  1. I have to disagree. While Lou is light years better than Dusty at actually playing guys who deserve it, he's still prone to his favorites and I fear we'll be stuck with Theriot starting at SS and Fontenot on our bench because of it. Nah, I'm with Tim here. He was definitely unreasonably favorable toward Riot, but it was because of performance. Riot's hot streak was a little later in the summer than Fontenot's, and he was also able to sprinkle in an occasional dosage of the mystical clutch factor, which earned him just enough staying power to outlast Cedeno. However, based not just on performance but also on players' comments about his (lack of) clubhouse presence, I think it's pretty reasonable to hope that whoever gets the playing time next season will earn it through performance.
  2. I remember that (you did that twice, if I recall). I think you're the only person to actually ask to be banned. :D oh wow, I might have to do that. I've been considering it as well.
  3. Basically Byrnes said that the Dbags outplayed the Rockies the 1st two games but that the Rockies won because they are lucky. Pot meet kettle. my thoughts exactly. though I don't think the cubs outplayed the dbacks. not sure why they played tonight with the offday Tuesday. Series will be over Tuesday. Rockies wanted the extra travel day.
  4. Say Micah Owings is in the AL. Can he pitch and simultaneously be DH, so that when he is taken down for a reliever, he can stay in the lineup as DH? I'm all for the DH. It's better than watching pitchers hit HRs off the Cubs.
  5. They made mention of one of the DBags players (Drew, maybe?) saying something to provide some bulletin board material and inspire some boos. I'm sure it's a non-story, but what did he say?
  6. This year's NLCS intense pitching moments brought to you by.... Josh Freaking Fogg. EDIT -- With the clutch, series-sealing HR from Yorvit Torrealba. I wonder if these douchebags who talk up experience, particularly post-season experience, ever watch playoff baseball.
  7. You're only looking at this young offseason. Pirates already traded for Izturis and Morris to be two of their highest paid players.
  8. March 1st, you say? I make that 139 days. Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock. PCR day is usually a good 10-14 days before the ST games start, so making that the target date would take a chunk out of the countdown. I don't know this year's date though.
  9. I'll be trying to get tix...but to sell them. Well yea, there would only be two of us going, and I'm hoping to get two more to sell off and finance the trip.
  10. Rockies release WS tickets monday morning. I may be passing thru Denver that weekend, and I have a friend in town. It might be time to start trying to get tix to game 4.
  11. I like the move - too bad he pulled a Z and hacked away at anything that wasn't rolling on the ground when it got there.
  12. They both walk a crapton of people too. 3-2 Rox!!
  13. They're called hitters, not walkers.
  14. I'm not thinking the D-Backs will last much longer. If the Rockies win tonight, they're just one win shy of having won 20 in a row. The momentum they have now blows what the Cardinals had last year out of the water, and they're actually a good team. I'm going to be really surprised if they don't win it all and become the 3rd of the 4 most recent expansion teams to go to and win a WS series before the Cubs finally go again. The Rockies have won 7 in a row. They were beaten by Brandon Webb on the 28th to break up an 11-game win streak. A win tonight makes 19 of 20 heading back to Colorado, so your point stands that they can pretty much do no wrong right now. EDIt - I guess that's what you meant by a win shy. nm.
  15. Looks like the post season hasn't been cancelled yet, so this one should happen. Break out the party hats.
  16. That would be really depressing if that happens Despite what it says about the Cubs, I'm rooting for this.
  17. This makes 18 of the last 19 for Colorado. If they manage to go back home leading 2-0, no way this series returns to AZ. Also, the interference was about as blatant as possible, and the DBags fans don't care enough to fill a stadium, but they care enough to make asses of themselves. I hope they've won their last game.
  18. 4-day All-Star Breaks blow. Also, between the 5th of September and the end of the season, there are two off days on the schedule. Hopefully makeup games and DHs won't make that a brutal season-ending stretch. I may get to see 4 or 5 games in April, with the Cubs traveling to both Philly and DC on weekends that month. At least this time, if they get swept, they still have to play when I show up to the park  EDIT - I wish they were coming to Camden Yards rather than the O's going to Wrigley. Oh well.
  19. What's the premise? I heard he does impressions or something. TBS should do a better job of getting the word out if they want this show to take off.
  20. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/7323872?MSNHPHMA Well the Reds were this close to finally becoming an impact team. Good to see they're putting the lid on that whole idea.
  21. I forgot there were still teams out there with games left. 5-1 Colorado leads AZ, middle 7th. http://www.geocities.com/televisioncity/4766/film/hg/knightsm.jpg yaaay.
  22. Mike and Mike interview In other words: "It's too early to know what his chances are, some owners may be opposed to him, others have called to support him, he's had a positive net effect on the NBA and hopes baseball realizes it." And a bunch of stuff about dancing, a little about the NBA.
  23. Nah, he's basically saying that Schuerholz (sp) was such a good GM that now he's rich enough to afford such nice wooden countertops.
  24. If he's stepping down but still seeking employment elsewhere, Hendry had better be gone instantly. This would be bigger than ARod.
  25. Well there was entirely too much beer to allow my camera to occupy my hands for more than a few minutes, hence only taking a couple, so you should be safe. I was hoping to have a few sluggers in-game action pics, but I was too busy losing my voice shouting obsscenities at the top of my lungs.
