  1. Glazer says Sidney Rice has agreed to a 5 year deal with the Seahawks. Bummer. Though I was leery of paying him big money if it turned into a bidding war. He wasn't the same guy coming back from the hip last year and you're really paying for his '09 season where Favre was magical. EDIT: 5 years for $41M with $18.5 guaranteed. Don't think he's worth that much. The Seahawks are getting the band back together with Bevell, Tarvaris and Sidney.
  2. That DeAngelo Williams contract is terrible.
  3. And he hasn't even been mediocre the last 3 years. He's been terrible. Tarvaris Jackson is probably better.
  4. Hasselbeck was easily the best option out there. With the lockout pushing everything back, the best move was probably to bring in a veteran QB to give Locker more time to learn the offense. Hasselbeck should actually be good if he can stay healthy. Based on what? Age- Hasselbeck turns 36 in Sept, McNabb turns 35 in Nov. Games last 3 years: Hasselbeck 35, McNabb 43 TD:INT last 3 years- Hasselbeck 34:44, McNabb 59:36 Completion percentages- Hasselbeck 52, 60, 60. McNabb 60, 60, 58 YPA- Hasselbeck 5.8, 6.2, 6.2. McNabb 6.9, 8.0, 7.2 QB Rating- Hasselbeck 58, 75, 73. McNabb 86, 93, 77 Football Outsiders DYAR 2008- Hasselbeck -334 (40th in league), McNabb 1,048 (9th in league) 2009- Hasselbeck -334 (41st in league), McNabb 619 (16th in league) 2010- Hasselbeck 32 (35th in league), McNabb 354 (25th) Hasselbeck has completely sucked. McNabb was still a top half of the league QB the two years prior to last. And his bad 2010 was better than what Hasselbeck's best in the last 3 years. There is no measure where Hasselbeck has been better. I have no idea where you guys figure he was "easily the best option out there."
  5. I was looking forward to Christian Ponder becoming a stain on the Metrodome turf. :( That'll still likely happen at some point, if the Chad Pennington comparisons ring true. They still have Webb too though, right? If they think Ponder isn't ready... Yes but he's more raw as a QB prospect than Ponder and they're both learning a new offense. Ideal situation is McNabb with Ponder pushing and taking over if McNabb stinks and Webb as the 3rd guy who now will be active every game and can be used situationally.
  6. Stating the obvious here but if you're trading Z you better only be eating a few mil or getting something really solid in return.
  7. Santonio Homes agrees to a 5 year deal with the Jets.
  8. Lombardi says the Bears are the leaders for Brad Smith right now.
  9. Stout vs. the run. Not the biggest, strongest, or fastest DT in the world, but good technique, stays low, does his job. Won't provide very much pass rush, but a great teammate and one of the best locker room guys the Bears have. Not quite Pat Williams in his heyday, but would be a pretty good fit for Vikings. Yeah I've read that they view him as at least part of a rotation to replace Pat.
  10. What situation? They could contend this year with a couple of bounce back years couldn't they? It's the NFL so you never know but with a new coaching staff and no offseason I don't expect it. As far as situation being unappealing to McNabb I was referring to Ponder.
  11. Anyone want to give me a quick report on Anthony Adams? The Vikings are reportedly pursuing him.
  12. The Vikings have agreed to a 1-year deal with Devin Aromashodu. Did he just clash with Martz? He had 5 catches in the first game last year then only 5 the rest of the year and couldn't get on the field. I know he's not great but with their WR struggles, I remember hearing fans clammoring for him on WSCR last year. I certainly remember him going for 7/150 and the game winning TD against the Vikings in that MNF game two years ago.
  13. NFL Network saying the Vikings and Redskins have essentially agreed to the parameters of a trade for McNabb but the tricky issue is re-structuring his contract. I'm surprised he would want to come to Minnesota given the situation. If he understands his role and isn't going to pout if he's not effective and they turn it over to Ponder, I would love it. I'm skeptical of that happening though.
  14. Sounds like a repeat of the 09 Masters for him. Blazed the front nine but couldn't keep it up. Phil has cost himself multiple majors by missing 4 footers. Not saying this was one of them, but who knows what happens if he doesn't miss that one. It wasn't just that one though. He missed 5 or more from 4 feet or less this week.
  15. Damnit Phil. The first few hours today was awesome. Then he missed a 3 footer at 11 and it all went away. Dustin should have made birdie at 14 to get within one. Instead he hits an awful second shot OB, doubles it and there was no suspense for the last 4.5 holes.
  16. This weather is brutal. Wet, cold and super windy. This is Open golf at it's best. Add in how bunched up the leaderboard is and this is going to be a fun weekend.
  17. This thing is pretty intriguing right now. Everyone within 7 shots of the lead and with more wind and rain anticipated for this weekend, it's wide open. 14 Americans are within 4 strokes of the lead. If Phil was making his short putts he'd be up at the top right now. Love and Lehman only two back. Fowler, Zach, Kim and Stricker are 4 back.
  18. So the 25 year old ex-felon, stud JUCO player that Iowa signed is transferring. Heavy speculation is that he's being booted for violating the zero tolerance policy (weed?) but this is a face-saving move. The press release says he's looking for somewhere closer to home. He was nearly leading the summer league in rebounding this year and would have been the starting SF.
  19. Drew Cannon at Basketball Prospectus is ranking the top 100 players in the country. So far he's done 100-71: http://www.basketballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=1796 And 70-51: http://www.basketballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=1798 Big Ten players so far are Jordan Morgan at 92, Melsahn Basabe at 69, Tim Hardaway at 52. Missouri has Michael Dixon at 72, Laurence Bowers at 57.
  20. In all fairness, you'd get that in a lot of places. He sure as hell would in Iowa. There's a reason the B1G protected that rivalry. [expletive] is serious.
  21. My account was hacked
  22. Perhaps tampering rules only apply to players that are property of another team? I really don't know. Seems awfully shady. Yeah either way it shouldn't be allowed. He didn't do any workouts, interviews or medical exams for any team. Today they're saying his agents shut him down so miami could draft him, but the thunder drafted him anyway. Yeah I heard that. I'm still confused about why he and his agent were so willing to settle for being a 2nd round pick when a lot of projections had him going late in the 1st. Iman [expletive] Shumpert got picked 17th and the Knicks supposedly wanted to take Jackson but couldn't trust his knee.
  23. You should've bet. Yeah if only I would have replied "I'm down with that" when you proposed the trade. That was just last February and you guys all thought he was the truth. 100% chance of being drafted, most likely going in the 1st round and a decent chance of being a lottery pick. Then it seemed like you were all done with him by late January.
