  1. thanks for the spot start Fred! The wife had a project yesterday that required the computer apparently all day!
  2. After watching golf on CBS, i realized he is on TV more then Tiger. The guy was everywhere.
  3. Apparently Hedo is "done" http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=4304805&campaign=rss&source=ESPNHeadlines
  4. Looks like Hedo is "96%" sure of Portland unless Toronto matches the 5 year 55-60 miilion. I am a happy Blazer fan. Especially since this gives them a TON of depth at forward and another shooter to help Roy. This likely also means that Rudy becomes a tall SG or the blazers go small with Hedo at the PF and Aldridge at C with Roy, Rudy & Bayless all running the perimeter. Outlaw is likey a trade candidate, possibly in a sign and trade for Andre Miller. Those saying the Lakers are still on the top aren't as confident if all this goes down and with the Spurs re-tooling.
  5. wait...what? This is a valid point. Money does not make a difference at this point. Who cares how much money he makes. At this point the only options are for him to get better, get optioned or get traded.
  6. am i missing something or are the Cubs just 2 games under.500 with a pretty decent shot at the division still?
  7. For all the complaints that Hendry never sold high on anyone, he certainly did with DeRosa. Looking at Fontenot last season, it was a possibility that he would be a fine replacement at 2B and much cheaper. Looking at the DeRosa trade objectively it was a highly logical move. For the record, I am not a Hendry apologist. I respect what he has done during he tenure and recognize some of the errors of his regime but I choose not to ignore the gains and the positives of his regime. There are many good things to happen during Hendry's time and I still believe that the good outweighs the bad.
  8. this is a perfect example of pure overreaction here. Basically those that hated the DeRosa trade at the beginning are just using this to piss all over Hendry again. it ridiculous to assume that DeRosa - a utilityman - will made a difference to put anyone over the top. Perhaps waiting to see if DeRosa actaully does something before the cries for Lou & Hendry's head would be more prudent. Realize 1 thing people, Hendry is all a better GM than all of you. the Bellyaching and general ego that someone here knows more than the GM of a baseball team is ridiculous.
  9. how does another team getting a former Cubs player make Jim Hendry terrible? Because he traded him to begin with or because he didn't reacquire him?
  10. Is it really kneejerk when you hated him before he got here, hated him when he got here, and have hated him the entire time he's been here and will probably hate him long after he has left this place? I think not. Clearly you never gave him any chance for sucess and when he was sucessful you failed to respect him for that and just pick and choose your moments to "hate". This is why threads like these are kneejerk reactions to an emotional loss. Regardless, how could you "hate" someone prior to them coming to the team you want to win? I can understand not rooting for their sucess on a different team, but now he is on the team you want to succeed. Shouldn't that be reason enough to stop the hate? I understand if someone else was the preferred option for Gregg's position on the team or if you disagree with the decision to bring him to the team, but still he is on the team that you want to win. Perhaps if you were to stop hating and support him he would do better. haha at the whole post but especially this part Ha, ha to you too....perhaps you would be better to explain yourself, rather than put other people down. Seriously, who are you to laugh at people and their opinions and why so negative? Be happier in life and good things happen....its very Zen

  12. you all realize that these were the first runs he had given up in a month right? Kneejerk reactions are pointless..
  13. What a deal for the Spurs. Sheesh, just gave him away... Anywho...Anyone have anything on what the blazers will do with their 6 picks? I know that they have been stalking some european players due to come in the next couple of years but this would be the season to do some trading and get value for Paul Allen's Cash.
  14. Heh, yeah, a Miles/Bradley collisions could solve some problems for us Hmmmmm........do you think we could bribe opposing hitters to hit a few more fly balls that direction? So 3 posters have been reduced to asking for players to hurt themselves. Excellent job people. I was being tongue in cheek...so get off your high horse So not wishing injury on someone is being on my "high horse". I would imagine that this is a perfect example for elementary students of the pot calling the kettle black.

  16. One thing to also consider is injuries. Looking at teams that suffer injuries in the next month might open dorrs that would otherwise seem closed. The Angels would be a good fit for Lee. They would consider Brandon Wood at this point as well as Erick Aybar.
  17. 0-3, failed to even show up for an inning in the NLDS. That's a very strong indicator that they were flukey, or lucky. So a 3 game losing streak makes a 162 game season "Lucky or Flukey' That is not solid logic. Your suggestion to Fire Hendry and it will be a step towards fixing the problem. Okay, who do you replace him with two thirds of a season remaining. I think there needs to be a realization here that there is still a Majority of the season left and the Cubs still have a winning record. Adding up the variables here, it is more likely that the Cubs are in contention now then not in contention.
  18. Being in the Northern San Diego/Southern Inland Empire area I have the prximity to attend Rancho Cucomonga & Lake Elsinore Storm minor league games. The Storm are hosting this year's all star game and the players (and teams) are staying at the hotel/casino I work at. I have just been given the room list for the players for the game... Any names I should look for? Looks like Moustakas is staying here but some of the others I don't recognize being as my minor league knowledge doesn't extend much past the Cubs and a fleeting interest in the Padres since I am so close to the Storm... I doubt that I should publish the room list here but ask away and I can check the list...
  19. Blanco had to come up. No other backup SS with Miles on the DL. Theriot is hurting already so its was needed. These 3 transactions would seem to have an impact on the 40 man roster or am I misremembering. None of these 3 players are on the 40 man
  20. That took two posts longer than expected. Ironically from a guy called "THe voice of Reason".
  21. The strike 3 pitch in the 4th begs to differ
  22. What about Mark Teahan?
  23. This game is a perfect example that the rules need to change for pitchers. Its ridiculous that a game where Marshall pitched so well ends up being what Stats show as a bad outing. This is also a reason why Stats don't tell a story.
  24. give it a rest on the Hendry Hate. We are talking about a guy who has paid his dues in the Minors and deserves at least cup of coffee at this point over a veteran nomad like a Graffino or something.
