  1. good god - definitely can't go to sleep for a while. Unbe-freaking-lievable. I'm still just pacing around the apartment all giddy
  2. Holy freaking crap. How did they... did they really?! WHOOOOOO HOOOOOOOO CUBS!!!!!
  3. I think my new upstairs neighbors just decided they don't like me. At all.
  4. Aramis could be my hero for life...
  5. I'm not sure why this team decided to hit for power, but I'm glad they did.
  6. If Floyd wants to hit 4 HR every week, then I'll quit complain about Murton's playing time.
  7. A Jones K is a good start to stranding the leadoff runner - you can do it, offense!
  8. I thought for sure that triple would make this game ugly in a hurry. Good work Rich.
  9. I vote this thread goes to polls and is outfitted with the same options. I'm curious to see how nsbb votes in relation to the rest of the people who vote in that poll.
  10. I voted to bestow.
  11. The last week for day games at Wrigley, and they waste the first game on a night game. I really hope there are a few more day games before the roadtrip (and playoffs ) begin. Class is getting pretty brutal these days and the reprieve would be beyond welcome.
  12. CUBS' remaining schedule (12).... Gm# Date Opponent Score Starter Opp Starter 151 Mon 09/17 Cincinnati N - Hill Arroyo 152 Tue 09/18 Cincinnati N - Zambrano Harang 153 Wed 09/19 Cincinnati N - Lilly Shearn 154 Fri 09/21 Pittsburgh - Marshall Maholm 155 Sat 09/22 Pittsburgh - Marquis Van Benschoten 156 Sun 09/23 Pittsburgh - Hill Gorzelanny 157 Tue 09/25 @ Florida N - Zambrano Willis 158 Wed 09/26 @ Florida N - Lilly Mitre 159 Thu 09/27 @ Florida - Marshall Olsen 160 Fri 09/28 @ Cincinnati N - Marquis Arroyo 161 Sat 09/29 @ Cincinnati N - Hill Harang 162 Sun 09/30 @ Cincinnati - Zambrano Shern Good lord. Those projected opposing starters have all the makings of giving the Cubs another 04 finish. I'm definitely concerned about these two weeks.
  13. Reds could be 0-31 in that span and I still wouldn't take them lightly. They'd abuse us anyway. I'd be pretty giddy if the Cubs took two from them this week.
  14. I'd be thrilled if Soto gets three starts a week, which I think is a rather high estimate of his playing time the rest of the year. I just don't see a major shift there until the end of the year, but hopefully he continues to give Lou no choice.
  15. Time to start beating the teams who no longer have anything to play for. Time to beat the Reds. No more excuses. Arroyo -- Christ come on it's not like he's Cy Young. More like Babe Ruth when he plays against Glendon Rusch.
  16. Heg out to breakfast now - Don't suck, Cobs! I'm trying out a new sig too. Pretty much the same as Brian's, just a little overboard.
  17. Also, it's my mom's birthday today - I'm taking her out to breakfast, then we're going to a sports bar to watch the game and start drinking before noon. That's going to help the Cubs' odds today.
  18. Jones is batting .381 and OPSing over a thousand in 21 AB against Moulder. He'll be sitting. Marquis is definitely a guy I like to see on the mound, and I have a suspicion he'll be bringing his best against the team that left him off the playoff roster last season. Cy Moulder has an MVP performance, but Marquis out-duels him. Cobs win, 2-1.
  19. THT did an article awhile ago that analyzed their run differential. Essentially, their pitching staff is the definition of day and night. Their good pitchers are really good and their bad pitchers are really bad. So they have Brandon Webb, they're in the NL West, and they have really bad pitchers at the back of their rotation (or in their bullpen?). If there were ever a recipe for success against the Cubs, that would be it - I'm really surprised neither series against was a DBags sweep.
  20. It's a double-header, I think it needs to be a DH here too, and the starter on deck should be ready, just in case. Though I'm happy with UMF starting the rest of the month.
  21. I don't get it either. Unfortunately, the DBacks don't understand why the Cubs have a shot at the post-season. Also, your avatar is awesome.
  22. In the event of a playoff appearance, I'm just glad the Cubs won't have to play the Reds or the Pirates. I think they have a good, legitimate chance against the other teams in the NL, though the other likely playoff contenders will all be tough. I was secretly hoping for the Braves to get in again.
  23. Ridiculously big day coming up. If Cubs enter Sunday with a chance at a sweep, my optimism is officially restored, and that scares the crap out of me. Just win, morans!
  24. Earlier this week, I made plans for this evening assuming this would be a day game, because I'm smart like that. I've gotta take off now. I've begged a couple people for txt message updates throughout the evening. Cobs, if you choke this game, I'll choke you. It's that simple. Don't suck.
  25. My first reaction was that he'd still make it to the 8th before reaching a hundred pitches, but then I remembered he's not facing the Cubs.
