    I'm so glad he kept it and it wasn't just a ST thing. I predict big things thanks to the power of the beard. Don't underestimate the power of a manly Beard (see Todd Helton last year) There was talk of adding DLee's face to Mt Rushmore this season, but the granite wasn't hard enough to make the beard.

    Clutch exists merely as perception, visible only to those who choose to see it. Does anyone remember Alex Gonzalez as being "clutch"? Or is he just KGon, the REAL 8th inning scapegoat? Everyone remembers Sori's walkoff single against the Rockies last year, but at least equally as "clutch" was Koyie Hill two batters earlier. Are they better players because they've performed in the clutch? Was their performance in the clutch simply a fluke? Does it not even qualify as clutch, since they sucked anyway?

    Put me in the "what a waste" response category if this turns out. The closer position exists because of the save stat, not the other way around, which makes it a pretty [expletive] position to have in the first place. If there's a 1-run lead against the Mets with the heart of their order coming up, Marmol is an excellent choice for closer. If it's a 3-run game against Cincy and Hairston, Macias, and Perez are up at the bottom of the order, using your filthiest reliever just because he's supposed to be the one who gets that tick mark in the save category when every other person in the bullpen could get the job done in that situation is a complete waste at best. Considering the fact that we're going to have ample games this year where Marquis and Dempster are going to be pulled in the fifth inning with bases juiced and none out in close games, I cringe at the idea of not bringing in Marmol with the justification that it's not the role he's been type-cast for this season. If the closer position MUST exist, I'm perfectly ok with it being the second or third best reliever on the staff. Not Marmol.

    I'm up for it. I haven't spent much time at all yet in the District, and Cubs weekend is as good a time as any to change that.

    For Friday and Sunday, I have a seat about halfway up section 133, about halfway between 1B and the wall, and Saturday is halfway up section 113 just past 3B.

    Well Theriot is 3-3 and Fontenot hit a 3 run homer... Crap. I guess that means they've earned starting gigs, and they'll have to suck for four months before losing them (or in order to keep them...). Who knows, maybe they plan on being good all season this time. :pig:
