    Thanks for doing the Q&A. Sean Gallagher started out on an unbelievable streak at the beginning of the year but has slowed down somewhat as the season has progressed. Do you know if this is due to him tiring a bit as the season progressed, going through the teams a second or third time, working on new pitches or changing something else, or some other factor? Also, have you noticed any adjustments that he has made so far this year?

    Baltimore is leading the division by 4 games. I think you are mistaken. Boston is 48-35, Baltimore is 44-39 -- Boston is leading by 4 games. Check the standings... Thats what I get for glancing over something and assuming it was the same as in the past.

    Yeah, but KC would be smart to trade for Sisco's Rule V rights so they could send him down to AA to retool him as a starter. Otherwise it would be a wasted draft pick IMO. Trading Dubois and Sisco's rights for Affeldt sounds like a decent trade to me. Excuse my first post, but I don't think KC has any intention of trading for Sisco's rights right now, because he is actually helping them at the major league level. They aren't going anywhere, so what is the danger in keeping him on the roster? He's still young, so they can start him in AAA next year if they want to go that route. Also, I don't see the point in acquiring Affeldt. He's had some flashes of competence, but what has he ever done to make himself desirable to get, other than that shiny "veteran" label? Arm troubles and middling performance don't excite me. I don't think he'd be an upgrade anywhere on the roster. I'm sure he's not as good as Rich Hill. Welcome aboard. I think that the main motivation would be so that he could go down in the minors and work on starting and get more innings in. This way he would be able to progress more as a pitcher. While it may help them at the major league level this year, does it really make a difference with that team? They aren't going any where so they might as well work towards the future.

    I can't confirm that he does or does not...but a friend of a friend of a friend, who's dog once did its business in my yard told me that he saw him at the Supermarket, and while he was picking out fruit, he seemed to be unhappy with the watermelon selection.... Can we afford to have a guy who treats his melons that way on our roster? :lol: *disclaimer*this post is in no way shape or form representative of how my humor is on a good night...this is an off night, do not pass judgement on one sorry attempt* Good thing you had that disclaimer. :P

    I'm not President of the Ben Grieve fan club. I'm just saying he's a better alternative than Macias. I would like to point out that you haven't claimed that I'm wrong about that. Do you really prefer having Macias and his .260 AVG with a .280 OBP and no power? BTW - I'm not sure the fact that Beane trades a player or lets him walk suggests that the player stinks. If I recall, Beane let Tejada walk a couple years ago. And I think he traded Mulder and Hudson too. I'm not saying Grieve is as good as, or close to as good as, these guys. I'm just saying Beane "dumps" players for reasons other than ability. If Grieve could play SS, 2B, 3B, CF, LF, RF, C and 1B u would be right he maybe a better option than Macias. There is a difference between being able to play and being able to play well. This is the main downfall of using that arguement with Macias.

    You realize there is one major flaw with his arguement right? Grieve is 29 right now. Sammy was 32-33 when his numbers started to drop off. There is a big difference in those 3-4 years. Also, is it really necessary to respond to the same post twice? In my final response then, please answer the key question, why aren't all the contenders after him? Why don't you answer my questions? Also, I am not a huge fan of Grieve, I am just trying to point out a flaw in one of your arguements. Also, why don't you ask why none of the contenders are after Macias, since he is the person that most would want Grieve to replace.

    I don't think that it is fair to make this assumption. Everything that I have heard about him has been that he is a very hard worker. I have heard that several times in reference to the work that he has put in on his defense. While it is possible that this occured, I think that it is rather unlikely.

    That isn't true. Gammons either got bad info or was just making a false assumption. First of all, I have read quotes from Von Joshua (West Tenn hitting coach) that said that Pie still has a lot to work on and that right now he could play in the majors but that rushing him would stunt his growth. Secondly, the Cubs have taken their time with Felix. They aren't going to change that now. I am pretty sure that the earliest he is going to be up is next year and I wouldn't expect him up before mid-season.     Or maybe Aram and his agent took one look at what happened to Sammy and realized that they don't want anything like that to happen again. Aramis is about to enter his prime while Sammy was well past it. I doubt that was the case. In the end, is all comes down to $$$$$.
