  1. http://hirejimessian.com/index.php/2008/01/14/hjes-first-scoop/ I hope Baltimore burns to the ground... I honestly think with the way that Desipio and HJE are linked, plus Desipios hatred for NSBB, this is all a clever ploy to cause this board to explode for no reason. If Hendry can pull off a Bedard/Roberts trade for Pie and some other prospects (Marshall, Murton, Veal, Cedeno, etc.) I will be amazed.
  2. I'm pretty sure that the paperwork has been completed and submitted. :^o
  3. Has anybody asked the OH's insiders what their take on this was?
  4. I love that line. But what does it mean? @$19 a year if I'm not mistaken  It was great last year watching teams consistently run on Soriano, and run themselves out of big innings.
  5. He's got to be kidding. That would be a horrible deal. Yeah, it would be a horrible deal. But, I'd also like to point out that in a deal for Roberts, Pie would be a principle asset in a deal, not someone that you would include or throw in to get a deal done. So, I think this is a bit bogus as well. It would be nice if both sides just called it a dead deal and moved on.
  6. Agreed, but 100 years without a WS as well as 5 post-season appear. since '45 doesn't envoke a model of success. No, but Hendry has been the GM of a team that has made it to the post season twice in the past 5 years. Not to mention that even if he didn't make another move this offseason, the Cubs would be favorites to return to the post season again in '08. I'm actually encouraged by the moves he has made this offseason.
  7. Great I'm sure we'll either be outbid or Hendry will randomly give up the farm to get him. I disagree, there is no way that Hendry trades Pie, Marmol, Hill or the like for Roberts. I'm more afraid that he will attempt to sign an Eckstein or trade for an inferior 2B. Has it been reported what Hendry's obsession with finding a replacement for DeRosa is? For the life of me I don't understand why he is attempting to replace one of the more productive players on the team. He should be focusing his trade efforts on a top of the rotation starter. Don't know what his obsession is, but Eckstein already signed with Toronto  I knew that.

  9. Any news from the O's insiders? I kid, I kid.
  10. The average leadoff hitter had a 759 OPS last year, if that stays the average the next 8 years, Soriano has a good chance of remaining average for his position. I'm pretty sure you're joking, but in case you're not, I'd like to point out that leadoff hitter isn't a position. LF is a position. Really a debate of semantics? I'm pretty sure the term they use for the person who bats first in the lineup is "leadoff hitter". And the person that bats in the first position in the batting order is the "leadoff hitter".
  11. You do notice that not a single NSBB insider has verified this story don't you?
  12. This trade seems like it is dragging on forever. It would be funny if it falls through after all of this speculation.
  13. I agree, that is a big gamble to trade away Gallagher and Marshall. This deal just keeps getting worse for the Cubs. Hendry would be better off just sticking with Derosa at 2B, as the marginal improvement that Roberts provides isn't worth the price. Yep. I don't get the need to get Roberts at any cost. If the price were right, maybe. But, at this point it seems cost prohibitive to get him. And one can only hope that Hendry doesn't get duped into adding Murton for Payton. ](*,)

  15. Does she still follow him around after they divorced?
  16. I could see where it could be construed as a diss to Cub fans. But, the guy's job is to make the Blackhawks look good and build some hype.
  17. Looks like the Cubs are going to have to hire some new marketing guys. Any big trades on the horizon?
  18. Hughes would easily be #1 for me, with Stoney coming in 2nd. I know this sounds terrible, but I couldn't stand Harry toward the end of his career. I actually enjoyed it when Thom B. and Wayne Lerivee(sp?) filled in for him. I think Len and Bob are doing a fine job and it will be interesting to see if people's opinions change after they have been here for 6-10 years or so.
  19. Chose the Padres because of their great ballpark and medical staff.
  20. Um, all they needed to do was tender him a contract. They absolutely did not do everything they could. The fact of the matter is the cubs had the final say and they said "good bye". Why in the world would they have tendered him a contract? Especially considering that the best deal he could get on the free agent market was a $1MM guaranteed deal for 1 year. Something in his medical records was scaring other teams away.
  21. It takes one to know one.
  22. The Cubs offered a one-year deal with a team option for a second year. If I were Prior, I would have turned down that offer, too. Maybe you are Prior. :-k
  23. $1MM is all it took to sign him? There must be some bad stuff in his medical records if that is all he could get. Even Wade Miller got more than that.
