  1. Stafford = Glass Joe
  2. LOL you serious?
  3. Somehow they're the most experienced team in the Big East every year.
  4. Is it just me or is this Brad Wannamaker's 7th year at Pitt?
  5. Who is impersonating the good doctor Frazier?
  6. The Dallas Football Classic will now be called the TicketCity Bowl. Why is this [expletive] on New Year's Day?
  7. This is what I thought too at first, but I don't know. I think Childress is gone if they lose yesterday's game, and I really didn't want the Bears game to be the game where everyone rallied around a new coach. I don't think they would have just tanked like some are suggesting, but we'll never know for sure. Bottom line is I don't think yesterday's outcome will have much effect on this week's game. The fact remains that the Vikings needed a miracle to beat a below-mediocre team at home, although the Bears did need a comeback to beat an 0-7 team despite the Bills not being as bad since Fitzpatrick took over. So neither team is that good, but hopefully the Bears realize they can't lose 3 straight games at home if they want to consider themselves a playoff team. If they would have lost yesterday they would have been mighty close to packing it in, especially on the road. Now they know they have 4 of the next 6 at home (road games at Skins and Bills) and if they win these two they're right there. Yes they definitely shouldn't have needed that comeback to beat the Cards but they did outgain them like 507-225, more than doubled them in first downs.
  8. First time in Vikings history they won a game when trailing by 14 or more with less than 4 minutes to play. Last time they came back from down 14 or more in the 4th was 1992 against the Bears when they were down 20-0. I remember that game. Todd Scott of all people had a pick down the far sideline that he housed and did a funky little low-step dance.
  9. The Vikings won't blitz much at all. I think they've been blitzing less this year than any point in Frazier's tenure which is surprising because the DL hasn't provided much heat. The whole key on that side of the ball is our DL getting heat. The end of yesterday's game looked exactly like last year but for 7 games it wasn't there. Peppers murdered McKinnie last year so that scares me. Really he's been surprising this year though. He got beat badly causing one of Favre's INT's yesterday but he's arguably been our best OL this year. He's been much better than last year, don't know if it can hold up against Julius.
  10. It would be so great to just thump Northwestern for once. They're not good this year but you know it will be a total dogfight and they'll probably win. Just a terrible matchup opponent.
  11. I don't know if I can handle seeing him in purple. That [expletive] sucks. What's he looking like physically? Might not be a bad move to cut Frank Walker (who they just signed a few weeks ago after being a street free agent) and sign Harris. Especially with the Packers game in two weeks.
  12. A lot of people are expecting Sidney Rice back this week. Sounds like he was pretty much full-speed on the field in pregame yesterday. Only issue is getting conditioning back. Still, just give me 20-25 plays. No idea what to expect from the purple. They moved the ball yesterday but couldn't do anything in the red zone. That's been a struggle all year, which is where Sid would be huge. Defense was solid until the last drive of the first half, then the whole thing just got apathetic and stagnant. Then they flipped a switch in the last 6 minutes + overtime and actually played with energy. Allen and the DL were unblockable after not sniffing the QB all year. Part of me thinks yesterday's game felt kind of like the 49ers comeback last year where everything was just blah, they got a comeback in a game they shouldn't have won and kind of took off. On the other hand they needed a huge comeback to beat the Cardinals at home.
  13. Dangit, and that eliminates the possibility of them coming to Iowa City for the OSU game in two weeks.
  14. Was there any decent crowd noise/atmosphere in Toronto?
  15. He was assigned the wrong skin color wrong at birth. That play where he got fouled as he was going up but still finished a 2 hand reverse dunk? The guy is absolutely ripped also. But the big thing is his shot is so much better this year and he's added a mid-range game. It's not that flat line drive. He said the coaches have really worked on his release point and getting a little more arch and it shows. If he can consistently hit that pull-up mid-range shot, look out. Hopefully he continues to improve his handles because that's the one thing keeping him from being really good. How about Melsahn's move on the baseline? Head/ball fake right, spin back over his left shoulder, one baseline and a reverse dunk from the other side of the rim? Actual athletic basketball plays are being made again. By young guys no less. I was afaid he was maybe over-hyped from the PTL but he looked good. Only guy I was a little letdown by today was Marble. I think he's a year or two away.
  16. Jacoby Ford was a man possessed.
  17. 111 without Gatens. I don't know that any college has ever had such polar opposites in back to back years. My bold prediction is that they will not finish last. I don't know who will though.
  18. No argument from me. I've been screaming at him all year. But 8 games don't erase 5 years or whatever it's been.
  19. He's on the short list and you really can't argue that. That, in your opinion, he's on the short list? You are correct, it's pointless to try to argue with you. Come on. He's not having a good year but he clearly has been one of the handful of elite DE's in the league over the last 5 years.
  20. Hahahaaha, Childress will not die. That game defied all logic. Their offense couldn't do anything until they had 3rd and 19 before half and we called a timeout to have time to score. Then they had 2 special teams TD's. We had 3 trips inside the 10 that totaled 3 points. The last stuff was the end of the season. Crowd was silent, the team had no energy and looked like they were trying to get Chilly fired. Then out of nowhere the DL wakes up and starts totally dominating, Allen couldn't be blocked, Favre was impeccable, Berrian made his first appearance of the year and has a big day and they look like the best team in football for the last 5 minutes of regulation and OT.
  21. I hope leslie is ready to go tomorrow.
  22. Possibly. I would definitely take the top 7 from the Big Ten, Pac 10 and SEC over the Big 12's. After that, who really cares?
  23. Yeah, I agree. Probably. I just don't get the appeal for a guy like him who has had success in college football and can have much more, especially at a different school. Hell if Les Miles had just 2 of the 19 clock management meltdowns he's had at LSU he would have been fired years ago.
  24. Anything gentlemenly about it?
  25. Random question: for the few Iowa other Iowa fans on here, if you had the Ferentz/Stoops do-over, what's your call?
