Couldnt agree more. Sammy was a lot of things.....not all good....but boy he loved to play and he always played hard.

Oh jeeesh. Dusty sends out Wood and Prior in games 6&7....they both lost. The players lost that series. Not Baker. He was ok for the season...and the series against the Braves.....just that Marlin series eh? Im not a Dusty fan either.....but blaming him for anything and everything....is.....just wrong. Yeah like maybe if he had a half of a brain we pitch to Lenny Harris in game one and we sweep. But, no Dusty, in his infinite wisdom, decides to attack Mike Lowell. But, your right. In a short series your manager should force you to win 5 games instead of the 4 because he doesn't ever want to admit he was wrong carrying Lenny Harris around as a starter for half the year. Or maybe he could have looked across the diamond during game 7 and seen Beckett relieving. He possibly could have thought, hey Z could do that. But, wait man we got to save Z for game one of the world series. That we never made it to. Or perhaps in game 6 when Bartman touches the ball and Alou throws a hissy fit, our manage sees a 22 year old kid on the mound and says, hey I should pry go out and talk to him to tell him no harm done. But, nope we let him fight through that one on his own. Then 8 runs later we are cooked. Your are right though Dusty definately managed that series flawlessly. How silly of me to think that he screwed us royally in that series. Yea....it is silly of you. We could not get out of the 8th with a lead...and Wood did not win the following night. We lost. Manager was not on the field at the time...and our two aces did not get the job done. But lets ignore that...and blame the old guy sitting in the dugout. I never said he managed anything flawlessly. We lost that series because our players did not execute and win when it was on the line. We had it in the bag...and blew it. Period.

Yep. What's amazing to me is that every single Cubs team since 1987 has been horrible fundamentally, can't take a walk, can't run the bases, the pitchers walk too many hitters, defense is shaky. It doesn't matter the personnel or the roster, the Cubs have forever played bad baseball. Let me check my math here....yes.....thats 20 FREAKING YEARS!

THIS....is beyond doubt. And THIS has been the cause of the problems through the years. Again...as the original poster stated....with a very few exceptions. Those of you in you in your 20's and 30's....buckle up....this team has been breaking peoples hearts for 90+ years. What you are seeing is not new. Its been the norm forever. That they havent gotten lucky and stumbled into a World Series along the way is astonishing.

Good. I'm glad he rubbed it in. What's the point of booing an ex-cub? If Toronto came to Wrigley, does anyone think Frank Thomas would get the same negative reception that Sammy got at the Cell? Uh.....yes. Without a doubt.

We are Cub fans. All we can do is kid ourselves.

You have got to be kidding? Right? You single out the Score670....many of the hosts are Sox fans....so they will be pro-Sox. And the team won the frikkin World Series recently.....is supposed to be reported negatively? In spite of the Cubs....ahem.....less than spectacular history...they are still THE team in town....besides the Bears.

Prior has been ineffective for a few years. The times when he has been ok....he has been "ok" (not dominating like 03) ....but when he's bad.....he's gotten bar-b-qued (more often than not). What on earth (other than wishful thinking and hope) makes you think he is going to become effective in 2 weeks? It's a shame.....but he looks like he's in the pitcher death spiral of injuries...loss of control...and loss of velocity. When that happens.....you crash....and usually don't survive. It happens frequently to pitchers.

If they keep saying the right things and at least attempt to apply it, then I'm willing to stick with Lou and his crew even if success doesn't come this year. It's refreshing just to hear sanity and reason for a change. You are? After 100 years and the payroll they have now? You are satisfied if the talk is good? Sanity and reason? Thats enough? How about wins and a trip to the World Series? I'll accept Insanity and chaos....if it means a winning ballclub and a trip to the World Series. It's really something to see how Cub fans begin to lay the ground work for being satisfied....even if the club continues to fail.

Hmmmm........0-2 and have played like crap their first two games. What exactly is different? What would be "refreshing" would be solid play and wins......not what spin the manager puts on the situation. Way too much made of Baker as the problem with the team.......way too much. Players either execute or they dont. Piniella's managed some great teams....and some real dogs. He is one in a very, very long line of Cub Saviours. Dont get your hopes up.

Prior? Even when he was "healthy"....the last few years....he has been very average. Whatever happened....I dont know....but the "Prior as Saviour" idea.....died a few years ago. I think most fans haved moved on....its the smart thing to do.

Bingo. You are exactly right. This team needs a serious shake up....like when Dallas Green/Jim Fry came in. Something big. Moves like promoting the marketing guy to be President....is like making the Cruise Director Captain of the ship. It's very small time, and likely to end in disaster. Not that disaster really even matters anymore.....after 2003....this year....all the other years....honestly.....how could it get any worse? Very hard to be optimistic about things.

Lots of coaches have been churned up by the Cub experience over the last 100 years. Baker is just the latest. I wouldnt get your hopes up on this making much of a difference.....no matter who is chosen.

Do you have to give up your seat for viewing the current Cubs meltdown? I guess it does not matter...since it happens EVERY YEAR. When "things turn sour" (I guess that means them not winning.....status quo in Cubland) it wont matter. They won it all. It would be wise for Cub fans to ignore the South side for the forseeable future. They actually have a shot of becoming the baseball team in this town (if they arent already). I would have thought that an impossibility a few years ago. Its now a probability. Complaining about anything down there is going to be rightfully viewed as jealousy and sour grapes. Save your venom for the Cubs front office. They deserve it. Since your response here seems personal I have to say that your pattern of telling others how they can feel about the Sox, Guillen, or anything short of the Cubs is really irritating. Your "they won it all" statement doesn't excuse the team or its manager from being professional. Please stop trying to be the mouth piece of Cubs fans by advising us where our focus should be. It's much easier to be a good winner than a good loser. Unfortunately, White Sox fans have failed at both. 1000 posts for a team you are not a fan of? Point? It could also be called....."Cub fans have their panties in a bunch" because World Series Manager for the hated White Sox tells it like it is about blowhard reporter. Nothing Ozzie said there offends me....he happens to be right. And his team won the World Series last year. And just annihilated the Cardinals. A couple of things that Cubs havent been able to figure out how to do. We can go back to crying about WoPriDust now.
