  1. If only we could discuss Holy Cross instead... If you want to complain about officiating that's fine. I disagree and I think the last 2 minutes where there were multiple phantom calls with no contact during your comeback even them out. You used the foul numbers and claimed it showed home cooking because Iowa shot almost all 3's. In fact the numbers show PSU didn't shoot many fewer than Iowa so that was off. Did you see the game and the 26 points in the paint Iowa got after halftime? You also ignored the intentional fouls PSU gave down the stretch. And again your luck argument is just off base. A one or two possession game is still highly dependent on variables like bad calls or luck. Pomeroy has Iowa ranked 324 in luck this year.
  2. 1. I bet one other does. Either way it's foolish to make that prediction when you have absolutely no idea what the matchups or seeds will be. 2. Davidson stinks.
  3. might have something to do with him playing with a separated shoulder. Yet that separated shoulder did not limit him from waving his arms over his head and freaking out like a clown. Nor did it prevent him from hitting a 3. Or really doing anything else except playing 46 minutes and only getting 1 board. Well then you can use that same argument against the whole Big Ten virtually. And I'm well aware of our pace. The point is a 1 possession game still is heavily influenced by luck as you saw today. Regardless of whether it's a 51 possession game or a 78 possession game. Pomeroy ranks our luck 324th in the nation.
  4. So if you go in with your hands up it's a foul, even if you don't make any contact? Interesting logic. Actually it was just over 50% of Iowa's shots that were from 3. 43% of PSU's shots were from 3. But yes you were very close. You also conveniently ignore the 3 fouls or more that PSU gave at the end. Seriously go watch the last 2 minutes of regulation and tell me Iowa got any home cooking. Every call in that comeback favored PSU. You had the exact same complaints about officiating after Iowa beat PSU in football. It's lame.
  5. It was a block. But the charge that went against Cole with 2 minutes left was weak also. Look at all of PSU's calls in the last 1:30. Battle and Pringle weren't even touched on their 3 point plays. Battle fell and they called a foul on Gatens.
  6. Jake Kelly's last 7 games since moving to PG: 20.4 PPG, 6 boards, 4.2 assists, 49% from the field, 50% from the field, 46% from 3. And all of them were banked in. He's been a stud. He's had the flu, a 102 temp this morning and Lick had to call a timeout 3 minutes into the game so he could run in the tunnel and yack. Seriously though I don't want PSU to whine about luck after some of the junk that went in when we had a 13 point lead with less than 6 minutes left earlier this year. Well I would be bitching too if Battle banked in two 3's, but that's the first time in history we've been on that side of those shots. It was absolutely awesome to get that win after watching Cornley jump around and scream like a damn clown all game, especially during the comeback. Hey Jamelle, if you're such a tough guy why did you get 1 rebound in 46 freaking minutes? Oh and Truffle about the pace deal. We're always going to be in close games because we play a slow, boring pace? Yes, nothing like the racehorses from PSU. At less than 3 possessions more per game there's an extreme difference.
  7. No he likes those guys
  8. I don't think you understand. I'm fairly certain he believes T.O. and all that comes with that package does not help you win. Especially not an aging T.O. with young/inexperienced QB's and a run-oriented offense. They think they have a very good team that was close last year and is right on the doorstep this year if they have improved QB play which I believe he thinks he'll have. He knows he has to win. After everything he went though in Philly there is no way he risks his job and all of that blowing up because of T.O's distractions and divisiveness. As much as any coach in the league he thinks character, cohesiveness and team-oriented guys result in wins.
  9. I don't really have anything against Penn State basketball but it would be kind of fun to beat them twice in a row and possibly destroy their season. At least it would make up for the anger and outrage that resulted from our blown 13 point lead with 6 minutes to play, back when I thought we may be able to fight for the middle of the league.
  10. I would be absolutely SHOCKED, if the Vikings even considered T.O. for more than a minute. Do people not remember the incident where TO ordered Childress to stop talking to him when he was his OC in Philly during that 2nd season meltdown? Childress then reportedly said "Hello" every time they were even near each other to needle him and show he wasn't backing down. Plus Childress is the ultimate team-oriented, character focused guy. The only thing that will even get his name brought up in Winter Park is the fact that the Vikings WR coach was also T.O's coach in San Francisco and they're supposed to be super close.
  11. What has he done in the last 2 years to make you so sure? I'm not saying he can't, I just see no reason to believe it's a near certainty.
  12. Anyone watching Cal/Arizona? They're honoring Lute at halftime and televising the whole deal. When Steve Kerr was introduced as the current GM of the Phoenix Suns there were a lot of boos. Tough crowd. Lute has some real shakes going on.
  13. Hey I just saw on the ticker your women beat them tonight in the Big Ten Tournament. That evens it out. Right?
  14. Holy S. He was right in the middle of 3 guys. Why did Davis just give up on the play? He would have been in perfect position to block that. I can't believe Penn State may be the 2 seed.
  15. And then for some reason Battle puts his head down and tries to split a double team with nowhere to go.
  16. The improvement of Battle and Pringle this year has been impressive. Of course so has the improvements by Mike Davis and Frazier.
  17. Well that's not a change from every Illinois game in history. your wording is a little awkward. Yeah it was. Should have said it would be in line with every Illinois game in history.
  18. Well that's not a change from every Illinois game in history.
  19. I'm really starting to hate Purdue basketball. Their fans are just idiots. They boo every single friggin call like it was the worst call in history. Yet they apparently don't realize that they've made their living by mugging everyone on defense. Kramer is just a clown. I love how all of his bad plays are excused because he was on the floor 3 times earlier. He's able to run around full speed and cut but when he chokes and misses free throws he acts like he was just shot and starts limping. Hummel is turning into a total flopper also. That was a terrible call he got with 30 seconds left because he jumped into the defender on the rebound and then flailed his body.
  20. Seriously the more we keep losing the more optimistic I'm getting about the future. 6 of the last 7 games we've really played pretty well. We have 2 wins in that stretch and a bunch of close losses with a mega short-handed roster. We're so close with so many guys having to play 40 minutes and no bench. I'm kind of holding out hope that we can be kind of like Illinois last year to this year. Both lost a ton of close games, both had some injuries but returned most of their roster and went 5-13 the previous year. Basketball Prospectus has shown the track record for teams returning 90% of their minutes is that they usually make a large jump the next year. We'll return 93% of our minutes from this year.
  21. There are no shutdown corners anymore. Especially not Vontae Davis or Malcolm Jenkins.
  22. Ugh, Housh to the Seahawks. He left there after his visit, spent almost two days in Minnesota and it looked like he would be signed. Sounds like the Seahawks upped their offer and he reportedly is getting $40M over 5 years with more than $15M guaranteed. I really wanted him but that's a lot for a 32 year old WR. I'm glad they didn't go that high for him. Now we just need McNabb and Cutler to become even more disgruntled.
  23. Housh is in Minnesota visiting with the Vikings. I know he's 31 but he's got at least 2 more solid years left in my opinion. He's the type of WR who can age well because he's such a good route runner with great hands. The next 2-3 years is our window of opportunity anyways. If you have him and Berrian you will not see the 8 man front's ever again. Or at least if you do you should be able to make them pay. I'm not a big Sage guy but he is very accurate and at least competent.
  24. That was ridiculous. Another close loss where we were in position to win it late and can't finish. It didn't help that Cole and Tate got everything blocked and were 2-11 when all of their shots were within 4 feet. Jake Kelly's last 5 games: 20.4 points per game, 5.2 rebounds, 4 assists, 52% from the field, 41% from 3. 39.8 minutes per game. He's been the best player in the league the last 3 weeks.
  25. How is the atmosphere around the city much better? Like I said for a general weekend of course I would rather go to Chicago than Indy. But when I go to the Big Ten Tournament I'm not doing anything besides going to the games, going to restaurants/bars and then to the hotel. Other attractions are meaningless for most who make the trip.
