  1. Champions League First Leg Results (Home team listed first) Barca 1-2 Liverpool Porto 1-1 Chelsea Lille 0-1 Man U PSV 1-0 Arsenal Real Madrid 3-2 Bayern Munich Inter 2-2 Valencia Roma 0-0 Lyon Celtic 0-0 AC Milan Second legs are scheduled for March 6/7.
  2. it seems like there is very little build up to the ticket sale day. it seems the last few years there have been big threads by the day before. i, for one, will not be buying any tickets this season. that's for the first time since 2002. if the cubs are decent i'll buy some tickets later in the season.
  3. disappointing to hear. i'm not giving up hope that they still won't get an extention done, but its a little discouraging. i hope its not the cheapness of the mccaskey's that's holding this back.
  4. as long as he swings the bat as "hard" as he can and hits the ball as "hard" as he can, i couldn't care less how "hard" he runs down the first baseline on a grounder to short.
  5. It was a pretty decent match and if you have the time, it wouldn't be a waste to watch it anyway.
  6. from watching all the bears games this year, it seemed that most blitzes consisted of Briggs and/or Urlacher blitzing the "A" gaps of the offensive line or Ricky Manning blitzing off the edge. Neither would be effective with the exception of a few nice plays by Manning.
  7. i'm sure most do your research on-line, but i enjoy buying a good fantasy baseball magazine to read on the crapper. my draft isn't for a month, so i have plenty of time to read. does anybody have a favorite? i enjoy fantasy baseball index.
  8. while i don't much stock into this new beat writer for the sun-times, its stilsl disappointing to hear speculation that hill might not be in the rotation. i just hope this writer isn't getting his info from somebody in the organization, rather he's writing based upon how he sees things shaking out.
  9. every obnoxious newspaper columnist, talk radio host, and dopey cub fan on the street will bring this up everytime cubs' injuries and/or issues with kerry wood is brought. we'll all be so sick of hearing about it, even though its kind of funny right now.
  10. some article (Daily Herald?) said Prior was ahead of Miller, who is in the long-toss phase of his rehab. didnt say where prior was, though. how is miller rehabbing? he was pitching in the big leagues in september? But not at 100%. few pitchers pitch at 100%. as far as i know teams dont rehab players (especially pitchers) in the majors. It also doesn't make sense that Miller was pitching in the majors in September and is only doing long toss now. That would be the case if he'd suffered another injury. that's what i'm saying. something seems strange about how this is unfolding.
  11. he's just doesn't want to pitch this season and he's trying to milk the monster contract he signed this off season.
  12. jake plummer is rumored to be heading to the texans.

  14. wednesday, may 9th vs. pirates, please.
  15. There hasn't been much coverage of it following the Super Bowl but apparently Cedric Benson's MRI came back negative on his knee.
  16. macphail was always trumpeting the "no arbitration" thing during his tenure. he's gone so that might be out the window.
  17. jimbo will get this done.
  18. the marlins have a "fan fest"? seriously?
  19. Here's a John Clayton article from ESPN about the offseason and how each team is looking heading into 2007. Two interesting/maybe false things he mentions about the Bears. -1. The Bears want to re-sign Rueben Brown -2. The team is "nowhere close" to getting a an extension done with Lovie Smith.
  20. It does matter. It may not be a perfect science but more often than not there is a correlation that leads to success on the football field. Trust me, UM doesnt have the success they have because of the coaching, its because of the recruiting and talent they put on the field. If they didnt recruit so well consistantly they would be an average program. As for Charlie, he IS doing things differently. He's making it public about his disatisfaction with the process and pointing the finger directly at the kids. Every coach in America knows about the circus of recruiting but he can't shut up about it. i'm not saying recruitment doesn't matter. its essential to be a great program but the oogling and vitrol spewed over 17/18 year old kids is ridiculous. these 100 lists, 4 or 5 star rankings and these recruiting experts are worthless right now. if a class is good it won't show until 2 years down the road, its pointless to get all worked up over national signing day and how your team got screwed by some other school when its far from proven that a thought of good class as incoming freshmen will translate into a successful national title run in the near future.
  21. the college recruitment process, scouting sites and this thread are distrurbing. everyone gets all worked up over this garbage and so many of these players will suck anyway it won't matter in 2 years.
  22. I'm pretty sure it was Chris Harris. I remember him talking to peanut after that play. i'm 100% positive that it was manning. he took himself completely out of the picture because he was locked up in man coverage and covered his man across the middle of the field, completely away from his cover 2 deep half responsiblities. tillman and harris were chasing wayne, tillman had the underneath zone and harris and the deep opposite half of the field zone.
  23. Pretty sure it was Harris. no it was definitely manning. i don't know what simms said, but if he said it was harris then he was wrong. manning was bad, as usual, and it cost this team dearly.
