  1. If he's on the normal 5-day rotation schedule, then Prior should be pitching in Peoria again on Saturday night (June 3) vs the Ft Wayne Wizards. It's also Nerd Night with Myron Noodleman! That should put him on a schedule to start on the 8th in Iowa vs Round Rock (with the Famous Chicken attending). :-k No, he didn't start Saturday .... but maybe that's a good sign that he's close to a rehab assignment. Did Miller start in a rookie league game on Satuday?
  2. Neifi hasn't had any type of regular playing time. Hard to get into a rhythm when your sitting on the bench 3 - 5 days out of the week.
  3. I referred to him as Neifi Cedeno a few days ago. Cubs seem to be high on him. Probably like his Neifiesque tendencies. With the way Cedeno was hyped, I thought he'd have a little more plate discipline. Who was hyping Cedeno? He's never been able to take a walk. many here wanting him starting. hence, i assumed he must take walks, if he's popular here. wow, that's some crack research there. Actually, he has a valid point. Cedeno is/was pretty highly regarded by many on the website and many on the website value OBP, walks, etc. Nothing wrong with making that assumption.

With the way Cedeno was hyped, I thought he'd have a little more plate discipline. Who was hyping Cedeno? He's never been able to take a walk. So he is bascially Neifi with more errors? He's a younger, cheaper, more likely to improve version of Neifi, if that's what you mean. I don't mean to be so pessimistic about Cedeno, he may turn out to be a better player than Neifi. You bring up a good point that Cedeno is cheaper, and he is younger, but so far he has been part of the problem with the Cubs offense and has offered little to no offensive advantage over a guy that has taken the brunt of alot of criticism.

  6. Has anyone else noticed that Cedeno is having a very Neifi Perez like season? .279 BA .302 OBP .366 SLG Sure it is early, but is this the best they can do at SS?
  7. I don't know why Baker would want to come back for any more after this year. Sure he is not the greatest manager in baseball, but after taking a look at the Cubs roster it is impossible to expect much more from the team. In Dusty's defense, what the heck is he supposed to do with the team. He has nobody on the bench that can pinch hit. I noticed yesterday I was cursing at TV when he brought Mabry up late in the game but then I realized that Mabry is about as good as it gets on the bench. Normally I can't stand Joe Buck and Tim McCarver, however, yesterday they were dead on, in their criticism of the Cubs. Their everyday lineup is horrible and Hendry basically did nothing over the offseason to improve the team. Earl Weaver couldn't coach this team to the playoffs. It was kind of nice to see those guys making Hendry look bad in his interview too. Buck told Hendry that most of the times when a player like Lee goes down, the GM typically makes a deal quick just to show the team that he is not giving up on them. Hendry waffled and said he was trying, etc., etc. Then Buck made a remark about the lack of a replacement in the farm system and Hendry started talking about how the Cubs farm system was in the top 1/3 in baseball, except they just didn't have any parts that the Cubs needed at the time. It would have been nice to see Hendry make a bold move at a time when it would have mattered. Baker has had a horrible team to put on the field for the last two years and Hendry just keeps re-upping the garbage (Rusch, Perez, Hairston, Blanco). Add the poor acquisitions of Pierre, Jones and Bynum and you have a horrible, horrible team.
  8. From Bruce's article this morning:    http://www.dailyherald.com/sports/story.asp?id=193151
  9. No worries, Womack is on the way. Cubs do need more speed.
  10. Baker should try Womack leading off with Neifi batting 2nd. Can't wait.
  11. Just turned on the radio and heard them saying the interview was done in a professional manner, etc... Were there some fireworks or was it pretty spineless?
  12. I'm a little skeptical over that scenario. I'm sure he is just going to say that the Cubs problems are nobody's fault, that Dusty is a good manager, that Jim Hendry made the right moves in the offseason, that the Cubs are a victim of bad luck, etc. or Maybe he wanted to call out Kap and Waddle onto the carpet in front of their audience instead of covering it up this time?
  13. I don't think MLB suspended Barrett for 10 games because his punch landed, but because his punch was what ignited a bench-clearing fight--a fight that wouldn't have happened had Barrett not punched AJP. Something always ignites fights, the person that ignites the fight almost never gets a suspension that huge. The more games Mabry is suspended the better off the Cubs are. Dusty can't keep running him out their at 1B if he can't hit the ball.
  14. That is the most harsh piece I've seen by Kiley in awhile. Generally, he is fairly forgiving to the Cubs.
  15. Isn't the Cubs new Minor League Director from the Blue Jays organization? Negron was a first round pick in 2000 for the Jays. So maybe Hendry is doing the guy a favor by giving him a shot in the Cubs system. ](*,)
  16. I thought they had a Left Handed batting practice pitcher? #-o
  17. From Bruce's article this morning: Sounds like a Hendry guy, low OBP, lots of strikeouts, little power. Can anyone explain what is going on with the Cubs organization atm. Hendry continues to pick up players that have no chance of helping the Cubs soon. Meanwhile, the offense continues to struggle.
  18. I am just suprised that Hendry actually went onto a radio talk show and answered some questions.
  19. I disagree with that statement, Lou would never put up with the inordinate amount of mental mistakes made by the team, accountability would be higher, and the fundamentals would be stressed more. It would be nice to see a manager with a little bit of fire in him.
  20. I am suprised Len and Bob are blaming everything and everyone but the Cubs players and managers for this slide. They leave out the fact that Dusty's batting order is horrible and that the team is playing very poor fundamental baseball. At some point they have to stop spouting the company line and give some objective analysis. Everyone at home can see how bad the Cubs are and it is insulting to hear them blame it on "good fortune" or bad luck.
  21. close... cf. pierre ss. nef 1b. mabry 3b. aram rf. jones c. barrett 2b. hairston lf. bynum Is Bynum really starting or is this just speculation? Looking at the time these lineups were posted it has to be a joke.
  22. I can't believe someone would be so thrilled with mediocrity. I think the biggest problem that most of the posters had with the Jones signing was the amount of money Jones was paid along with his less than stellar career numbers. Big deal if Jones is ranked as an avg. RF so far. It still does not excuse the fact that the Cubs had money and/or talent to acquire a difference maker to play RF instead of a barely above average RF. Combined with Pierre and Murton it is my guess that the Cubs OF is below avg offensively.
  23. That is thinking outside of the box. :D
  24. Guzman was horrible in his short stint with the Cubs. Hopefully he just needs some time to work on a few things and will be back up in a year or two.
  25. Someone on another site is reporting the following lineup for the Cubs today: Pierre cf Cedeno ss Walker 1b Ramirez 3b Jones rf Hairston lf Perez 2b Blanco c Maddux p I refuse to believe that Dusty is that ignorant. [-X
