Score between 0-3 runs for in 8 of 10 games, score 30 in 3 and back to their typical 0-3 run duds. Without that dude in the lineup who can pick up the slack of the role players from April-October and drive in all these stranded base runners. The offense is a ship without a captain. theyre the most consistently inconsistent Cubs team I’ve seen.

I never said it’s permanent. In his small sample size he hasn’t been an upgrade over Morel. Since they’re scoring more runs it’s not a pressing issue.

Peredes -.7 WAR in 22 games is a downgrade from Morels replacement level zero. Without PCA and Amaya sudden surge at the plate this would be a bigger topic.

It’s one thing to be shutout, it’s another when 9/12 shutout losses your pitching staff allowed 3 or fewer runs with 3 losses ending in 1-0 score. Garbage

That’s a glass half full attitude. Did you say that last year when they blew that 5 run 9th inning lead in Houston or that 6-0 lead in Milwaukee or any of those frustrating 1 run losses to Miami and Arizona? Win 2 of those and they’re the NL 6th seed.

If they hold on, that makes them 11-4 vs above 500 AL teams. They’re remarkably consistent. Lose 2/3 to any and every NL team not named the Rockies scoring at a clip of 2 runs/game, pull wins out of their a$$es vs teams like the Orioles and Royals where the offense shows life.

What the catch here? The Rays trade a 25 YO all star with team control for a few more seasons for one of the leagues worst position players as the key piece in this trade package?

Morel wasn’t the key piece the Rays wanted unless I’m mistaken.

There was logic in giving Heyward his deal based off past production. $177 million to a guy with a 14.6 WAR in 7 seasons with one season above 3 made no sense at the time and still doesn’t.
