  1. The Cubs are not in the hunt this late very often. Prospects may or may not work out. If you have to overpay a little to get Suarez, do it. 36 Home Runs and 87 RBI year to date. Shaw can give the other infield guys a rest, and still play 3rd a bit down the stretch. This offense can go cold. It has, and it will. We need all the help we can get. If we do make the playoffs and are making a run, who do you want walking to the plate with a few men on and the score tied in the 8th inning? Shaw or Suarez? Get too cute about "prospects" and you will be reading your stats year after year instead of playing and possibly winning in October. 2025 SEASON STAVG
  2. The article pointed out this angle: "Not only are his incentives and the team's no longer misaligned, but he can now avoid having any negotiating partner try to use his own contract status as leverage against him. If Hoyer (as, based on his personality, we might well imagine he would) would feel unduly guilty about trading a haul of prospects for a high-impact, short-term piece, that internal conflict is now resolved, too"
  3. Milwaukee has been ridiculous in the last 6 weeks, and we have played well. St. Louis is buried (knock knock). The current standings have very little to do with the Cubs and everything to do with the run the Brewers have had. If they (Brew) continue playing the way they have, they deserve to win the division. That is highly unlikely. We have survived minus 3 of our starters. Let's get some reinforcements and see what happens. I like our chances.
  4. But we signed Counsel away from them? He gets paid tons of money to be great......right? Do we have a better manager?
  5. I assume he can't play first? Too bad, he's got more to offer than Turner and would still be around in case the Catcher posistion became a problem again. I'd take him as a pinch hitter any day over Turner at this point.
  6. What is the story with the green shirts in the crowd?
  7. Possible horsefeathers show on the horizon. One hit batter will be all it takes.
  8. I'm gonna miss Stanley Cup playoffs and Cubs on at the same time. It's be a fun few months.
  9. Captain obvious here, it was more fun when we were scoring lots of runs.
  10. I know it's article about his offense, but his Defense has been spectacular at times, and he handles the routine stuff as he should. Really rooting for him, he could be really special.
  11. Kelly back tonight? Did they say what the illness was?
  12. Some conditioning couldn't hurt. I understand he has that sort of a frame, but he certainly appears a bit flabby. That can't help anything.
  13. I was at this game. Good win and good fun with the 90% Cub fans in attendance. I have not been to a game for a long time. Do all the parks have non stop loud music and sound effects between every freaking pitch? Not to mention between innings. Blasting crap from the moment you walk in to the moment you leave. Not the greatest place to see a game. Felt like an operating room. Other than that, good win and good game. All 3 of the fly balls in the 9th had the Cub fans groaning. They all looked like they were going out.
  14. Not what I wanted to see when I first turned on the TV that early in the morning. That 2nd AB today was ugly indeed.
