  1. Then can I ask why it seems like you post about him and Peter King more than anyone here?
  2. Watching "Live From" right now and was just coming to start this thread. The beauty of the Euro Ryder Cup's is that it doesn't really air at the same time as football. The negative is that we usually get our ass kicked. I'm with those guys on the Saturday uniform. Sunday's is nice too. The sweaters for tomorrow are a little lame though. This Euro team is not that good though. We've got a shot. Pairings will be interesting, Pavin can pair up the bombers with some steady Eddy guys.
  3. Honestly, I'm not extremely well versed in either(read: I've never heard of FEI). The guy who does the S&P+ also is the main author at the Mizzou site I frequent, so I'm much more familiar with S&P+. Gotcha. Here's the FEI: http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/fei Not as good now because preseason rankings still factor in too much but it seems like by the mid-late part of the year I usually like the FEI better.
  4. Not that I know of, but the athlete may prefer it depending on the location and the perks that come with it. Payne and Appling according to Illinois Scout board via SpartanTailgate Makes sense, figured it had to be freshman. Gotta think Izzo will get rid of them if there's anything to it.
  5. Do you like their S&P+ better than FEI?
  6. Yeah when they waited to offer until after the offers had come from Illinois, Minnesota, Butler, ASU, Providence, BC, etc. I didn't think they would be able to get him. Fran can still salvage a decent class if he can land Tyler Harris and the Kravish kid. Hopefully it helps with the 3 top 100ish kids in Iowa next year. I think they're the favorites for the 7 footer Woodbury. Paige is probably a long shot but he really likes the coaching staff. Still I don't see him turning down UNC and Kansas.
  7. Overall emergence or to fill the role they expected Oglesby to fill? It seemed from what I've heard that after his workout at Illinois, they really thought he could be a combo guard and handle the point/run the offense at times. The insiders on the Gophers board are saying he told the coaches that he won't be attending Minnesota.
  8. Here's my thing with their OL rankings. Like all football stats, they're completely dependent upon the players around them, but even moreso on the OL in my opinion. The Vikings OL ranks pretty well in run blocking. But if you've seen any Vikings games this year, you know that Adrian is getting hit at or behind the line on over half of his carries. The success they've had is almost all due to him, yet he ranks 9th in DVOA. Well any time he gets stuffed it's because he wasn't able to break 3 tackles immediately. Put almost every one of those 8 guys in front of him in his spots and see his numbers. Then you have Green Bay's pass protection that ranks 8th and is 3rd in sacks. They suck though. It's all Rodgers having a super quick release and avoiding the rush like you saw last night. Defensively I think teams that give up empty yardage when games are pretty much decided get penalized way too much. The Vikings defense ranked 21st last week even though they were giving up almost nothing until they sat back and played soft with a 14 point 4th quarter lead. I just can't reconcile these things yet.
  9. Agreed. I've hated the IR rule for as long as I can remember.
  10. That will mean 10% more reps for the starters which will mean a lot more injuries and shorter careers. The players will have to be getting expanded rosters and a lot more total money even if their piece of the pie shrinks. Florio was saying he wouldn't be surprised if they take the Thursday night games off NFL network to get networks to bid for them, and instead of making them just late in the year, have 19 of them and get hundreds of millions more. I don't like that at all.
  11. I cant believe how many times Peppers was held that wasnt called. Packers easily could have had 20-25 penalties We get it, you've said it at least 34 times. I don't think you wanna go down that road when Matthews was getting mugged just as much. And in the past if Jared Allen or someone was getting held and not called your response was usually something like "too bad, it wasn't called, stop whining."
  12. Holy [expletive] I just saw the Bears upcoming schedule. Those bastards are going to be 6-2 at worst at the halfway point. The Vikings' next 4 is @ Jets, vs. Dallas, @ Green Bay, @ New England. This sucks.
  13. Haven't excessive penalties been a trait of the McCarthy era?
  14. I think that game tonight was a positive result for other NFC teams. The Packers looked incredibly undisciplined, made a ton of mistakes and didn't really shine in any area outside of their passing game which everyone already knew was awesome. Bad special teams, inconsistent defense, no running game and basically 20+ penalties. The Bears are going to be around all year and their defense did a good job of buckling down and stopping TD's. Still Cutler should have had 4 INT's, got hit hard, their pass defense didn't look good and they don't have a run game. Hopefully Hester just benefited from poor punting and isn't going to go back to being a force. Outside of the Steelers, no one has been impressive through 3 weeks.
  15. Bears should take a knee.
  16. This is the dumbest team in the league.
  17. The Packers haven't scared me tonight. We knew their passing game was awesome. D has been good, not great. But two dropped picks, 18 penalties, got away with holding on the outside all night and special teams have been bad.
  18. Total self-destruction by the Packers tonight.
  19. This is an embarrassing lack of discipline by the packers.
  20. To echo UM's thoughts, it makes me ill that the Packers are looking at over a quarter century's worth of pro bowl qb play with basically no dropoff.
  21. Not sure about that. GB's punter first gave him a short line drive that gave his coverage team no chance and then pricked the coverage on the last one. Doesn't matter. They have to be afraid of him now. Well I'll disagree. I don't think one night of poor punting and coverage changes everyone's approach after two years of being average.
  22. Not sure about that. GB's punter first gave him a short line drive that gave his coverage team no chance and then outkicked the coverage on the last one.
  23. How the [expletive] is this a 3 point game?
  24. This has to be like the 3rd time in the last couple years that Harris has been a healthy scratch, right? This will be a weird game to watch because it doesn't affect the standings or the Vikings' position. I guess I can hope for injuries and with that turf, anything is possible.
  25. Yeah that's impressive. I know a teacher/coach at his school and he's raved about him as a kid. Really no feel for where he ends up. I think Iowa is a very slight favorite but all 3 are in play.
