  1. Iowa got a big '10 commit from Zach McCabe today. He was blowing up this summer and received offers from Minnesota, Virginia, Arizona State, Northwestern, Utah and others. Some saying he may sneak into top 100. Obviously not on par with Illinois and others at the top of the conference but at least Lickliter has beaten out quality programs and a lot of high-majors for the 2010 class. Larson is top 100-150 by some and had offers from Gonzaga, Nebraska, Baylor and smaller schools. Brust had offers from Stanford, Northwestern, Butler, a lot of mid-majors and Virginia was close. Marble Jr. had Providence, Michigan was supposed to offer on his visit and a lot of mid-majors. At least some hope for a middle of the pack finish in 2010 with Cole, Gatens, Tucker, Fuller as upperclassmen and some decent talent in the freshman and sophomore classes. With the Big Ten improving it will still be a hell of a struggle but it should beat the last 2 seasons plus next year.
  2. That's very close to being extremely funny. I just happened to have spent the night with a friend who's parents died (or were killed) when he was young. He didn't find it very funny, but I got a good laugh out of it. Not sure what that means... take it for what it's worth. ?
  3. If what I've heard about him from a former college teammate is true, this might be hush money. Wessel?
  4. The picture was much better than I expected. It wasn't HD but wasn't close to as bad as regular SD looks on my 50" plasma. It was basically the same quality you would get watching SD on your regular tube. Hopefully the wind picks up tomorrow.
  5. The only time you learn anything from the summer league is when a player shows that they're completely overmatched and need a couple years (or will be a bust).
  6. Why, are you just watching the replay? As long as I can remember it's been live. Typically it's my favorite tournament to watch all year. Last year at this time I didn't have HD so it wasn't an issue. This stinks but oh well. I'll probably just watch most of it on my older SD tv.
  7. Hey Braun, Prince is obviously done with you. You already hugged him. Stop trying to mug for the cameras and pat him on the back for 2 straight minutes.
  8. Did you just want to post in this thread? It was a good move. If nothing else it was nice to see a manager get away from having to manage by the book and go with an unconventional move in a fairly big game.
  9. Alright we need to win this [expletive] game now. Seriously that half inning (after the bases were loaded) was [expletive] awesome.
  10. Whatever, this is awesome if only for the unconventionalness (is that a word?). I know Cox has done it before, but I give Lou kudos for having the balls to go for it.
  11. Odds that you would have given me on Jake Fox catching and Sean Marshall playing LF in the 8th inning of an important game with the division leader right before the All-Star break?
  12. I really hope this works and Lou looks like a genuis, if only because I had no idea what the hell he was doing.
  13. So we have Fox catching Marmol with the bases loaded and 0 outs and Sean Marshall playing LF. Was Reed killed between games?
  14. It was nice when I thought Alfonso started to get a better feel of the strike zone earlier today. Then the last two AB's happened.
  15. why can't you post it anymore? Fred won't allow it.
  16. 4 run lead, will stay in defensively. Possible squeeze with Fuld at 3rd and Blanco batting.
  17. Just no DP here Koyie. Strikeout and at least we get Lee batting with bases loaded. WOW! Hit 38 balls at Pujols and eventually he'll boot one.
  18. Wainwright has gone 17.1 in his last two starts allowing only 1 run though. Yeah I wish Fox would have been patient but at least he swung at a thigh-high fastball over the plate. Lou has no confidence in Fontenot.
  19. My guess is he stays in to face Rasmus but then Marmol comes in for Pujols and Ludwick. Another nice inning from Sean.
  20. He was hurt for most of last year too. This year, he has had really poor command and everything has been up in the zone compared to last year. I guess I'm saying that an injured Rich Harden is still a hell of a pitcher and I think he'll be fine. Shame we never get to see him completely healthy though, because he's the best pitcher in MLB IMO. His current stuff isn't good enough to get away with consistently missing his spots by a wide margin. As Ping said, he's leaving everything up this year. When he's missing the zone he's missing so badly that he's not getting a lot of chasing and when he's throwing strikes he's not getting the ball down. Friday everything was belt high, up on a tee.
