  1. Captain obvious here, it was more fun when we were scoring lots of runs.
  2. I know it's article about his offense, but his Defense has been spectacular at times, and he handles the routine stuff as he should. Really rooting for him, he could be really special.
  3. Kelly back tonight? Did they say what the illness was?
  4. Some conditioning couldn't hurt. I understand he has that sort of a frame, but he certainly appears a bit flabby. That can't help anything.
  5. I was at this game. Good win and good fun with the 90% Cub fans in attendance. I have not been to a game for a long time. Do all the parks have non stop loud music and sound effects between every freaking pitch? Not to mention between innings. Blasting crap from the moment you walk in to the moment you leave. Not the greatest place to see a game. Felt like an operating room. Other than that, good win and good game. All 3 of the fly balls in the 9th had the Cub fans groaning. They all looked like they were going out.
  6. Not what I wanted to see when I first turned on the TV that early in the morning. That 2nd AB today was ugly indeed.
  7. These two tropes: 1) "The GM is just trying to save his job" 2)"The owner is a greedy idiot who thinks the fans are dopes" are what every meatball, in every city, for every sport, trots out as some sort of original insight into whatever team he wants to bitch about.
  8. Don't remember much about him, but I do remember Harry getting really frustrated with him. Funny stuff.
  9. Is the Cubs schedule somewhere on the site? Am I missing it? I know it is easy to get elsewhere.....
  10. I don't listen to many games anymore, but when I do, I'll be damned if I can tell many of the announcers apart (except for Pat Hughes). There is a sameness to all of them these days. I'm probably just old though.
  11. How long does a retirement ceremony take? Here's your Jersey, thanks a lot, handshake. Move on. Play ball.
  12. The Jinx part is a worry. It's rare for the Cubs to enter a playoff race in August. Im sure statistically it hasn't happened much in the last 100 years.
  13. Good to be back. Formerly LemmeHearya. I couldn't remember the email I used when I signed up way way back. I left in 2003 after you know what. 20 years and a World Series and I'm now officially over it.
  14. And almost everyone in our lineup is <25, and cost-controlled for at least four more seasons. Even the magical Cardinals never put together an offense like this. Hate to throw truth on the pity party, but 2015 is an enormous success by any measure. Oh yeah, everyone knows that. In a day after we've all stepped back this will be easier to say. Remember kids, after every trip to the playoffs we (older fans) were convinced that we had just had a good season and the future was bright.
  15. I was in line at a concession stand and they ran out of hot chocolate two people in front of me. The woman in front of me absolutely lost it because they were already out of hot dogs too. It was hilarious. If pissing, pooping, eating, and being comfortable are all that important to you….STAY HOME. People go through all the trouble to go/get to the park and then spend an inordinate amount of time eating, drinking and disposing of bodily waste. It's only a 3 hour game. Sit down and watch the game and stop worrying about food, your pee, and your GD phone.
  16. I think that is the "if you want to see the game, buy a ticket and come inside the park" version. Looks very nice too.
  17. Prepare to hear a lot of mocking. Lights were at least 15 years late and so are these upgrades. Not the fault of the current ownership but the team has always managed to make itself a very easy target. 100 years hasn't helped either.
