  1. 0 for 37, keeping plugging away, you're due.
  2. If it means more Dave Otto, then I vote no.
  3. How ridiculous would his numbers be if he worked the count more and didn't always swing for the fences. Now I might sound crazy but I think it would be be up there with Pujols and the Ortiz. If he didn't swing for the fences, then his power numbers would be much lower.
  4. Usually Kasper is pretty subdued when he's on Chicago radio but that was very refreshing to hear that interview.
  5. From the sounds of some of the broadcast, Len Kasper is a big fan of Ohman, "word of the day", etc.
  6. If all it takes is a 4th rounder and Haynes, do it in a second. Even if Lelie is not that good, he's still worth it at that price.
  7. But that all changes if one of the teams ahead of the Cubs goes on a hot streak for the last 7 weeks of the season.
  8. If Chelsea really cared about winning, they would've destroyed them. I'm sure indifference plays a part, but considering that it was like an MLS All-Star "B" team it was still impressive. And FWIW, I think that if we had an MLS select team out there vs an interested Chelsea, the MLS'rs might lose, but I don't think they'd be destroyed. MLS can field a pretty good 1st team. I don't want to sound like I'm making excuses for Chelsea, they clearly got out played and the MLS deserved to win the game. That said, this was Chelsea's first pre-season game, they always have a handful of new players (Shevchenko and Ballack, this year) that need to learn how to play together, most of Chelsea's first team was out of the game by halftime to give the reserves some training. Man, I sound like Dusty in this paragraph. I agree with your second paragraph. It would be a much tighter match than a lot of people probably think. I attended the match on Saturday and sat with the Chelsea supporters in the corner of the stadium. Their attitudes, a lot of them coming over from England, too, were they were gonna cruise to an easy victory. Some of them had kind things to say about the MLS and the match in general.
  9. If Chelsea really cared about winning, they would've destroyed them.
  10. They are paying him cheap salaries for the first few years because he would still be under team control during those years even if this contract wasn't signed. They're buying out his few first years of free agency during the last few years of the deal.
  11. Sign held by woman in leftfield bleachers: "Where's Murton?"
  12. If some stupid macho hazing caused this shoulder injury, its inexcusable.
  13. Was just thinking how much turnover this team really has. In this lineup: -1 player from 2002 -2 players from 2003 -3 players from 2004 -5 players from 2005 Why did Izturis have his stats reset? He was already in the NL. The sad thing is that they aren't much different from before.
  14. Zambrano with a great first inning. He was dealing.
  15. Does Walker have a third basemen's glove?
  16. he hustles, he grinds, he games, he scraps, Hendry would be all over this guy if he could.
  17. I want to be a ballplayer.
  18. embarassing. Hawkins, Baker, now Jones.
  19. great game rich, but dusty needs to lift him now.
  20. nice job, Rich. You've earned your another start.
