  1. As someone who has been to both, Indy is far better in my opinion. If I want to just go somewhere for a weekend I'll pick Chicago. When I go to the Big Ten Tournament my weekend is spent at the arena, at restaurants/bars and at my hotel. Indy is the better venue for that scenario. I like Conseco better than the UC for watching games. In Indy I can get a cheaper hotel (but nice) much closer to the venue. Walking distance if you want. There are a ton of eating/drinking options a stone's throw from Conseco. Each of them roll out the carpet for fans and there's a great atmosphere. Not the case in Chicago. There are no central spots like that and half of the establishments don't even know the BTT is going on. In Indy it is THE deal and the whole city works around it accordingly. It's still big enough to offer anything you would want with a conference tourney like that and has central location.
  2. Gah I fell asleep during overtime. Dentmon's ball handling in the last 15 seconds was just sad.
  3. Tim McCormick has been the most annoying analyst around for 10 years.
  4. Fuller has some really nice potential when he adds some strength. He can be that 4 who can rebound and defend while being a matchup problem for other teams in this system. Gatens is just feeling the effects of playing enormous minutes as a freshman and having to play them out of position while undersized. Really wish Tucker wouldn't have missed a year of development in the Big Ten.
  5. Also who knows how many we could have won if we realized Kelly can play PG. Damn lucky that Kelly didn't follow Alford to New Mexico (which almost happened IIRC). No Kelly never wavered a bit. In fact I think he was the first to re-affirm his commitment. Gary bolted right away and asked for his release. Kelly was familiar with Lickliter and staff because they recruited him to Butler. Cole wanted to stay with Iowa but didn't make it official until after Lickliter came down and visited with he and his family.
  6. Also who knows how many we could have won if we realized Kelly can play PG. He needs the ball in his hands but I don't know if I want him as full-time PG. Regardless he should carry over the confidence he's shown the last 3 games when Jeff gets back. He's just been a stud. That almost feels like a win with the way we usually get drubbed up there. Biggest lead all night was 12. We had 3 guys play 40 minutes again and Fuller played 33. Injuries have absolutely killed us but we're playing pretty well. They're giving me more optimism for the future.
  7. I've only seen him play a couple times so I just have to go off the numbers and what I've read. If he were any better he would have gotten a starting job at some point in 8 years. Drafting a QB this year in the first-round just isn't a great fit when they all look like projects. The rest of the team is ready to win and has about a 3-year window with their defense, o-line and skill position players in their prime. Apparently they're thinking they can stumble upon the next Kurt Warner or something. I still think Tarvaris can be alright but they have to just trust him and give him some freedom. He's shown in flashes that he has the skills. Crumbling in the playoff game probably sealed his fate though.
  8. Minny apparently has been hot after Rosenfels (according to this article) since last year. My question is, why? He had a 66.7 completion % last year, but threw just 6 TDs and 10 INTs. And that was with Andre Johnson at WR. He's a nice backup, but giving up a fourth rounder makes me think they want him to start. They'll want him to start. They wanted him last year to compete with Tarvaris but the Texans wanted a 2nd round pick. I don't know. He's not good but I don't know if there are any better options for us. He's had decent numbers in stretches as a starter in Houston. I guess he'll be able to dink and dunk and complete a ton of passes.
  9. I think today has to be the first time I've ever seen a team have 4 guys play 45 minutes in a 45 minute game. I don't know that I can remember 4 playing 40.
  10. Good win. These guys need some reward. They've been playing pretty well despite being so short-handed and young. At least they've been better than their record shows. Terrible loss for Michigan and that might be a dagger. The new gold uniforms wouldn't be so bad if the collar wasn't so messed up. The black roads look pretty sweet though.

  12. If it was my team and they got those calls at home I'd be pissed too. I just think they were some really tough calls and I'm not sure they got many wrong. The one I thought was a bad call was with Wazzu up 5 and 2 minutes left. Rochestie threw the home run pass, after the save the shot was blocked and it looked like it went off WSU but they got the ball. That sideline call with Shipp it looked like it hit Thompson before he stepped out and then hit Shipp last. Then the one with 30 seconds left where they almost threw it away, Wazzu dude saved it, it looked like Holiday reached in and knocked it out last. The charge/block just couldn't have been a charge there. Dragovic was still sliding while Rochestie was coming down with the ball. He wasn't set and gave him no room to land.
  13. Wow I just went back and saw that. At least 3 full seconds elapsed with the clock stopped. That 3 should have been the end of the game.
  14. Where did you get 5 bad calls from in the last minute? I think they got almost all of the out of bounds calls right after watching them on replay. I don't know if there were any fouls they got hosed on except #4 just swinging his elbows and throwing a punch after getting that rebound. I don't think they got hosed at all really. The last two minutes of that game was absolute mayhem, it was awesome. I just kept re-winding and watching every play over again. IT was impossible to officiate. Shipp has to be absolutely sick.
  15. How? They don't have anyone that can shoot and they can't guard anyone. Seems like they are as good as they should be. He's got talent. With the athletes, length and quickness they have there's no reason they shouldn't be playing better defense. They don't have any shooters but they're offense has been solid.
  16. Tennessee should really be better than they are this year. Some of the shine wearing off Bruce Pearl.
  17. Well Michigan fans you better beat us on Sunday. Cyrus Tate and Jeff Peterson are expected to be out again. Then yesterday Jermain Davis who was our only other PG after Peterson and Tucker (leading scorer at New Year's when declared ineligible) got hurt during practice. So Jake Kelly will likely have to run the point for 40 minutes and freshman walk-on John Lickliter (5'9, 170 lb son of coach) may have to remove his redshirt and play for the first time this year. For the record that's our best rebounder by a mile and best interior threat, starting PG, best shooter and leading scorer while active and only other semi-capable PG and best defender in the backcourt. This season has turned into a disaster.
  18. Wow, that was something. It was a slow game but not THAT slow. 33 points in 57 possessions? If you just came down and took the first open look between the 3 point line and half court 57 times, you probably have a decent shot of hitting 12 of them and getting 36.
  19. I really can't be upset at all about that loss. We played great defense, rebounded and took care of the ball. We're playing without 3 starters. Tucker was our leading scorer, Tate is our leading rebounder and Peterson is our only PG and leading assist man. We shot 2-19 and missed a boatload of open shots. Gatens, Bawinkel and Davis shot 3-22. We lost by 4. In fairness, Purdue missed open shots too, but we had knockdown shooters missing wide open looks consistently at home. Iowa is not a good team but injuries have completely derailed the season. Hell half the guys playing are hurt. We could/should have had an NIT season.
  20. Purdue peeps is Hummel going to play today? Our only PG, Jeff Peterson is out with a hamstring. That's always good news playing a team that forces a bunch of turnovers and pressures the ball. Cyrus Tate is probably out again also.
  21. 17-2 run to end the game? Now that's a kick in the pants. Northwestern is 15-7, 6-5 with 4 winnable games left if they could have avoided two massive collapses. Probably not enough for the tournament but at least a shot. "Okay guys all we have to do is score on 2 of our final 9 possessions. OR get 3 stops on Illinois' final 11 possessions. We can still fail on over 70% of the possessions on both ends of the floor and win." Illinois scored on 9 of their final 11 possessions. Northwestern scored on 1 of their final 9. What a meltdown.
  22. Right, he should come back but if he thinks he's going to be a first round pick? It's not a very good draft class this year and ISU isn't likely to make a huge leap next year. IF he were to leave and Brackins commits somewhere out of state, I really wonder about McDermott.
  23. This please. Brackins-Colvin-Barnes in 2010-2011 would be great, though I'm not getting my hopes up that Brackins will stay four years or Barnes will come to ISU. Do you think Brackins is coming back next year? He should stay and you know more about the situation than I do but it wouldn't surprise me if he left this year. I think we all need to just forget about Barnes unless Mac or Lick decide to get really dirty. He went to the Duke/UNC game tonight and I just hope he doesn't go to to Duke.
  24. So Iowa was down 3 with the ball and less than a minute to go. Turnover. Wisconsin scores. Okay we're down 5 with the ball, 30 seconds to go and chance to get last bucket and down to one possession. Kelly turns it over leading to a layup from Hughes. Gatens pushes Landry after the bucket and deservedly gets a T. Bohannon hits both free throws then they get the ball and he hits a 3 at the buzzer. A 7 point play off the turnover and we're down 12 instead of 2-5 at half.
