  1. Steve Stones a blowhard Agreed. But it sounded like he was just relaying facts rather than opinions in this case....and for a change.
  2. Steve Stone said on B&B today that there was an incident on a Cub charter (Plane)where Eyre was late for the plane and had to be restrained and taken to the back of the plane when he arrived. I think I heard them say the argument was with Lou. Stone hinted strongly that Eyre has off field issues of some sort. Anyone else hear that interview? I was half listening.
  3. So the blister is ok now. See how he feels the next day? Isnt the blister a visual thing? I mean its either a open blister or its not. This thing just seems weird.
  4. I'm not a doctor, but I believe it is quite possible for a blister to morph into an wound/open sore. "I'm beyond antsy," he said. "It's the (darndest) thing I've ever seen as far as skin. I can't explain it, and nobody here can explain it. I've been to several doctors, and I just haven't gotten any better. We tried just about everything we could think of and probably tried some things we shouldn't have. Time will be the best thing for it." Apparently several doctors can't explain it. No mention of a "popped blister" that just needs to heal. Instead it's "nobody can explain it."
  5. "It's not a blister anymore. It's an open wound." A little change in diagnosis. Because a blister would have healed by now. Gotta say something.
  6. Kind of why I brought it up. I figure there is some validity to the "he's throwing a baseball which aggravates it theory" but 3 weeks....and no real end in sight sends up some red flags. Even if it is just a blister.....is it bad enough to be a chronic problem that keeps him out of the lineup consistently?
  7. The Cubs history of being less than truthful about the nature of their pitchers conditions does not give you pause? Especially in light of who we are talking about? Explain how hiding this right now makes any kind sense. I cant. Perhaps it doesnt. But it seemed like we were dribbled all sorts of things with Prior and Wood that made it try to appear that the problems they were having were not serious. I dont know why they did it then...so I have no explanation as to why they would do it now. But......I think its safe to say that if they said that Kerry was having arm trouble it would cause great concern amongst the fanbase and as a result the media. So maybe they just dont want to freak people out or cause a media storm. Or maybe he just has a blister. I'm a Cubs fan. I have been beaten into being cynical.

  9. Whew. Ok. Glad its just me then.
  10. Why do I expect to hear that this finger problem has somehow morphed into something worse.
  11. Don't you "win" when you outscore your opponent?
  12. He does. I shook hands with him in 1988 or 1989. Could not believe the strength in his hands....and his forearms. Hell of a nice guy too. I dont think there was a kid in Chicago from 1967 through 1972 who didnt move his fingers on the bat the way Ernie did when he was at the plate.
  13. Would they play 2 tomorrow if this game is canceled? No reschedule it later. THey should just move it up to Miller Park.....those smart people in Wisconsin have a roof. Who would have thought of a roof in the midwest? Genius.
  14. Anyone have pics of the field....wondering how the new surface is looking....all set to go? Anyone know?
  15. This is a myth. Half the time he was wrong. Course....Stoney people dont like to mention that. Sort of like people who tell you how they "won" at the casino. He was good with Harry. Way overrated by some. And apaprently not the baseball genius he is made out to be by a lot of people since the only job he could get was as a radio guy with the blanking WHITE SOX! It will be fun to listen in and hear the two egomanics fighting for the microphone....I predict some awkward moments! Much like their TV booth! Very entertaining!
  16. In the meantime the nations infrastructure is crumbling...and millions of Americans live below the poverty line. Our priorities are beyond f'ed up in this country. Ladies and Gentleman...your tax dollars at work.
  17. I see some construction going on down there. Anyone know what they are doing? http://www.cubworld.com/category/a_cubworld_cam
  18. I was at the game in 2002 when he struck out 12 in six innings against Houston, at one point striking out 7 in a row after struggling early on. Never have I been so excited for a Cubs prospect. That being said, I'm glad San Diego has to deal with his injuries and not us. And I was at a night game at Wrigley in August or September against the Padres...and we needed the game...dont remember which year....and he got bar-b-qued. So what? He had a lot of potential...some great moments...and got hurt. End of story.....for the Cubs anyway....which is all I care about.
  19. Methinks he dost protest too much. Go away already.
  20. In the near future: Left Field : FUK-U Right Field: DO-ME Right Field: DO-ME Left Field: FUK-U
  21. Hawks reportedly approached him 10 days ago. Please take Hendry with you, John. I can just see Hendry referring to Keith Magnuson as a "quality, quality guy". He was actually. And I'm sure you realize he was killed a few years ago...right? Not a great story. He was a passenger in a vehicle driven by Rob Ramage (also ex-Nhl'er). Magnuson was killed along with other people I believe. Ramage was drunk. Magnuson did a lot of charitable things and was a good guy. Bad ending to his life.
  22. Yikes.....a week ago I was thinking Cubs in the World Series. Now its back to speculation about Prior again. And Winter is coming. Wake me up in 6 months.
  23. Perfectly said. Oh, and your "Fail" pic is the real reason we are in trouble in the series. Our big three havent come through. Period.
