidates to take the Cubs' open manager's spot back in the '02/'03 offseason? Yes, but I think Jim already had his mind set on Baker. Had they not been able to work something out with Dusty, he might have been the leading candidate.
  18. My source in Houston told me that GM's often lie to Gammons or if they tell him anything it's what they have learned about other organizations and not their own.
  19. First, isn't that just the type of players I said here? http://www.northsidebaseball.com/viewtopic.php?t=23048&start=120 Looks like my sources are as good as Steve Phillips. :P And Mitre and Wellemeyer no matter who the infield prospect is, will not be enough. Think Mitre, Patterson (or Pie) and whoever the Reds view as the best pitching prospect in our system. And can we keep all Dunn discussions in the same thread.
  20. The only way I'm interested in Griffey is if the Reds pick up enough $$ on that contract to make it around 4-5 million a year. Since there's no way the Reds do that, let's say no to Griffey.
  21. There's only a handful of relievers that I'd be interested in acquiring at this point and Blowtallico is not one of them.
