  1. Don't you "win" when you outscore your opponent?
  2. He does. I shook hands with him in 1988 or 1989. Could not believe the strength in his hands....and his forearms. Hell of a nice guy too. I dont think there was a kid in Chicago from 1967 through 1972 who didnt move his fingers on the bat the way Ernie did when he was at the plate.
  3. Would they play 2 tomorrow if this game is canceled? No reschedule it later. THey should just move it up to Miller Park.....those smart people in Wisconsin have a roof. Who would have thought of a roof in the midwest? Genius.
  4. Anyone have pics of the field....wondering how the new surface is looking....all set to go? Anyone know?
  5. This is a myth. Half the time he was wrong. Course....Stoney people dont like to mention that. Sort of like people who tell you how they "won" at the casino. He was good with Harry. Way overrated by some. And apaprently not the baseball genius he is made out to be by a lot of people since the only job he could get was as a radio guy with the blanking WHITE SOX! It will be fun to listen in and hear the two egomanics fighting for the microphone....I predict some awkward moments! Much like their TV booth! Very entertaining!
  6. In the meantime the nations infrastructure is crumbling...and millions of Americans live below the poverty line. Our priorities are beyond f'ed up in this country. Ladies and Gentleman...your tax dollars at work.
  7. I see some construction going on down there. Anyone know what they are doing? http://www.cubworld.com/category/a_cubworld_cam
  8. I was at the game in 2002 when he struck out 12 in six innings against Houston, at one point striking out 7 in a row after struggling early on. Never have I been so excited for a Cubs prospect. That being said, I'm glad San Diego has to deal with his injuries and not us. And I was at a night game at Wrigley in August or September against the Padres...and we needed the game...dont remember which year....and he got bar-b-qued. So what? He had a lot of potential...some great moments...and got hurt. End of story.....for the Cubs anyway....which is all I care about.
  9. Methinks he dost protest too much. Go away already.
  10. In the near future: Left Field : FUK-U Right Field: DO-ME Right Field: DO-ME Left Field: FUK-U
  11. Hawks reportedly approached him 10 days ago. Please take Hendry with you, John. I can just see Hendry referring to Keith Magnuson as a "quality, quality guy". He was actually. And I'm sure you realize he was killed a few years ago...right? Not a great story. He was a passenger in a vehicle driven by Rob Ramage (also ex-Nhl'er). Magnuson was killed along with other people I believe. Ramage was drunk. Magnuson did a lot of charitable things and was a good guy. Bad ending to his life.
  12. Yikes.....a week ago I was thinking Cubs in the World Series. Now its back to speculation about Prior again. And Winter is coming. Wake me up in 6 months.
  13. Perfectly said. Oh, and your "Fail" pic is the real reason we are in trouble in the series. Our big three havent come through. Period.
  14. Play of the year.............................................SO FAR!
  15. Did you miss the part where the coach implies that its because of the outfield at Wrigley? Like Griffey doesnt get hurt everywhere he stinking plays.
  16. If they make the playoffs....they have a shot. So to pick them is no big deal at all. You look smart if they win.....and if you are wrong no will care anyway.
  17. They are all just part of the hilarious picture that is Ron Santo. Equally as funny most of the time is Pat's ability to block out Ronnies convulsions. Ron reminds me of Will Ferrell as Ron Burgandy. I could see Ferrell playing Ronnie.
  18. I'm always amused when fans think that the easy solution to a batters problem is to "move closer to the plate." Heheh...in this case......4 or 5 inches! I still think it would be a great idea for all fans to be required to spend 20 minutes in a 90 MPH batting cage. Just to get a little perspective.
  19. Thanks for the effort! Very nice.
  20. Bruce Miles is treated differently around here because he posts here and lots of posters, for lack of a better phrase, suck up to him. I cringe when I see some of the "hey Bruce" posts. If Sullivan posted as "Paul Sullivan" he would be treated differently. Both of them do a fine job "covering" the Cubs in my opinion. It's not a difficult job. You report what you know....and speculate on all the rest. No big deal.
  21. Probably busy blocking his cell phone from anyone in the Reds organization. Girardi gets interviewed by every team and is never hired. Wonder why?
  22. God I love the sound of the ball cracking against the bat.....in both Chicago calls....its like.....blah blah blah.............SPLAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pat and Len are both jolted into home run calls!
  23. O h man......that is hilarious.....I want to drink with you
  24. Yea.....I guess you could call that "ending poorly".......that big yellow "8" on the big green scoreboard is a sight I will never forget. "Ended Poorly" is really an understatement isnt it? They lost in true Cub fashion.....spectacularly.....painfully......with a good dose of agony and humiliation thrown in for good measure. I guess we are all different, but the only memories I have of that season at this point are bad ones. The only good thing to come out of that year is that it truly sucked a good portion of my "Cub Love" out of me. I still love the team and want them to win.......but I just dont care as much.....and overall.....I consider that a good thing.
