Don't take it Tony. 1) I think he's a hell of a coach. 2) If we're going to have a good coach come into the conference, we need someone with a different style just for the sake of variety. Not one of the 7 slowest teams in the country. This year there were 6 teams in the Big 12, ACC, Big East, SEC and Pac-10 combined who played at fewer than 64 possessions per game. The Big Ten had 4 alone. Bring Bennett to the Big Ten and now 5 of your 11 play at 64 or fewer and there may only be 5 like that in the rest of the BCS conferences combined. Plus I also think it would be kind of cool for him to stay at Wazzu and maintain a solid program. -

Last year my top two choices for the Iowa job were Tony Bennett and Kevin Stallings. There was quite a bit of mutual interest with Stallings and some reported that they had two preliminary contracts drawn up, one for Lickliter and one for Stallings. If I were you guys, Bennett would be my #1 with Miller close behind. I think I would have some interest in Stallings though, but I don't believe I've seen him mentioned anywhere. I wonder how interested they may have been in Lickliter had he stayed at Butler. -
Collison what are you doing? Even during this run I wasn't concerned about them losing this game but with him out for the last 5:40, yikes.

probably both. he needs to retire and give the #1 spot to GUS JOHNSON. He's now called J.P. Prince T.J. and D.J. I can't even count how many mistakes he's made. He seems confused on every foul or ball knocked out of bounds. I think he thought Washington State was the same caliber of team they were in '98.

What an ugly game. 25 total turnovers in less than 17 minutes? Most of these are just dumb decisions or incredibly sloppy ball handling.

Am I the only one who saw (reading lips) Pitino tell Terrence Williams "I'm gonna effing kill you"? If you're watching on dvr, check it out, it's at the 17:51 mark. "You do that one more time, I'm gonna effing kill you. One more effing time you do that....and I'm gonna effing kill you." Good stuff.

Jamie Smalligan. Looks like he's 42. He's a big guy that can shoot but doesn't fit in as well under Huggins. He transferred to WVU from Butler.

Two poor possessions in a row to end regulation by Lavender. And what kind of defense was that to start overtime? Butler beat me on the block so I'm just going to gently run into his back with my hands down to give him a 3-point play. Come on Xavier. Wow, Alexander fouls out. I can't believe Wazzu was run out of the building like that.

You think Kent gets canned this offseason? Braun started out well at Cal and had heck of a reputation nationally. Then they just started going backwards. He's had some pretty decent talent out there.

I thought they have lost 4 or 5 times. Yeah there have been 4 unless I'm forgetting one. Richmond beat Syracuse, Santa Clara beat Arizona, Coppin State beat South Carolina and Hampton (yes!) beat Iowa State.

Gordon is now 14-40 in his last 3 games. Take away a 7-14 against MSU and he's 28-95 from the field.

Missed on Miami, UCONN and St. Joe's, hit on the rest and still have 15/16 alive. That was some combination of awful St. Joe's defense and really nice ball movement by Oklahoma in what I saw of that game. Blake Griffin was a beast and Calathes really struggled. I've been pretty confident that Vandy was overrated and didn't deserve a 4 seed (has there ever been a 4 seed that was 48 in Pomeroy's rankings?) but again horrible defense and Siena's guards were hitting everything. Neither team could hit a 3 in that Oregon/MSU game and Oregon wasn't going to beat them in a battle of 2's. No more Maarty Leunen. Hopefully IU's guards aren't a bunch of chuckers again tonight.

I just can't find a team I'm willing to stick with in the South. I like Stanford and I keep finding logic in how they can beat Marquette, Texas and Memphis. Then I think they're too risky because their offense isn't that great and it could really struggle if Brook gets in foul trouble. I like Kansas, UCLA and Louisville as the other three. I'm going with way too much chalk this year throughout.

Not to break up discussion over some great games, but what can Illinois fans tell me about Devan Bawinkel? He committed to Iowa last night. I see that he played Class A in Illinois and that Rivals had him ranked 104 before his senior year. Then he committed to West Virginia over Georgetown and DePaul, was in their rotation the first half of the year then broke his hand. Left after the coaching change, went to Highland CC and had a pretty big year. The fact that he had offers from Beilein and JT3 tells me he must be pretty skilled with a good feel for the game. I'm guessing Illinois wasn't interested. Rivals felt his range was a weakness coming out of high school but he hit over 45% at Highland.

Then this should be a wake up call to all Conferences, when scheduling your conference tournament, make sure you leave enough yourself an open date for case like what just happen tonight. Really? They should all change their schedules to leave an open date in case something like this happens once every 35 years? Come on.

I would take that deal. Gallagher and Cedeno are likely going to have to go in this deal which is fair. Veal? Meh, sure. If it then comes down to keeping Ceda or landing Roberts, I'll take Roberts. I think it's relatively fair.

Huh, Gordon still makes the same mistakes he did in high school and really didn't show any improvement under Sampson and has been passed on many people's draft boards by Rose and Bayliss. Huh. Huh, Sampson lasted all of a year and a half, but really it was just illini fans bitching about nothing, huh. how about gordon's the best player in the big ten and deserves to be first team and poy? as much as i hate the kid, i cannot player hate. He may be the best talent, but D.J. was the best (most productive at least) player in the league this year and was deserving of the award. He was extremely efficient and if he actually had guards that got him the ball consistently, they would have been even better.

Our only shot at a possible run was if IU had beaten PSU on Sunday. I like our chances against Michigan better than I would have against Illinois, but we had a much better shot against this recent IU team than Wisconsin. We took Purdue to the closing minute twice and I think Minnesota could get them. Hopefully we get past Michigan tomorrow.

I have 4 bleacher tickets for sale to the Sunday August 3rd game with the Pirates because I wanted to get a weekend summer game and they were the only ones available at the time. Unfortunately I have a cousin getting married in the Twin Cities that Saturday so I can't go. Face value for the tickets with Ticketmaster fees is $200 so I want to get that back. If anyone here is interested and would like to pay that (or more) I'll do that. If not, I guess I'll put them on ebay or stubhub. I would prefer to receive payment in the next week to 10 days and would send you the tickets as soon as I receive them in the mail. I'll give you the confirmation number and I've been posting here for over 5 years so I'm not trying to scam anybody. PM me if interested.
