  1. Looks like Marquis is in Pre-All Star Break form today.
  2. Talk about overreacting. Just for kicks, are you implying in your comment that if a non-white guy made the same statement it would be okay with you? My guess is that if a more popular player had made this comment we would all joking about how funny it was. Also, we don't have a clue as to whether Fukudome knows karate or not. If he does know Karate or has goofed around with it or if teammates are aware that he knows Karate, Theriot's statement is perfectly legitimate. People need to loosen up a bit.
  3. Has there ever been a thread to reach 300 pages+? Lets keep it rolling.
  4. ...or it may not! Awesome I heard the Cubs are trying to show respect to the political process and wait until the Democrats decide their presidential nominee. Nah, I hear they want to be respectful and let the entire Presidential campaign have its time in the sun so this trade will happen in November. Even better.
  5. ...or it may not! Awesome I heard the Cubs are trying to show respect to the political process and wait until the Democrats decide their presidential nominee.
  6. I know its just spring training, but the Cubs are running out some terrible lineups. At least last year we got to see some of the younger guys play. This year we are treated to figeroa(sp), Scales, etc.
  7. Are we going to see a Veal appearance anytime soon?
  8. Its good to see that they are giving Patterson another shot at 2B.
  9. I always thought the opposite. Didn't the Cardinals give up on him because Duncan and LaRussa had gotten tired or his attitude?
  10. After the game Marquis apparently complained that he was either going to start or he wanted to be traded. Lou did not take kindly to those remarks according to CS.com http://blogs.chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports_hardball/2008/03/lou-on-marquis.html Let the Marquis trade speculation begin.....
  11. Thanks Bruce. In regard to Pie, what is he going to have to do to win the CF spot and end the whole Crisp speculation?
  12. I hope Pie gets hot quickly in ST and to start the season. I'm afraid Lou may be serious about Fuld.
  13. yeah good point, those guys definitely don't know what they're doing. it's not like FJM was just voted the best sports blog of 2007. i mean that would generally tend to indicate that people find the site funny and enjoy going back there frequently and reading it, so it's a good thing that people didn't choose it as the best sports blog, or your argument would look pretty silly. This is the first piece I have read from FJM.com and my comment still stands. Maybe they have funny posts, but out of the entries I have read (only this one), it was not good quality or even remotely funny. Ironically, the same guy who claims that the story is full of cliches' piggybacks on almost all of the comments on every Cubs board regarding Theriot. There is no originality saying "Theriot's numbers are terrible." We all know that. And the fact that they were voted best sports blog in '07 means what? Citizen Kane was voted the best movie of all time, and many people can't stand it. In the future it would be stronger if you could actually defend the site yourself, instead of relying on other people's opinions.
  14. This is the first time I've checked out FJM.com and a couple comments: 1. There is no way that this site is run by professional writers. (especially ones who claim to have writen some pretty good comedy shows). 2. It appears that the writer does nothing but sit and read this site all day long and steal opinions from posters. There is nothing groundbreaking or original in what they state in their blog. Its just a recessitation of arguments that have been made ad naseum. 3. Out of all journalists that cover the Cubs, why in the world would they pile on, or call out the one reporter out of the group that actually "gets it"??
  15. If true, Lou and Hendry must really like Fuld. If true, I hope it's only Pie for Roberts straight up. #-o Hart and Gallagher also did not pitch today. Don't know but If I hope it has nothing to do "trade related" Good Lord. I doubt they're being traded, but if that was the case, two decent or one slamdunk porspect better be coming back with Roberts. Don't worry Payton is coming along with Roberts.
  16. AZ Phil is reporting that Pie did not practice with the team today. I'm going to go ahead and speculate that Pie was getting his physical and is part of the Roberts trade.
  17. Oh what great insider information bigbird. Implying that you already knew about about reported information and then adding an unverifiable claim to it. It seems pretty obvious that both teams are trying to hold out as long as possible to see who flinches first. Maybe Roberts comments yesterday will speed up the process.
  18. I literally read nothing after this statement. I love it. Why? It's completely true. I was a .500 hitter in HS. A high .300 hitter in college. But I had no home runs. Give me an extra 100 pounds and I'd be batting .500 in college with 20 HRs. That equals mlb and further. Come on, we can say this about so many other players too. Why do you think everyone turned to steroids? Because if you are big in baseball you have that much more of an advantage. xxxx xxxx xxxx (don't want to give ideas out on figuring out someone's real life identity)
  19. OH insider said that Roberts has asked to be traded soon(if they are going to trade him). He thinks things have heated up considerably and that Roberts and Payton will be coming to the Cubs.
  20. Admins and Mods normally attempt to handle personal attacks privately. Please feel free to notify us when you see one. We aren't everywhere all the time. Thanks! Fair enough.
  21. The OH is talking like the O's had offered Cintron a major league deal. Wonder why he would have accepted a minor league deal from the Cubs, unless there was the understanding that after the trade happened he would be added to the roster.
  22. I'm sorry.. your "sources" called the Choi Lee trade. I mean everyone and their grandma knew the Cubs were interested in upgrading the slop from 03 at 1B. I mean everyone and their grandma knew the Marlins were cleaning house. I mean even Peter Gammons said it was a possibility days before it went down, but you and your "sources" came up with it. My ass. My god don't play semantic games with me. There "may be some discussion." This is similar to me saying that the Cubs are discussing the potential profit increase by raising ticket prices. Yeah, it may or may not be going on. There may be discussion is even an understatement of what miles said. He said lukewarm, at best. To be lukewarm is to be indifferent. To have solid interest is not to be indifferent. so yeah... miles pretty much said you were wrong. not to mention every other "rumor" you have ever come up with is either A: written on the wall, B: already known, or C: too dumb to be true. So you're 1 for 1000. Outstanding. Keep em coming. And please dont ever analyze a thing about baseball, mmkay pumpkin? besides i trust my sources more than i do yours. then again i dont leak my inside information Are you kidding me? Who cares that one writer's opinion is that the interest was lukewarm. Hoops was still the first person to report that the Cubs had any interest in Crisp. I know part of your gimmick is to rile everyone up, but you are going over the line here. Not that Hoops was correct in personally calling you up and attacking you a few days ago, but you took it too far in your response. Now you're just lying. There were published reports that the Cubs were interested in Crisp during the GM meetings. Since the Cubs did nothing to solve their perceived center field problem, any person with at least crap for a brain would realize that the interest would probably remain. As usual, HoopsCubs didn't break anything. This is information we already knew. At least I did...and I'm sure most people here did. disclaimer: Hoops is smart enough to know the interest would remain. Its amazing that certain people can get away with personally attacking well respected members of the board without getting banned.
  23. Beside one decent year, Cintron is terrible. Has his defense improved any? Just trying to find some upside to this signing.
  24. Someone asked if the two in question might be Colvin and Veal and he replied For the love of Cubs fan sanity, PLEASE Hendry back the heck away. There is no way Brian Roberts is worth more then two solid young players, much less 4 players. I'm guessing from reports that one of the two is Ceda.
