  1. Or tell the Iowa dumbasses to quit trolling every single thread about the Illini. Yes wolf and NewUserName. They've been Hawkeye fans since way back. Remember when you freaked out about me calling you a "dolt" last week when you ignored what I said? And went on a little rant about name calling where you started cussing and calling people names? And now you use "Iowa dumbasses"? LOL
  2. Interesting, thanks. Everything I had read indicated he had a good chance of leaving early, which was why I was making the assumption. That's part of why this is so premature, though - who knows who will actually leave early. Yeah it's not like you were off base. Entering this season he was considered by most to be the #1 OT prospect and most guessed that he would leave early if he was going to be a top 10 pick. Especially with the rookie salary cap stuff. It's possible the scouts will disregard some of the film from this year and think it's just rustiness from the thyroid. But he missed 3 games and hasn't been good in the 3 since he returned. He was abused by O'Brien Schofield last week in the first half but did get it together a little in the 2nd. Graham from Michigan had at least 1 sack and a couple TFL's the week before against him.
  3. Suh would definitely be a top option for them, but Bulaga would fit into that LT need as well. The reason I went Bulaga over Suh is that this draft is deep in DTs moreso than OTs. I don't see Bulaga leaving early and if he does, I don't see him still going in the top 10. He's missed 3 games this year with that thyroid condition. It won't have any lasting effects but that will leave him with less than 2 years of film as a tackle. More importantly he has not been good since his return. He had an awful game against Wisconsin on Saturday and was beat multiple times for tackles for loss/QB hits. Same against Michigan the prior week. Much of it is probably due to missing 3 weeks of practice, but I think he'll need another year if he wants to be a top 10-15 pick.
  4. Agreed. By the way not that it means a lot right now but when I was working out over lunch I saw McShay and Kiper doing their back and forth on Bradford's prospects. Mel says top 5 pick and #1 QB, McShay says top 10 overall.
  5. He's basically already lost an arm. His throwing arm. Shoulder surgery that will likely not have long-term effects. The last time I can remember a top 5 pick getting seriously hurt was McGahee. And the Bills took him 23rd overall even though they knew he was going to miss his rookie season with his devastating knee injury and had no idea how he would bounce back afterword. Bradford might actually be able to throw for NFL scouts before draft day (I haven't heard the timetable on the surgery), so that would be one advantage over McGahee. He will definitely slip because of this and quite possibly slip into the late 2nd or 3rd, but teams always take chances on potential elite talent. It's probably irrelevant anyway as he'll likely come back to school to try to drive his value back into the 1st round. If he is available I dont see the Vikings passing him up in the late 1st round. It all depends on health and the combine. That would be outstanding and you're right. They don't have any other glaring needs in the short-term but will need to find another future QB. They aren't afraid of guys with injury concerns and had Adrian and Harvin (off-field too) fall into their laps lower than expected.
  6. I think he has to. He has lost tens of millions with the decision to stay in school. Now he has to prove that he can return to health and that his arm is still an NFL arm. I don't see any teams willing to bet anything more than a 5th or 6th rounder on a broken down QB with no NFL experience. I'd almost bet today that he would go undrafted. Every player who is drafted has no NFL experience so that doesn't mean anything. He would not fall lower than the 2nd and probably still has a decent shot at the 1st.
  7. Not sure if anyone here reads the Football Outsiders' College Football stuff but it's fairly interesting. Same methodologies used by FO on the NFL. Here are their efficiency ratings as well as some of the most impressive single-game showings this year: http://www.footballoutsiders.com/fei-ratings/2009/week-7-fei-ratings
  8. dang, good catch. When I saw the Sagarin breakdown and then the over the type SEC love it was my first thought. Well actually my first thought was "Who did this Grit and Heart guy used to be?" Then the answer came pretty quickly. That's alright though, college football threads are more fun with him here. The SEC wasn't deep last year and it's not deep this year. Maybe even worse. You have two elite teams and then a bunch of athletes on defense with almost all garbage QB play.
  9. Okay, maybe. But if you had to choose one, who would you choose? I can't believe I'm even saying this because of how pissed I was that the Bears were able to get a franchise QB, but it depends on the situation. The Bears defense looks solid but not great. They have a poor o-line, no running game and WR's who had done nothing prior to the year. They need Cutler or they don't have much. The Broncos thus far have a great defense, a great o-line, good running game and solid weapons in the passing game. They can win with above-average QB play that minimizes mistakes. I honestly think Orton is a better fit for that team as long as the other factors remain.
  10. I still can't figure out how they're doing it defensively with a bunch of nobodies. Check that, they have 3-4 really good players, but the rest of that unit was picked up off the scrap heap. They're confusing the hell out of every o-line they face. It's really easy to make fun of the "Orton just wins" stuff, but he really is playing well this year.
  11. Question 4: How did you prepare for Iowa running back Nate Kaeding in the Outback Bowl?
  12. Question 1: How much do you bench? Question 2: Do you still call recruits from the shower? Question 3: How will the Big Ten ever contend with all of the talent you're bringing to Illinois?
  13. I'll gladly take a split in the next two for the Vikings. At Pittsburgh and at Green Bay. 7-1 going into the bye would be tremendous. Especially when you come back with the Lions and Seahawks at home following the bye, then get the Bears at home. If Winfield is out for a significant time it changes a lot. We'll see how long Favre can keep this going before wearing down or getting hurt. He's third in the league in QB rating. 70% completions, 225 yards per game, 7.6 ypa, 12 TD to 2 INT.
  14. They just got naming rights for the actual field. So it's one of those Mall of America Field at (or in) the Metrodome. Lame but they need the money when you can't get any revenue from your stadium.
  15. Not that it's perfect at this point but while on topic, strength of schedules of top 10 in BCS: USC- 11 Miami- 16 Iowa- 20 LSU- 22 Alabama- 26 Boise- 38 Florida- 46 TCU- 53 Texas- 56 Cincinnati- 71
  16. Ranked 14th by Sagarin, ranked by most computer polls. Beat Central Michigan by two scores. They have a top 5 QB, haven't lost since that and won at MSU. They're a good team, ranked 27th. Won at Oregon State which is extremely tough. Beat a decent Stanford team. They had Washington beat on the road until that fluke play I mentioned. That's their only other loss besides Iowa. Iowa was up 17 until garbage time and won by two scores.
  17. Penn State was on the road
  18. Oh no, bitter football face. Is it true that Illinois is 15-45 in their last 60 Big Ten games? Damn all that talent that the Zooker has brought in... It's okay Keener. You've shown that you have no capability for being rational when it comes to sports. Especially with teams in the same conference as your own. You seriously think they would get stomped by LSU and Miami? You also think Iowa is worse than Cincinnati? It's funny how those damn biased computer rankings don't seem to think so. They're a legit top 10 team. Whether they're top 5 depends on if the offense can progress and click together finally. The problem with your rants is, there aren't many, if any complete football teams this year. You can't make those statements about how they would get killed because no one is proving to be that great overall. Nice to see the Illini brought up for some reason, and Im not sure why? The football team sucks, its not hard to admit. As for being rational, look in the mirror. You cant take any kind of criticism against your team. Your teams have no flaws I do think they would get beat by LSU and Miami. They have struggled against the likes of the mighty Northern Iowa, in Iowa City. They struggled with the powerhouse Arkansas State, in Iowa City, and barely beat Michigan in once again, Iowa City. They beat a bad Wisconsin team, unconvincingly. They have wins over an average Penn State team, a below average Iowa State team, and a not very good Arizona team. Please tell me what in their resume shows them as a legit top 10 team. My teams have no flaws? See my post that you quoted where I listed some of the flaws you dolt. Wisconsin is a bad team now? They beat them by 10 on the road. Penn State is average? Arizona is not very good? Do you realize how clueless you are? Not very good Arizona is ranked 14th in Sagarin. Average PSU is 21st in Sagarin and their only loss is to Iowa at home. Bad Wisconsin is ranked 32nd in Sagarin Michigan is 34th in Sagarin Iowa State had a blocked extra point that would have taken KSU to overtime and was inches from a game-winning touchdown at Kansas Iowa's bad schedule is ranked 20th in the country. Seriously, you're embarrasing yourself. Resulting to name calling now, typical. Kiss my ass, put me on ignore bitch LOL I said "dolt" because you claimed I never admitted flaws but the post you quoted included flaws that I listed. Then you come back with that? It was a convenient way for you to be able to ignore all of the facts I posted though. You hate Iowa, that's cool. Just don't be irrational about it when you're talking about what they deserve.

Do you realize how clueless you are? Not very good Arizona is ranked 14th in Sagarin. Their only loss besides Iowa came off a fluke play where a ball bounced off their WR's foot for a pick-6 at Washington. They beat a decent CMU team, won at Oregon State and beat Stanford. Average PSU is 21st in Sagarin and their only loss is to Iowa at home and has been consistently convincing against average to bad teams. Were a Rose Bowl team last year with a lot of returners. Bad Wisconsin is ranked 32nd in Sagarin has a couple decent wins and completely controlled their game at OSU but had 3 returns for TD's. Michigan is 34th in Sagarin Iowa State had a blocked extra point that would have taken KSU to overtime and was inches from a game-winning touchdown at Kansas Iowa's bad schedule is ranked 20th in the country. 20. I think Iowa beats LSU and Miami. And to be fair, they probably beat the 5th and 4th teams in the BCS, so it evens out. They are ranked the worst undefeated team in a major conference. DO NOT bring logic and reason into a discussion with Keener about a conference rival.
  21. I didn't realize turnovers were only a product of bad offense and had nothing to do with defense. Regardless, they weren't going to lose that Rams game in any way. The turnovers dictated what the Vikings did offensively. They were in cruise control. But yes they were lucky on the missed FG today and fortunate to win the 49ers game. I like how you leave out that the Bears won at least 1, possibly 2 games because of missed FG's by opposing kickers that were just as easy or easier than what the Ravens had today. How is a fg in Chicago with the terrible field they play on, just as easy or easier than a FG in a dome, in perfect kicking conditions? 38 AND 43 yard field goal in Chicago = One 44 yard field goal in dome at least Mare missed a 43 yarder and a 34 yarder > One missed 44 yarder in dome
  22. Also their schedule the first 4-5 weeks was set up for them to get off to a great start. it doesn't seem like they've played a road gam eyet. 3 but they've been 3 of the easiest road games possible. At Cleveland, St. Louis and Detroit. They're at Pittsburgh and Green Bay the next two weeks.

  24. Vikings/Ravens was such a weird game. Defense completely dominated in the first half. Offense was unstoppable in the first quarter then got conservative. Offense was still clicking but had to settle for FG's. 27-10 with 9 minutes left and you give up 21 (should have been) 24 points. Then the Vikings get a big play on 3 consecutive drives to get in the red zone or goal to go and then get conservative and settle for FG's. I think they called 8 runs and 1 screen on the 9 plays in those situations following the big play. Defense obviously missed Antoine Winfield a ton today but there were some awful breakdowns over the middle and picking up Rice out of the backfield. Plus Flacco is frickin good. 6-0 to go with a 7-0 Hawkeyes start. I'll take it.
