  1. How many pitches did Wainwright throw while allowing two walks, three baserunners, and zero runs score? EDIt - missed vance's post - seemed like more than 22 to me.
  2. let's also stop we stop trying to steal against struggling pitchers with good-throwing catchers behind the plate Lou just forgot that starting catchers are allowed to actually throw out runners. He just thought it was an automatic base Understandable mistake.
  3. let's also stop we stop trying to steal against struggling pitchers with good-throwing catchers behind the plate Sori wanted to make up for doing something stupid like taking a walk. He was just trying to unclog first base, and guess what - it worked.
  4. Why why why why - DLee up, hitter's count, excellent defensive catcher. wtg, team.
  5. Pat and Ron are always on mlb.radio. That's been my primary means of following games this season, and it's been pretty nice.
  6. He's hit .233/.246 with 0 HRs since he's been there. His lack of production...heck, total collapse, amazes me...but I agree with you. I think we've found our "kenny lofton sparked the offense" myth of 2007. Lou got ejected June 2nd, and June third thru whatever date was the time period the Cubs had the best record in baseball. Z got good. ARam's walkoff was only a few days after Cubs gave up the 5-run lead in the 9th to Colorado, only for Sori to comeback and hit the walkoff single in the bottom of the inning. They were both part of the team's longest winning streak in five years. Fontenot was beyond ridiculous the entire month of June. The bullpen decided to stop sucking. Barrett's below-average numbers were replaced by Bowen's and Hill's completely non-existent offense. I'm sure I can find more reasons to discredit the Barrett being traded theory, those are just off the top of my head.
  7. This is the most solid cause for pregame optimism I've seen in a while. Good work. (I hate you.)
  8. Yea, that part where the Brewers get to host the Reds definitely doesn't bode well for the Cobs.
  9. The Cardinals blow and are nothing to be afraid of. The only team you should be afraid of is Milwaukee. The only team the Cubs have to fear is the Cubs. If they lose the series this weekend, then they're screwed because they're a bad team who won't be able to finish off the stretch run. The Cards being closer would just be a side effect.
  10. It's still my desktop, and my photobucket still has a smaller size more appropriate for sigs. Unfortunately I have access to neither right now, but if no one has posted it by noon Pacific time, I'll post it for you.
  11. I fear this game. PLEASE don't suck, Z.
  12. Inserting a lefty between two righties is strategically sound, dude.
  13. Right now, Z is projected to start the last game of the season. As long as the Cubs have their spot locked up by then, Trachsel can start the meaningless final game, and that's all the rest they would need. I don't want the starters to get any more rest than that.
  14. I'm a Bears fan, but I don't care about them nearly as much as I do about the Cubs, so I'm with you here. I would much rather discuss football here with other Cubs fans who have different football allegiances than sign up for a Bears-only board, so it'll still be a while before I show up on WCFB. It isn't a Bears only board, though. Even though it's primarily intended for Bears fans, fans of other teams are welcome there just as they are here. And there's a subforum set up specifically for discussions about other teams. My point was, regardless of team, I prefer to discuss football (and any other random topic) here with other Cubs fans.
  15. Why? Isn't it in Houston? I just assumed that getaway day would be a day game, but instead they will be of no help in making the next 45 minutes go by. :resuming clock-watching:
  16. I would just like to express once again that I think it's bullcrap that this wasn't a day game.
  17. I think that quote is more of a message about this coming off-season than a shot about previous ones.
  18. There may be more Reds fans interested in seeing the team beat the Cubs than they are in seeing them beat the Cards. Also, since those will be the last games of the season and on a weekend, today probably won't be the best indicator of turnout. Still, assuming the Cubs are still within a game of the lead, yea I think it'll be all blue in the seats that weekend.
  19. what a worthless point. It's a limited sample for all the pitchers and holds absolutely ZERO predicative power. anyways trachsel sucks and will continue to suck as the cubs lose 10-4. What a worthless post. While the stats are specific to pitchers, the commentary is about the Cubs, whose offensive futility is almost as predictable as your arrogance.
  20. http://ckelly.typepad.com/photos/uncategorized/2007/09/12/20070912ds.jpg as seen on CardsTalk. 400 seems pretty generous. - Do the vendors even bother to show up? - Do TV stations waste their time, or would they just make like WGN and show reruns of Moesha instead? - It would be awesome to show up and either cheer at the top of my lungs for the home team, or heckle the crap out of the visitors and umpires for three hours straight. - Maybe the owner has been losing on purpose in order to drive attendance down, get out of the stadium contract, and move the team to Cleveland.
  21. Even the bases are on steroids now. :lol:Was there ever any doubt? That's the only reason the Astros scored a run in the 9th last night.
