  1. Wait, Tom Gorzelanny? The only possible reasoning I can see is if he's bringing him to be a LOOGY, Grabow as an additional lefty to face either and putting Marshall in the rotation because he's trading Hart or Wells (doubtful) for Teahen or Hermida.
  2. But what's weird is that Grabow gets RH hitters (.234/.344/.355/.699) out better then LH hitters (.275 .362 .353 .715) . 3-year splits: LH- .252/.309/.343 in 242 AB's RH- .246/.329/.403 in 501 AB's
  3. Except that radio guys and now Hub Arkush are repeating the same stories that they've gotten in each other's faces and had a confrontation. All Score guys. When guys like David Haugh or Brad Biggs start saying that this confrontation happened, then I'll start to buy in. (BTW, hilarious that the Sun-Times had Dan McNeil, a Score guy, write the article on this today.) But Hub has always struck me as pretty bitter about losing the Bears announcer job, so I pretty much take everything he says with a massive amount of skepticism. I think Urlacher was probably drunk in Vegas, and said something to Bobby. I don't think it was put exactly the way Bobby said....even he said "he pretty much called him a ***sy"....not exactly a direct quotation. In any case, I think it was probably something about the way the Denver thing went down, not about his play abilities. But the OTA confrontation story sounds like a couple of guys over there stirring the pot. So everyone is making everything up. Then Hub came in to make that up because he's bitter? Even though he likes Urlacher and he, along with B&B have been giddy for months about the Cutler deal? Then you think Wade exaggerated or made up his side of the story. Ah-huh. And it's all taken out of context and misunderstood. Again this isn't going to hurt your team. But to act like this whole thing is made up on all ends for some unknown reason is ridiculous. Urlacher is a meathead and widely considered pretty douchey. For the first time in his career he isn't THE star. Then you have Cutler who is a pretty brash, fairly cocky QB who wants to be the man and isn't going to back down. The entire situation is extremely believable.
  4. Except that radio guys and now Hub Arkush are repeating the same stories that they've gotten in each other's faces and had a confrontation. Come on. You think he just completely created this whole story to get under the skin of the Bears. Ignoring that he and Urlacher are former teammates and were in Vegas and ignoring that most everyone seems to think Urlacher is a douche and a meathead. I agree that it's not a big deal. It doesn't really matter if a defensive guy doesn't like an offensive player, even if it's the QB. It doesn't hurt the Bears at all. It is good for talk radio for a day though.
  5. In the world of sports talk radio, anyone who often uses VORP in player analysis is a stathead. He's really smart and really good for the most part.
  6. I hate you. I just listened to these idiots say the Cubs should trade Fox for a crappy left handed reliever because there's a chance that guy might get a big out some day. They're right about his lack of a future in the NL and the fact that you should trade him while his value is high, though (if you can get something worth a damn). They weren't right about anything. There's no reason he can't have a future on an NL team, or that the Cubs should get what they can right now. If they can't get anything significant for a guy who is hitting great in his first real exposure to major league pitching and holding his own in the field, there's no reason whatsoever to deal him. They are going to turn around and spend 5 times as much on a much lesser bench option. I agree. FWIW Bernstein is typically one of the most sensible and statistically inclined talk show guys you could find.
  7. Read the Urlacher quote above. The OTA confrontation didn't happen. Well of course he's going to say it didn't happen. Boers was saying it happened in the locker room and not on the field anyways.
  8. Well then. The guy has now put together a 2.84 ERA and 1.15 WHIP over 15 starts. He's averaging 6.3 IP per start. Has gone 7 innings 6 times, 6.2 innings twice and now 8 innings today.
  9. NO! They need to tell him he either comes for the entirety of camp or he's no longer welcome. Especially after telling the offensive coordinator and head coach and everyone that he's done. See? The only way I'll believe he's retired is when he's been gone for years. Until then, he's always going to be treating someone like a giant yo-yo. Welcome to the Packers' nightmare, Minny. :D) It's nice to be on the other side of the coin. The Vikings front office and coaching staff can say all they want how the Favre fiasco won't hold a distraction over the team. There's no question in my mind that part of our struggles last year were due to the whole Favre saga that was ongoing in training camp. You can bet that if Jackson or Rosenfels get off to a bad start, the Favre questions will be coming full steam. I'm just glad another organization is going through this. If you play with a guy that just seeks attention and only cares about himself, you deserve to let this happen to you. The best thing the Vikings can do is to tell everyone that they have no interest in Favre and that it doesn't matter if he's still working out; he's not coming to Minnesota. That doesn't appear to be happening as Childress seems hell-bent on wanting Favre in purple. From what I've read, they have pretty much taken that approach. When he told Childress he's not coming back, they've shut the door on it because they know they can't drag it out. The only way the Vikings would leave the door open is if both Rosenfels and Jackson have major injuries during the year. My hope is that now that it's all wrapped up before training camp, it shouldn't be much of a distraction once they get going.
  10. I heard that sigh as well, though not sure what it was for Pudge coming out for another visit.

  12. He had a horrible April, but a really good May and June. If Z would have had this start yesterday they would have been all over him. But, since Dempster's a clown everyone makes excuses for him. Not us mind you, but the media. Or people are giving him a little slack after being on the DL for almost a month. Hawk's call of that play that Podsednik booted was awesome.
  13. Buehrle just walked Casilla in the bottom of the 6th with 2 outs. He had him 0-2.
  14. I don't think it's laughable. The NFC is wide open. Both the Vikings and Bears could optimistically be thought of as Super Bowl contenders. You obviously have the Giants and Eagles but they're far from sure things. Arizona? Atlanta? Carolina?
  15. No. Spielman and Childress have said as much. They don't want the issues and he's a terrible fit for a west coast offense. It would be fun to watch in certain packages though. Just do a bunch of goofy option stuff with Tarvaris, Vick, Harvin, Adrian and Chester on the ground and chuck it out to Berrian every once in a while.
  16. I just hope to God this is it and we're done with it now. As I've said all along I think there's a higher upside with Favre in the playoffs than the current stable but also a lower floor. If Favre was trying to play through injury and was bad, they wouldn't have the balls to bench him and he would lose games by himself. The QB spot should still be better than last year and in the regular season I think the options are safer. I just don't trust them to do anything in the playoffs. At least now I don't have to go through with forcing myself to like a guy I detested for a decade and a half. Wait until training camp is over before you are so sure. Sure about Favre not coming back or sure about our QB situation?

  18. I'm still trying to figure out what the hell the UFC has to do with ESPN televising the NFL draft. The 1st day draws big ratings by the way.
  19. It's not a [expletive] hit and run and I can't figure out why people keep calling it that. He's just starting the runner, the batter isn't getting any sign. The batter's approach on pitches outside the zone shouldn't change.
  20. Who cares about UFC? Probably the million people that buy their PPVs. Yeah it's way bigger than the NFL.
  21. The way our legal system is set up certainly seems to imply that. Yes because people who kill and torture animals usually get longer sentences than people who kill other humans right? I mean you said that's the way our legal system is set up, so you should be able to provide plenty of examples backing that up. As jersey said, he missed the past two years because he was in jail. They didn't suspend him last year. A suspension to start this season was more than fair.
  22. Yep. This stinks and I hope it only lasts one year. Draft day was always full of grilling, drinking and watching the draft in a group. The morning start with rounds 1-3 was the best, especially if they had stayed with that and 10 minutes between picks in the first. The later start was alright because we were able to get a round of golf in before it started.
  23. By the way, lol @ detroit. Eh, they overpaid for a couple guys but at least they overpaid for younger guys who still have some upside and are fairly sure bets to continue to produce at the levels they have. Charlie V is brutal defensively but I love him offensively and he's solid on the boards. He can be really good on the offensive end and if they can get him to commit defensively (not likely) he's a bargain. They basically positioned themselves to be a 4-6 seed for the next few years. Which can basically be NBA hell. But they can't afford to tank and rebuild or they'll sell 7,500 seats per game. They need to get lucky at one spot.
  24. He wants to see him not screw up for a period of time being that he has only been free for a couple of days. Vick can thank players like Adam Jones for this kind of treatment. I agree this is the Pacman Jones treatment...but Leonard Little/Stallworth/Ray Lewis killed people! Every team has a roster fill of guys who have beat their wives or done things worse than Vick. Don't get me wrong, Vick isn't a good guy and not one you'd want your daughter to spend time with. But it's disgusting that groups like PETA have warped society to put more value in a dogs life than a humans. He's paid his debt, reinstate him unconditionally. Ugh. Once again do you not understand the idea of intent? Stallworth made a mistake and was driving under the influence. He was also apparently in his lane and not excessively speeding. A construction worker darted out in front of him, when Stallworth swerved the dude ran the same direction. Vick organized, funded and took part in the torture and murder of innocent dogs repeatedly over a number of years. He bankrolled things and oversaw the whole operation. It was pre-meditated and calculated. His crime displays a much more violent, cruel, cold-hearted and anti-social nature than Stallworth's. No one is saying dogs>humans.
