  1. He wasn't. And there were many mixed opinions on Benson including many people noting how he is/was a flake and headcase ect. If I remember correctly there were people saying that Harris wasn't an every down DT and was an injury risk. I don't believe that he played all of the downs in college. Also there were definite injury red flags for Williams. These are the sorts of things that teams should investigate about their players that they draft but they are continually problems with the Bears drafts year after year. It's starting to get really frustrating.
  2. He was the 2nd running back taken, caddy was still on the board. And you don't see any reason he can't pick well in the top half? Chris Williams (granted he has time but the neck injury really scares me), Cedric Benson, Tommie Harris, Michael Haynes All 4 of those players were drafted in the top half of the first round. What tells you that he can pick a good player in the top half?
  3. They've failed on the "elite" guys. Look at their top 15 picks in the last 10 years.
  4. Year Sel # Player Position School 2008 14 Chris Williams OT Vanderbilt 2007 31 Greg Olsen TE Miami (Fla.) 2006 No Pick -- 2005 4 Cedric Benson RB Texas 2004 14 Tommie Harris DT Oklahoma 2003 14 Michael Haynes DE Penn State 2003 22 Rex Grossman QB Florida 2002 29 Marc Colombo T Boston College 2001 8 David Terrell WR Michigan 2000 9 Brian Urlacher MLB New Mexico 1999 12 Cade McNown QB UCLA 1998 5 Curtis Enis RB Penn State yikes. That's how you kill a team.
  5. With all the talk about how horrible higher picks are nowadays, and how nobody wants to trade up and everybody wants to trade down, I think a shrewd NFL GM should be able to make a great deal moving up to get the guy he wants this year. That's a good point. Though trading up involves losing picks, which the Bears can't afford to do. You can also trade players. Angelo seems to know how to maneuver up in the 2nd/3rd/4th rounds, if he finds the right player and right trading partner, I could see trading up in the 1st, then moving back in the later rounds to maintain the same number of picks overall, or close to it. Hey, it's not like they have been spot on with their 2nd and 3rd rounders. I'd much rather trade up for a stud in round one than end up with a Bazuin or Wolfe later. Cause our first round picks the last...how many years...have been good?
  6. They aren't drafting a guard or center in the first round. There are too many other positions of need that have a higher level of importance placed on them.
  7. love it and couldn't agree with the sentiment more. If you want to read an article you can get behind, take a look at http://kissingsuzykolber.uproxx.com/2009/01/for-the-record-f-k-you-nbc-for-hiring-that-worthless-piece-of-s-t-matt-millen.html oh and little kids might not want to read that.
  8. Yeah, Spiller is that type of exception. I don't think the Bears need a DT or CB in the first 3 rounds. Probably a G, maybe a OT. Bears should take 3 of these positions in the first 3 rounds. DE, OT, OG, WR, FS. RB, C, CB, LB are luxuries if a player slips far. I heard some talk on the radio yesterday that the Bears are pretty interested in grabbing Taylor Mays in the first round. Reading his profile he sounds like exactly the type of player the Bears would want in the secondary. Having him and Kevin Payne as our safeties would worry me.
  9. You're probably right on both of those but I would like to see them pick up a DT in the later rounds at the very least (or in FA).
  10. If a GM spends a first round pick on tebow they deserve to get fired.
  11. aww the other post was better :(
  12. I really don't think the Bears should spend a first day pick on a backup running back. The only way is if someone really drops and they grab him in the 3rd round. We need starters at wideout, defensive end, a defensive tackle, safety and probably a corner. Ugh thinking about the Bears roster just makes me sad.
  13. I don't think he'll be staying, Chase Daniel is graduating this year so his numbers are probably going to take a hit next season.
  14. Please let Maclin go pro and drop to the Bears (or them move up to get him)
  15. Rain delay on a Hockey game? Are they going to be able to get the ice rebuilt in time for the game?
  16. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO how ironic is it that the team that the bears should have beaten earlier in the year just kept them in the playoff hunt.
  17. Thank Reggie Bush for motivating our defense after that taunt and then somersault into the end zone 3 years ago. I'm pretty sure the Bears still think of that when they go against the Saints. Speaking of which, did anyone else notice that the 2-3 times that Urlacher was in on tackles on Reggie he didn't offer him a hand getting up? Kinda made me chuckle after the 2nd time I saw it happen.
  18. They still wouldn't be that good. A coach can't make terrible players all-stars. OK, so, currently the Bulls have a better record than 13 other teams in the league. The players aren't terrible. Frustrating? Probably. And, a coach and a scheme makes a huge difference in basketball. And how many teams have a better record than them? When was the last time they got past the first round of the playoffs? Oh yeah, 10 years ago. 2 years ago Forgot about that. Regardless, outside of Rose the talent on the team is pretty pathetic

  20. The first time I got Madden for PS2, I realized how easy it is to not see that dang LB. I told him to loft the ball damnit!!! :x Ah, precision passing, one of the more difficult things to master, IMO, and I'm a casual player. My friends always laugh at me and talk about how easy it is to put the ball where you want it, but whenever I try to do it the pass is either over-exaggeratedly lofted or incredibly short. Christmas needs to come so I can get an xbox again! stupid flood....
  21. His stats are better than Maualuga. Who should have gotten it over Laurinaitis? IMO, Aaron Maybin (Penn State) and Vontae Davis (Illinois) are better than Laurinaitis. I also think Maualuga is overrated (but he's better than Laurinaitis); I think Brian Cushing of USC is better than Maualuga. Maybin is a Defensive End. Are you comparing linebackers or overall defensemen? Yeah, the original topic was about defensive players and conference DPOYs. Vontae Davis is a corner and Maybin is a DE and they are both superior players to Laurinaitis. Too bad they aren't in the big ten :P

  23. So who woke up wale and told him the season started?
  24. Or confuse anyone like you did me. It took me 2 pages to realize that it was a year old lol.
