Why do people here keep slamming people on other team's boards as if they're saying these things just to mess wih us? Some of us are WAY too wound up over this. I'm agreeing with you a lot. Watch out, though. Someone is going to call you out for coming to the defense of the insiders. I have no knowledge of who is who on the Orioles board except for what was posted earlier in this thread. I will point out though, that the only labeled insider talking about the Cubs and Roberts during this whole thread on Bedard appears to be a new poster to the Orioles board with a supposed Cubs source whose veracity is openly questioned on the board. Link to Orioles Hangout Insider Re-cap. Their board has been a joke as far as inside information. According to them, Roberts was traded to the Cubs weeks ago.
Greene's OBP is Neifi-esqe, which is never a good thing. The Cubs have enough power guys in the lineup, it would be nice to compliment them with players that actually get on base.
Does anyone else see a little bit of irony in this post? This is a message board and not a blog...big difference. Not understanding why the boys here are always wanting to fight with me and challenge everything I say. Been a little more vocal of late because what I say no longer affects my employment as it did in the past. No, before you ask, I am not Carrie Muskat or any other beat writer. Figured as much when you said you weren't going to the Cubs convention this year. Guess it doesn't really matter... posters should be judged by their accuracy and knowledge and although some don't always agree with your point of view, for the most part you seem to be dead on with your info. As far as Cuban, why do you believe he has no shot? He seems to get what he wants and he definitely has the money to buy the team.
As far as value to the Cubs in 2008, I would think Byrd would have more value than Murton. Fukudome and Soriano aren't going to be taking many days off. Byrd could platoon with Pie or Fuld and be a decent right handed option off the bench.
You really got to hand it to Sean for his work ethic. I remember a couple years ago when somebody (I think his Dad) was posting that Sean was working out real hard over the winter and added velocity to his FB, which at the time was sitting at 88-91 range. Sure enough, when ST started he was throwing 92+ consistently. Now we are hearing that he was hitting 96 in the AFL. \:D/
CS.com has some quotes from Lieber stating that he is aware that he will be competing for a spot in the rotation, and that he is willing to pitch in any capacity (including the bullpen) if necessary. I guess we can end the speculation that he is a lock for the rotation.
Wouldn't it be great to have a rotation of Zambrano, Lilly, Marquis, Lieber and Dempster? Great for the Brewers. Although, ABuck is clearly joking about trading Hill, I hope Hendry doesn't do something stupid and trade Hill to the O's for Roberts.
Hmmmm...Perhaps a Trade brewing? Hmmmmm, has Marmol continued to pitch? Last I read he was being converted to closer, from setup man, for Licey. Marmol pitched as recently as Saturday.
I would be very disappointed if a trade went down before this thread went to at least 120 pages. BTW does anyone know why Pie hasn't been playing in the Dominican League lately? It seemed like he was actually putting together a good stretch of games in the playoffs and then all the sudden he didn't show up in any box scores.
