If Chelsea really cared about winning, they would've destroyed them. I'm sure indifference plays a part, but considering that it was like an MLS All-Star "B" team it was still impressive. And FWIW, I think that if we had an MLS select team out there vs an interested Chelsea, the MLS'rs might lose, but I don't think they'd be destroyed. MLS can field a pretty good 1st team. I don't want to sound like I'm making excuses for Chelsea, they clearly got out played and the MLS deserved to win the game. That said, this was Chelsea's first pre-season game, they always have a handful of new players (Shevchenko and Ballack, this year) that need to learn how to play together, most of Chelsea's first team was out of the game by halftime to give the reserves some training. Man, I sound like Dusty in this paragraph. I agree with your second paragraph. It would be a much tighter match than a lot of people probably think. I attended the match on Saturday and sat with the Chelsea supporters in the corner of the stadium. Their attitudes, a lot of them coming over from England, too, were they were gonna cruise to an easy victory. Some of them had kind things to say about the MLS and the match in general.
