  1. I watched that game with a guy I was stationed with at the time (a Brewer fan, oddly enough), and he was counting down from 12 houts. I kept yelling at him to stop. He finally did, but only because... Nevermind, something is stuck in my eye. Point is, I completely agree. Counting down outs needs to be a bannable offense.
  2. HAHAHAHA. I guess that shows that Ankiel is not available for mopup duty.
  3. WP, RBI groundout. 14-0, on to bottom of the 8th finally. EDIT - gameday changed their mind about the out. 15-0, Houston still batting.
  4. Towles walks, a run scores, Wandy bats for himself in the 8th and drives in another. Still one out, top of the order up. 12-0.
  5. Top 8th 1 out, Houston has them loaded (for JR Towles). I really hope the Cards choose to show up next week. At least once.
  6. Awesome. Atlanta could really ruin the Brewers' chances this weekend.
  7. I can think of a better time for a 10 game winning streak. 1-1 tie in NLDS was the first to come to mind.
  8. It's an efficient hydration method that many people with the flu would benefit from. When I'm sick and dehydrated, I don't have the stomach capacity to sufficiently rehydrate from drinking fluids. It doesn't mean his flu was so much worse that having an IV indicates the severity, it just means he happens to make millions in an industry that spends millions on medical care.
  9. Thats exactly what I think will happen with Pujols out. Wainwright might be good for a victory in that series though. Who knows. Yea, I'm not ready to count on StL to take any of those games. It's hard to predict a sweep in any series, but it's also hard to predict the Cards winning anything the rest of the season, especially with Pujols out. I think Atlanta has a chance to win three this weekend though.
  10. That what happens when you keep your emotions in check. Snap!

  12. Yea he has, but Im pretty surprised at the rest of the team. Marquis has dominated Pitts lineup outside of Bay and Izturis(ha). With Wilson out of the lineup, I could see Izturis being one of those little rat bastard ex Cubs to come back to get us. I really can't imagine he'd be any more harmful to the Cubs than he already has been. Not that I care to see him try or anything.
  13. Marlins 'fans' took way too much joy in silencing the Cubs four years ago. I have a feeling there will be a better Marlins fan turnout for that series just to yell Steve Bartman's name at Cubs fans.
  14. If Ozzie Guillen can have an extension, there's no reason Yost shouldn't get one too.
  15. That K Lilly got to end the 7th was an awesome call. I listened live and it was well-called all the way through. Lots of good moments from tonight, and I liked Kaplan at the end too. It was pretty sweet when he just randomly threw the song on too.
  16. I'm disappointed in myself and the board as a whole for not having this thread stickied and 40 pages long already. Hopefully yost gives us reason to keep it up here.
  17. Is this what it has come to? Players not making the catch of their career counts as a break for the Cubs? I'm not saying it counts as a break, I'm saying for how often such ridiculous catchees are made against this team, it's nice to see one fall that was techinically within their reach.
  18. The closest thing to a break the Cubs caught was Hopper over-diving on the game-tying triple in what would have been yet another beyond ridiculous game-saving diving catch. That ball was technically within Hopper's range and he could have come up with it, but after Carlos Lee came out of nowhere for that catch in Houston, that miss just barely serves due karmic justice.
  19. I don't know what you're talking about. [coughSIGcough]
  20. It's absolutely a good thing he's starting. For that game, my order of preference is Marquis, Lilly, and then a tie between Z and Hill for third.
  21. Cubs definitely need the day off. They did pretty well on this big stretch. Hopefully they come out firing against Pittsburgh and put them away like Milwaukee did to Houston the first two games.
  22. good god i hate houston. their offense had damn well better show up in the bottom of the inning.
