  1. But that is my point. What classifies this particular game as a chance as opposed to the 26 other starts Z has made?
  2. Ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous. It's not just 20 pitches in one games. It's 20 pitches when he was laboring, after he was spiked by a runner, during a stretch where he's been pitching poorly in a season when he's been extended every single game and struck in the elbow by a bat, and when he struggled a lot after the WBC. Ok so then we should just not pitch him anymore? I mean what is the OK limit for you? The Pen was just as taxed as Z was. Should we possibly blow out one of our 3 top relievers (all signed for 07 too) just in case Z couldn't handle it? Seriously, why should we be concerned? When has Z ever shown that he can't handle this workload? Clemens has pitched for 20 years with a heavy workload. Not saying that Z is as good as Clemens but if there is no reason to think that Z is hurting then why not let him pitch when he is proving to be effective, chooses to stay in and the pen could use the rest.
  3. so the OK limit for Z would have been what? 100 pitches? Pulling him in the 6th? Regardless we are talking about an additional 20 freaking pitches. Lets not get all up in arms over 20 pitches when Z was throwing a good game. Let him pitch if he was being effective. His last 2 innings were the most effective he was all night.
  4. How is Murton the best hitter on this team? Barrett, Ramirez and Jones are clearly better (with Murton & Jones being somewhat close)
  5. thats too bad for Nic. I hope he doesn't give up at this point.
  6. He would make a great bench coach on the White Sox. Imagine him & Ozzie
  7. So following the tremdous rain and thunder tonight, An old fashioned doubleheader coming up. THese are always fun and enjoyable and typically memorable for one reason or another. Cubs look to win both and make a good point to begin August. If someone could post the auto updating radar screen on page 1 it would be most appreciated.
  8. Well Hill had the breakout start that I predicted so lets go back out on another limb and predict Marmol will have his 1st career double didgit strikeout game. Hopefully we will see another good offensive game and the Cubs can continue the tear they are on right now.
  9. Isn't a trade an exemption reason to the 10 day rule?
  10. Do we have confirmation that Izturis will be with the team tomarrow?
  11. This is a good post. I am in line with you. Lets get behind Izturis now and give him an opportunity to suceed before we run him out of town
  12. I am wondering, but honestly, I am lazy. I keep reading that Hendry gave up the opportunity to get prospects but instead chose Izturis. Rather then read the 50 page Maddux thread, where are people getting this info. I have yet to see any of it substantiated.
  13. Isn't Carlos Lee still a FA this offseason? I would say that he is better then Abreu.
  14. Didn't you say this for his last start against Weaver? Wasn't me
  15. Sorry Raisin's streak had to end. We all like continuing the starts as long as possible. Hill Goes for the Cubs, trying to prove that he is a Major Leaguer. I predict that this will be his breakout start and will be a fixture in the rotation the remainder of the season. For all the trades and the "ill will" toward the Cubs leadership in the past 24 hours, at least we have live baseball to return to. Remember all, no matter who is playing for the Cubs, at least they are still playing. Cubs, Baseball is, afterall, why we have all come together on this board. Enjoy it while it lasts because guaranteed, we will miss it come October.
  16. Some people here in LA would be willing to deal Joel Guzman for Maddux. I would do this in a heartbeat.
  17. Ho would Maddux deliever Crisp when ot ook Marte earlier this season?
  18. Just become a seahawks fan and you will be all right
  19. I highly doubt it. Coletti won't trade with the Cubs remember. And Santana/McPherson is too much to ask for AR.
  20. Do you blame him? People calling him out fopr not hustling, fans turning on him, not being able to carry the team. I say deal him to the Angels for McPherson, Aybar & Saunders. I know thats a lot but for the Angels, it would really affect their depth.
  21. No such thing as "clutch" remember? :)
