  1. Who has the better projection out of Shafer, Carpenter and Bristow? They seem like similar type pitchers.
  2. I know it is one outing but very positive news out of AZ courtesy of AZ Phil. I'm not ready to write Hill off yet. If the Cubs can be patient and get him out of his funk and ready for the second half of the season, it would be the equivalent of trading for a 2 or 3 starter. :D http://www.thecubreporter.com/2008/07/04/does-hill-turn-corner
  3. I don't remember seeing Gallagher hitting 96 consistently. :D
  4. :-k Dunn to Cobs? :) As much as I'd love Dunn, I doubt that will happen with our current OF configuaration. And after the lead-off walk, Gallagher settles down nicely. Yea I was obviously kidding around, maybe we should ask reds44 ;) I'm guessing Harang to the Cubs for Colvin, Veal and Marshall.
  5. So would anyone include Marmol in a trade to the Indians for Sabathia?
  6. Got his first AA HR to top it off.
  7. Good to see Bristow pitching in games already.
  8. i doubt that he has; most competent clubs do not evaluate potential acquisitions on the basis of a a couple of poor performances. Its not just a couple of performances. Hopefully none of the clubs have actually scouted him playing 2b either. In Iowa his 2b was actually worse than his LF if that is possible. i highly doubt that that is true. Oh, its true. There is a reason the Cubs are trying to find a different position for him, and its not because DeRosa is blocking him.

  10. good for Lou. Patterson has looked terrible in LF the last couple of games. Hopefully he hasn't ruined his trade value.
  11. Don't know why everyone is giving Marshall a free pass. 4.2 IP and 4ER, is worse than we expect from Marquis. Its hard for a team to stay in the ballgame when your pitcher is almost giving up a run for every inning pitched.
  12. Thanks for the first hand account. 90-91 with three pitches and plus control sounds very promising.
  13. Sure Patterson and Blanco get some blame but WTH happened to DeRosa, he has been terrible lately. I think it is time to give him a few days off. It is sickening to see him come up and kill rally after rally.
  14. Why would they trade Patterson? Don't they need a 2b for next year? He has shown alot of promise in the last couple of days. btw I know it is a small sample size, but he has still been impressive. DeRosa is under contract through 2009. I thought this was Dero's last year. My bad.

  16. That excuse would only work if Hill hadn't been getting regular innings prior to sucking so much. Hill has been a major disappointment to this point this year. Lets hope that he figures it out and pitches like we know he can.
  17. I don't feel this way at all We are 10-6 in games that Zambrano started- good for a .625 winning percentage We are 35-22 in games not started by Zambrano- good for a .614 winning percentage A .614 winning percentage is still good for #1 in MLB Luckily the Cubs have had Gallagher quietly shore up the #5 spot in the rotation.
  18. Nice to see those three start hitting. I'm not sure I saw either get a hit the whole time in Mississippi. I thought I heard that they were pretty offended by your scouting report of them last week.
  19. The title of the thread says "MRI Scheduled", but then there is no info on when it is scheduled for. Did he already have it done? And did he open the car door with his left hand or his right hand?
  20. All Hoffpauir had to do was make some sort of contact. :x
  21. What happened to Murton's plate discipline?
  22. I think looking at things in retrospect, Marquis was actually a good signing. He has provided above average production for an end of the rotation starter and at $7MM/yr. he came alot cheaper than many of the other busts that were available the same year. In regard to Gallagher, it would be ridiculous to compare Marquis and Gallagher after Gallagher's first 4-5 starts of his major league career. Alot of pitchers take some adjustment time. The fact that he is doing as well as he is, this early is a very positive sign and reason to be exicted about him.
  23. Theriot leading all NL SS in OBP
  24. Lets hope that he gets off to a fast start this time around. You can almost guarantee that Murton is going to get one or two starts right away, and if he doesn't make a big impression he will be riding the pine for a few weeks.
