  1. A couple of things about this: 1. It doesn't take $200K to land a top player. Rumor is that Patrick Peterson accepted $35K and $500/month to go to LSU. Where is this rumored?
  2. plus it's all coming from some coach's wife at a tailgate? i suspect that most coach's wives have a little more discipline than to just spout off every problem with the program. this same [expletive] happened in the early 2000s when PSU was bad or mediocre most years; everyone said paterno didn't know what was going on, there was no discipline, in-fighting, etc. then the program got good for a few years and all of a sudden the rumors went away. As an expert in this, all it takes is getting a S&C coach who doesn't know what he's doing to ruin quite a bit of a program these days. Take the Front 7 from any of the top 15 teams from last year and add up their weights. Now look at the order from highest to lowest weight, and it has a miraculous correlation to their overall defensive rank. I'd like to see the numbers on this. You're obviously correct on your point of the importance of a S&C program, but I'm not sure that I buy raw weight of a front 7 as such a huge factor.
  3. They claimed she never did. May have been her agent or some third party to keep her fingers clean, but it could easily have been anybody else, considering she supposedly played these recordings and pictures for friends for poops and giggles. what i don't understand is why she's so reticent to come out about this. she told a sleazy blogger who will do anything for dirt about the pictures and the voicemails, thinking he was going to keep it quiet because they were friends? how dumb is she? then she lets anyone and everyone hear the messages and see the pictures and texts, but she won't officially speak on this, what the [expletive]? honestly, what did she think would happen? maybe she's afraid of getting sued or never getting another sideline reporter job, who knows? this girl is a straight up attention-seeking bitch. Shocking considering that her claim to fame is dressing like a cowgirl slut to football games.
  4. Vikings/Lions aside, you really think that's worth something at this point? And coming into this week the Chiefs had the 2nd highest DVOA in the league. The Bears at 27 would be heavy underdogs against he Seahawks and the only team they rank ahead of on their remaining schedule is the Bills. Come on.
  5. The story came out (less than a year ago), but mainstream media ignored it. Now with the voicemails and pics out there, they really can't do that anymore. Deadspin broke the story in August, I believe. Wasn't it in the spring? Either way the timing was odd that this happened two years ago and didn't deadspin say they had seen the evidence this spring? Then it came out the week of the Jets game. I would think the "third party" had some affiliation with them.
  6. From what I've read it's more likely he's back around week 9 which would still mean he's there for the last half of the season. The season could easily be over if they lose the next 3. I'm just holding out hope that they can win 2 of the next 3 and be right in it. This week will be tough because the Cowboys are just as desperate. Hopefully Rodgers has to sit for 2 weeks for some reason. The good news is they haven't lost a divisional game yet. That game last night would have been so huge.
  7. Anyways that sucked. They deserved to lose after the offense and play-calling completely sucked for the first 30 minutes. The kick return that guaranteed the Jets 3 points after the long TD to Moss was big. The missed pass to Harvin on the final drive was enormous. Every time he missed an open man it was because he didn't think he had room to step up into the throw and threw it flat, off his back foot or sliding to avoid the rush. That last pick was a really nice play by Lowery. Defense kept holding them to 3 but the lack of a pass rush killed them. Better hope Cedric Griffin isn't hurt long-term again, he's played really well in the 1.5 games he's been back and is probably our best CB now. Playing without 2 of their 3 CB's in the second half again was killer. The defense needed to come up with 1 turnover at some point. I wasn't quite sure if going for 2 was the best call at that point but it really was a toss-up in my opinion. That obviously was another huge play, but I think it was the right call. At least it was fun to see the comeback and have a chance.
  8. Their record sucks and their schedule sucks. The offense has sucked for a good portion. The turnovers have sucked. The defense has played well all year and I think the offense will kick it up. They lost @ the Saints by a score, home vs. the Dolphins by a score and were down 2 @ the Jets on the final possession. 1-3 is still 1-3 but everyone knew this kind of start was possible with the schedule through the first 7 games. Find a way to get to 3-4 and they'll be fine when they get Rice back and the schedule reverses in the last half. Your last two sentence just makes absolutely no sense. How is Joe Webb going to bail on the team when he'll be a 2nd year player under contract? Tarvaris can be as pissed as he wants but where else could he have the opportunity to be a starter with Adrian, Shiancoe, Harvin and Moss or Rice and a top 10 defense? I doubt either will be the starter next year though.
  9. What a hideous half. It's a miracle this game is only 9-0
  10. Didn't this stadium cost some insane amount of money? Put a frickin roof on it.
  11. It's still too early for them to hold much predictive value. I'm a big fan of those ratings but at this point I think the actual AP or Coaches polls are better. I'm not jumping on the Pac-10 bandwagon either. Not until I see someone in that league play defense.
  12. What the hell happened to Northwestern? Purdue is the most short-handed team in the country.
  13. Rich Rod isn't going to get fired, and if he somehow does, there's no [expletive] way Michigan would go anywhere near Les Miles. I really hope the old blue hairs at Michigan don't run Rich Rod out of town. I think he's building something special. They have the players on offense and they're only going to get better. They just need to start recruiting better athletes on defense. I just posted that after seeing a re-tweet that the Michigan Rivals site admin said if Rich Rod didn't go 10-2 he was out. You know 1,000 times more than me what it would take.
  14. Les Miles ladies and gentlemen. When will it run out? I don't mind when it's against [expletive] though. EDIT: Now I can't use initials for Coach Urban Meyer? What would RedFlash have done if he were a Gators fan?
  15. What happened to that rapscallion? Someone created an alias and was like "yeah, RedFlash is totally right. He's an idiot most of the time, but he's right about this." So then it was found that he created that alias and said it was his brother Robert. He disappeared because he was working in New Zealand or something...I dunno. IT WAS ME THAT SLEUTHED HIM OUT but i feel kind of bad about it because now who do i make fun of i mean with You jerk. Now we'll never read about CNS. Don't make me go to the Bama board to get my fill.
  16. Michigan better go after Les if they fire Rich Rod. I do not want Harbaugh going there.
  17. What happened to that rapscallion? Is Texas that bad or did UCLA just have a perfect day? Michigan State should be assured of 6-2 at those point basically. Their schedule is garbage the rest of the way. I wish Wisconsin would have won last week. Honestly is anyone good this year?
  18. Why is Brad Nessler doing a Friday night game?
  19. Where are you?
  20. NHL Saw a little of that Wild/Hurricanes game at lunch and had completely forgotten about the Finnish start to the year.
  21. I know some people read these but for anyone with an interest in college football into the NFL and especially the draft, these Wes Bunting pieces on National Football Post are really good. A lot of Big Ten discussion this week. He hates John Clay and really likes Leshoure. He also said "If I have to stake my reputation on a D-linemen I am taking Iowa's Ballard over Powe, Marvin Austin, Drake Nevis, Romeus and Allen Bailey." http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/Scouts-notebook-offense-7515.html http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/Scouts-notebook-defense-2088.html
  22. Matt Bowen on Martz's offense and tendencies: http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/Inside-Martzs-game-plan.html
  23. Thank God they didn't bend over for the Chargers and give up a 2 and 4. Apparently Bill Barnwell hasn't watched a Vikings game over the last two years. His piece on espn.com misses the mark about as badly as possible. Rice isn't a dynamic down the field guy but Harvin is? And Harvin is the downfield, deep threat while Sidney is more of an intermediate guy? What?
  24. Someone give me a little info on that 4th line. I know that Skille used to be considered a prospect and then, not so much. That's about it.
  25. Typically just a throwaway but the Vikings will receive the Pats 7th rounder. With the two 5's and a 7 that they can move up to at least a 4 if they so choose and negate much of the loss of the 3.
