  1. Would Shaw get it done? This is the year to do it for a variety of reasons and especially with the threat of him joining another NL contender. No matter how costly he is he’s the only available player at the deadline that’ll significantly move the needle. An over pay should be considered in my opinion. Wouldn’t being a rental cost less than someone with control in Joe Ryan’s tier?
  2. Who would you be willing to give up for Skubal?
  3. This was a makeup for the Sunday loss vs Houston where the Cubs lost 8-5 with an xWOBA of 398 vs Houston’s 276. Seemed like the Cubs were on the receiving end of batted ball luck last night. I’ll take a 7-2 win in a Rea vs Skenes matchup either way.
  4. The Cubs offense has been dominated besides a few bloop singles but you wouldn’t know by the score.
  5. Taillon has a 6.57 FIP. He’s unpitchable. They’d have to be decimated with injuries if he’s not DFAd by the trade deadline at the latest.
  6. Bellinger as Yankee has a career 173 wRC+ in Yankee stadium and a career 90 wRC+ on road.
  7. Also, in an anonymous player survey, Counsell ranked ranked 4th among all MLB managers as the person players would most want to play for. The only evidence we have is that he’s a positive clubhouse presence.
  8. Yeah, it’s getting annoying, I don’t know if there’s any data on it but it seems like there’s tons of warning track power lately.
  9. Taillon can’t be allowed to start another game. Try Bummer, horsefeathers anyone.
  10. You’re right. During that 5 game stretch he didn’t walk even once though.
  11. PCA hasn’t struck out in his last 12 PAs. Id be surprised if that isn’t the longest he’s gone.
  12. If you want to really flex your nuts then how about getting a base hit on a 2 strike slider.
  13. It’s happened 25 times total. The Cubs and Dodgers are the only teams with multiple 10 game winning streaks and a 10 game winning streak however.
  14. I’m guessing the roster construction is why the computer models gave the Cubs the 10th highest odds of winning a World Series of the 12 playoff team last October despite the 4th highest team fWAR in baseball.
  15. Cubs are doing it all. horsefeathers hitting, horsefeathers pitching, errors and base running blunders too.
  16. The problem is that their top 100 position prospects are both infielders, 3 if you count Shaw who are all blocked by 30+ YO old or soon to be 30 YO infielders owes over $400 million. I have no idea what the plan is when there’s 2 corner outfield spots up for grabs.
