  1. So many brain farts. Hope you got to watch the end. Yeah I saw the last 5 minutes on channelsurfing.net. Not great but it worked.
  2. Wow how do you give up an uncontested layup to Allen with 16 seconds left? Then they inbound the ball before taking the timeout. Series over.
  3. Well Pie is raking with a .557 OPS and Murton's just crushing the ball with .084 IsoP, so I can see why they're clearly better choices. I'm pretty indifferent between Murton and Patterson. Murton adds a little more OBP but absolutely zero power and can only play LF. Patterson has been hot and is driving the ball well while adding more versatility and some speed.
  4. Eh, I think that 6 weeks is probably the right estimate. Still better than ESPN's "at least" 6 weeks, which could mean even longer. None of them know any more than the other sources. 4-6 weeks is just standard with a fracture like this so that's what gets reported. I would be very surprised if he is back in uniform in 4 weeks.
  5. Yes it probably would have. They may not have been starting their swing and thus could have turned away from it though.
  6. Not sure... I would expect Lou might want to stay with 13 pitchers through the interleague series. They were already planning on bringing up Hoffpauir before Toronto. Now you would assume that someone comes up tomorrow to replace Soriano and then Hoffpauir still comes up Friday.
  7. So who do we bring up in addition to Hoffpauir?
  8. I would guess Soriano is at least until the All Star game, maybe a little longer.
  9. They're inferior to Soriano. Adding inferior players to your lineup doesn't help.
  10. k thnx idiot Give me a break. People were jumping with joy around here when the Pujols news broke. That's an exaggeration at best. I think the most excited reactions came from those that don't want Cardinals' fans to have an excuse that they didn't win the division, which is hardly jumping for joy. I just think its ridiculous to post something like that when within the past 24 hours there have been plenty of posts about how great it was for Pujols to get hurt. Please find these quotes. I don't remember anything similar to "hopefully its broken". Call me insensitive but I don't see why it's such a big deal. As long as it's not career threatening, why do you have to hope that a great player on a competing team isn't injured? Pujols is making a ton of money and will be able to resume his career fully so if it helps the Cubs chances, I hope he's out for a while. Not considered very good sportsmanship. Plus, how would you feel if you broke a bone and heard someone on the opposing bench say, "good! hope he's out for awhile!" I'm not saying people were saying that about Pujols in the other forum though, because I really didn't read that thread much so I don't know. I'm not cheering for the injury in attendance. I don't see it as a violation of sportsmanship when it's a fan on a message board hundreds of miles away. Again if it's amateur sports or a career/life threatening injury it's a whole different story. Albert will still make his $10 million and will resume his career without lingering problems. So if his being out for an extended period of time helps the Cubs, I don't see why I need to hope he gets well as soon as possible.

  12. k thnx idiot What's the big deal? Yeah, so?
  13. I bet it's broken. of course YOU do. It's a fastball right off the hand that is clutching a bat. That most likely will result in a broken bone from what I've seen. Just being honest. What exactly have you seen? I have no idea how serious the injury may or may not be. Although Soriano going to the hospital to get x-rays doesn't sound good. Getting an X-ray is a very common, not good or bad sign. Just X-ray it and see if there is anything there. I don't remember many players getting taken immediately to the hospital during a game to X-Ray something that was no big deal Once he was taken out of the game he was going to be taken for x-rays regardless of what they felt in the clubhouse. I would say it's more likely a break than just a bruise, but you can't read into anything they've done thus far.
  14. that is probably the biggest reason that i hate kobe bryant. he commits a really obvious foul and then acts stunned that they called him for it. i wish they would give him a technical just for being such an idiot. That, the fact that he gave himself a nickname, his supreme arrogance and the way that he tries to imitate all of Jordan's mannerisms and style of speaking. Yeah everyone is arrogant and complains about calls but he just does it in a way that's even more annoying. He's the best player in the game and I do like watching him for the most part, but damn I absolutely cannot stand the man.
  15. I only fully saw the 4th quarter after the Cubs game. When the traps were forcing Kobe to give it up, why did they go away from it in the closing minutes? It was funny seeing Kobe go irate over a foul call when replay showed that he absolutely mugged Pierce with two hands. Why did the Celtics just quit with over 20 seconds to go? Could Vujacic possibly be any more annoying?
  16. 9 innings, 0 runs, 5 hits, 0 walks, faced 29 in 106 pitches. All 5 hits were singles, 2 were bunt hits. He was perfect after the 4th.
  17. I'll be ignorant and say it's a terrible hire now. Out of all the coaches out there, we take a guy that had zero coaching experience. The team he worked for didn't even interview him for their head coaching vacancy. What does that tell you? This is quite embarrassing, but I'll let it play out since I have no other choice. Hopefully Pax and Del Negro prove me wrong. I think this has more to do with the fact that they're a veteran team on their last couple seasons than anything else. It's not a good match to bring in a young coach with guys like Shaq and even Nash, IMO. Once again, I'll wait till I hear about what he intends to implement before I pass judgment. I wouldn't pass too much judgment based on what he says he intends to implement. Most coaches sound great in the press conference and can get you excited. They intend to outwork everyone else, be smarter, high scoring, hard nose defense, play as a team, etc. Even if he says he's going to be implementing D'Antoni's system it doesn't mean it will be implemented successfully.
  18. As Dan Bernstine said, you fired Scott Skiles on Christmas Eve to wait nearly 6 months to hire a guy with no formal coaching experience. You can't say it will be a terrible hire already, but it certainly is odd.
  19. Just because I think he gets overlooked too much. He now has an .879 OPS, good for 3rd best in the majors among 2B. Last year he was at .791 while getting over 200 AB's at other positions. He's been solid defensively, versatile, has a good approach and for various reasons he's become one of my favorite players. We had the huge debate over his signing and while I was fairly optimistic about it, I don't know if anyone anticipated it would work out this well over the first year and a half. I love Mark DeRosa.
  20. Must Kobe always take ownership of everyone on the team? "My shooters, my bench"?
  21. When you were just in trouble for a similar occurrence and you have been warned by the Bears to quit it, it should be shocking. actually he got in trouble because some guys who barely graduated hs in texas decided to try to bully a rich black man You can't be serious. i think all most all law enforcement agencies in the us no matter how small require a bachelors degree I'm not arguing against that. I'm sure the cops were a bit out of line although their degree really doesn't have anything to do with that. But as others said, I'm less inclined to believe his version of the events now. That's just stupidity on a massive level. You aren't in great standing, your team drafts a RB in the second round, you have the incident on the boat and you still decide to drive drunk? There's absolutely no excuse for not hiring a driver or using a taxi/limo.
  22. I was thinking the same thing. He took an 0-1 fastball middle-in, belt high that he was hammering earlier in the year.
