  1. Hey, you were the one that said it to me.
  2. I watch quite a bit of hockey. The fighting is stupid. It's not going anywhere for a long time, because it's so ingrained in the culture, but it's pointless. But did you play high school level organized hockey or higher?
  3. Cause this fight right here when they are losing 6-2 is really worthwhile and an integral to the game.
  4. Oh, you said that I don't know anything about hockey, still attacking the poster, not the topic.
  5. First of all I don't need you to educate me. Secondly, saying that someone doesn't have an IQ over 100 is absolutely a personal attack. Saying that anyone who doesn't think fighting is part of hockey is stupid is also implying that I am stupid.
  6. you just implied that I was stupid, which you also did earlier in the thread. How is that not a personal attack?
  7. Can we get an IQ level of 100+ lock put on this thread, please? So what happened to not being allowed to make personal attacks or other things of that sort on this board. Last time I checked it wasn't allowed and you have done it 3 times now I believe.
  8. oh man they were thinking about that message when they scored that goal as well.
  9. Message sending for the next game, it's happened since the beginning of the sport. Very similar to how baseball used to be... you take care of it on the field... you hit my guy I'm going to make sure to hit your guy(s)... there were no warnings or ejections for that crap. Let the players police the game themselves. There is a reason why baseball stopped allowing those fights...it's [expletive] and shouldn't be part of the game for the most part. It should be the same why in hockey in terms of warnings and ejections. not really. baseball is not a particularly physical or intense sport. hockey is very much so. rather a couple guys fight each other and end up with a few sore fists than nasty cheapshots happen and guys get seriously hurt. fighting lets the players release frustrations etc. in a pretty safe way. if it were 'banned' guys would resort to very dangerous stickwork or intent to injure hits. so fighting in hockey is a good. Last time I checked the rulebook, slashing, crosschecking, high sticking, and hooking are all penalties and they can get you a major penalty as well. At least that is the sort of stuff I am going to assume you mean by "very dangerous stickwork". Football is a very intense physical sport that doesn't allow fight. You don't see people other than albert haynesworth going up and cleating someone in the face or something like that all the time do you? The same would be true in hockey.
  10. how is that "message" that they sent at the end of the last game going?

  12. Then what exactly are you proving when you pick a brawl at the end of a game you are losing 7-4? That they shouldn't go to the same wild west tavern as you?
  13. No it isn't, checking is integral to the game. Fighting in hockey is just allowed because they want to attract all of the redneck WWF wrestling fans.
  14. You don't know anything about hockey then. So I know nothing about hockey because I think that fights are stupid? What exactly are you proving when you pick a brawl at the end of a game you are losing 7-4? That they shouldn't go to the same wild west tavern as you?
  15. NFL contracts are really strange with all of the workout, roster, and all of the other types of bonuses and clauses that kick in at certain points. It wouldn't surprise me if it didn't hurt their cap number as much as you think.
  16. Who cares if the deal is higher than some people "might" be in the future? Those players aren't available and you have no idea how the free agent market is going to trend in the future. Peavy is a great pitcher that has won a Cy Young award. He has not even entered the prime of his career. There are not many of those pitchers around and when they are on the open market they get TONS of money (usually from the Yankees). If you get the opportunity to get one of them, especially at a slightly under market value deal in your words, you pounce on it. Pitching is the most important in playoff baseball and I would rather have a rotation of Zambrano, Peavy, Harden, and Dempster going than what we have right now. Or you could switch Lilly with Dempster and have Dempster coming out of the bullpen in the playoffs. We would have by far the best 5 man rotation in baseball and the best 4 man rotation when the playoffs come around.
  17. If they get the revenue and the clearance to raise the payroll, why would you care if getting Peavy would increase the payroll? So what if we are 3rd in the majors? Peavy would make the team better. If we get a deal that is fair and have the payroll to take on the contract there is no reason that Hendry shouldn't pull the trigger.
  18. That is one ugly uni he is wearing in that pic. BTW that was written by the same guy that was on the score so it isn't two separate sources.
  19. AND according to the score's White Sox beat writer Peavy denied the trade. He told the Padres less than a hour ago that he would block the trade.
  20. http://www.chicagobears.com/news/NewsStory.asp?story_id=5792 The NFL is stupid. Eligible Numbers 1-49, 80-89. Non Eligible Numbers 50-70, 90-99. Done, simple. Can someone explain to me why that is even a rule?
  21. I can't wait for a year after next to watch the great Tim Tebow fail in the NFL. It is going to be glorious. Then he will go off to Zimbabwe to try to convert kids to catholicism.
  22. Mayock is so much better than Kiper it isn't funny. Also, I like that NFL network always has a couple of front office people on the set along with a coach or two. It is interesting to hear what the teams are thinking from people that have actually been in the situation. For example having Mike Lombardi, who was in the Raiders draft war room for many years, was quite entertaining whenever the Raiders made one of their idiotic picks.
  23. That stinks I really like him. :(
  24. I wonder if the Bears are going to take another look at Darren Sharper now that they didn't get a starting free safety in the draft. I know that he had some talks with the Bears before the draft and said he would like to play for them.
