  1. Are you guys really reading what you are writing! You are saying that you don't mind the team losing! This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen. No matter any sort of silver lining no one wants their favorite team to lose. EVER.
  2. if ever a guy was screaming for a change of scenery its this guy. Get him out of this organization and he would suceed.
  3. So the logic here is that the value of the 10 additional pitches is more to the side of a pitcher's health then to the Pitcher's pride & confidence. I value the better Z attitude u would have towards the rest of the season and his team then the possibility that 10 pitches would hurt him.
  4. Should have been pulled as soon as the no-no was over. Another stupid call by Dusty. And then who would he have brought in? The invisible man who was warming up? You can't warm a guy up during the no-no because you then are showing no faith That's exactly what a manager should be doing. To not have someone warming up is really irresponsible. There's no reason to have Z throw an extra 10 pitches after the no hitter is already gone. Yes because those 10 pitches would make a difference.
  5. That's disgusting. If it is Prior's first game back after his rehab, and he is at 140 pitches through 7, with a no-no. You keep marching his ass out there. You never take that away from a pitcher. I would pull him. I think Prior would rather have the rest of his career than a no-no. I think that at this point Prior's career would be that no,no. His career is somewhat a question mark now anyhow.
  6. Should have been pulled as soon as the no-no was over. Another stupid call by Dusty. You have got to be kidding me. I want to see anyone anywhere try and pull Z out of the game right there. Bazooka Carlos would have been literal. So let me get this straight. Its ok to leave him in with 115 and a no, no but you should take him out 10 pitches later after he loses it just because it was a blowout? Thats silly logic.
  7. oh yeah, I forgot about the retun of Nic Jackson and the new guy. Thanks TT
  8. anyone know why? He was a good kid! He wasn't blocking anyone
  9. This was mentioned a lot at the time it happened by Len. But then He realized that the Anger was likely attributed to giving up 2 runs
  10. How is the end of May Too Late to make a deal?
  11. Basically the Trib is going to increase their debt to buy back outstanding stock which (theoritically) would make their stock more valuable and eventually increase which would lessen their debt and raise the value of the company. The "loans" are being funded by selling $500 mil worth of assests as colateral for the $2 bil loans
  12. This is such a ridiculous question. Name one trade where Hendry didn't get the right players.
  13. Why shoot for the moon? A Rusch deal (pun intended) to the Mets signals nothing of "giving up" and it would be a classic example of taking advatnge of a team when they need something ala the Dodgers when Lasorda had to get Perez from Montreal. Rusch for a mid level prospect for AA would be acceptable.
  14. I think that the only trades I would make at this jucture of the season are "spare parts" type that would fill a hole on an imjured but contending team. Example, Rusch to the Mets for a low level prospect. If the Mets send out Lima I am sure that they would take on Rusch who has value as a starter and swingman and could adjust easily. Another example is the Yankees and dealing Mabry or Hairston. If the Cubs trade a "name" player this early it would send too many poor messages to the fan base and it would start the media talking up that Chicago is a Sox town now. Despite the forgivable fan base in Chicago, the team still has to have some drawing power.
  15. If Dusty was fired, Spier would be the interim because it would be likely that Dusty wouldn't be the only guy gone. I would imagine that only Spier and Rothschild would survive and Spier was a final candidate before Dusty was hired. I would imagine that Dickerson would be the new 3b coach as well.
  16. <---still needing some prospects!
  17. Why not just Deal Rusch to the Mets and call up Williams?
  18. So much for my start ending the losing. Oh well, so much the wedding anniversary good Karma.
  19. Affeldt wouldn't be bad. I'm sure that Sisco would be desired by some here.
  20. What's wrong with Chris Spier for interim manager?
  21. What has to be included in any major FA signing is the impact of the fnbase. The Vlad signing is what is kept the Angels' momenteum from the '02 series. A new owner right after a championship often equals a "growt" period as evidenced in Florida. We shall see what Washington does. Back to Vlad. He is absolutely, the best FA signing in the last 10 years. Vlad put the Angels back on national TV and has (basically) singlehandedly carried that team into the playoffs and contention. Now the average fan in LA knows and cares about the Angels and there is a presence of the team around the entire So Cal area and not just the O.C.
  22. Wouldn't the knee surgey be the cause of the in season delay more then the fact that he pitched in the Pen last year? Even if he hadn't pitched in the Pen he still would have injured his knee and started on the DL
  23. So Maddux will attempt to be the stopper that seemingly no other pitcher can. After 2 FANTASTIC starts by Big Z and Marshall and a subpar outing by Guzman, Maddux looks to end a 6 game skid and start a new personal (and team) winning streak. Maddux (5-1 2.35 ERA) VS. Young (2-2 3.53 ERA) should be an interesting matchup of finese and power. As a side note, this game marks the 2nd anniversary of my nupitals to my beautiful bride. Unfortuantely, we can't go to the game nor will we see each other at all. Hopefully this unfortuantely circumstances can be overcome and give us something to smile about. Besides, what better of a gift then a Cubs victory? <---Still Wearing my believe bracelet
  24. I think that the small number of ABs in the southern league will need to be increased before we see him as a potential Wrigley OF. What is interesting is that the organization stuck with him through some pretty horrific injuries. Seeing Nic not give up through it all gives me a huge amount of respect for him. I think he should remain in AA for the remainder of the season. Its more of a pitcher's league and sucess there would be a huge increase to his confidence. I still remember him being annointed as Sosa's sucessor and in reality he was predicted to be in the big leagues by 2006. He's not that far behind his original projections. How old is he? Murton's age?
