  1. Cubs bullpen combines for 5 perfect innings of baseball. Definitely didn't see that one coming.
  2. I have an eerie feeling of confidence right now. I think this inning goes well for Cubs. If not punch yourself. I will, if you agree to punch yourself if the inning does go well :D I'd punch myself silly if it got us a world series I've punched myself silly enough times from them not making it. I think they owe me one or two now. That said, I would too. CUBS WIN!! CUBS WIN!!!

  5. Sammy's pressing for a HR, starts off 0-3 with 3 Ks. Good to see some things never change.
  6. Sweet, at least I won't be missing much. Have a good night everyone.
  7. Me too. Apparently my feelings for sushi aren't very mutual... :|
  8. I hope not. Sammy still has it in him to go 20 or 30 AB between homeruns, and I don't think it's worth a couple weeks of breaking in to cover it. Then again, this is ESPN, so I wouldn't be at all surprised if they disagree.
  9. It wouldn't be wild, uncontrolled cheering like it was for all 500-something HRs he hit with the Cubs, but I would definitely be on my feet and clapping if I were at the game. Also, count me in the group of people who would only be happy about it if it were a solo shot in the late innings of a 12-1 Cubs win.
  10. What's his OPS Against looking like? I would guess that, even when Z's own OPS was at its highest, he was still in the neighborhood of what he had been giving up to that point in the year.
  11. From a Thanksgiving thread that I can't find, nor do I remember the name of, in which people were listing what they were thankful for, an early response in the thread was
  12. Metal bats, I believe. I've been working under the assumption that it's a golf club reference.
  13. Raiders too. (Not a bad choice, but they're still not the Bears.) The mammoth amounts of Gould love will be tough to vote against. I'll abstain for now.
  14. If you are talking from a 1st basemen’s perspective, it should be the foot opposite your catching hand. Except when a left-throwing 1B holds a runner on, they stand with their right foot on the bag, which makes for an easier catch and swipe position.
  15. Classic. I must have posted in that thread at least 600 times. I like this idea too, but would some of the previously mentioned threads still be accessible?
  16. I really enjoy having DeRosa on the team as well, and would only like to see a trade in the event that the buyer overpays for him in a manner that pays off now. That said, did the original article mention him for any reason, or was it yet another case of pulling a name out of his donkeyhole for the sake of filling space in an article?
  17. And you did a good job filling in for me in the minor league forum. Plus, I hear you have dirt on Jon which you will spill if you face him in the second round. Is there truth to this?! If so, my vote has just been sold.
  18. One big plus: BWKB's avatar. Though I have no idea why they're so funny, the David Blaine parody videos are hysterical. Big negative: Still a little bitter about the Superbowl. I thoroughly enjoy both posters, so it came down to these two factors in voting for BWKB.
  19. Once the Cubs are good, it's time to worry about the Brewers. (Read: April 2008, if we're lucky) Until then, we have to worry about how much the Cubs suck.
  20. I'm on the edge of my seat. I'm now two hours late for picking up my gf, and she's an hour away, so I have a feeling this afternoon will suck, but this game is more than worth it. Good luck with that! I'm gonna be PISSED if the Cubs lose, but I would be even more pissed if I was in the car and ... ahem... certain things continued all the way thru the end of the game. (See what I did there Wilson?)

  22. seriously, what the hell is he arguing about? Otto says Black is arguing about DeRosa's foot possibly coming off the bag, and apparently it didn't. It was close. It's hard to tell, but it looks like his foot is still on the bag. It's on the side of the bag away from the Padres dugout though, so Bud would not have been able to see it from his vantage point. I don't blame him for arguing, especially since we've seen proof that coming out, arguing, and keeping your cool is usually good for getting a call in your favor in the near future.

  24. http://boards.espn.go.com/boards/mb/mb?sport=mlb&id=sdg&tid=982363&lid=10 I read on a Padres message board that a guy knows someone who was sitting just past the 1b dugout at Wrigley, and he says that... I think I'll just wait to hear what DLee has to say about it.
