  1. Bote is an interesting comparison. I think Shaw is more athletic and has a better hit tool. Shaw gives me Marcus Giles vibes. I think Shaw has a lot of potential but there's obviously a chance he doesn't get there. He needs time. Fellow stocky-man Altuve took a few full seasons before he started hitting well.
  2. Spring training and April are statistically the times where the most pitcher injuries occur as guys ramp up workload and pitch counts. Maybe they should add a rule where teams can carry an extra pitcher or 2 in March/ April
  3. Even before yesterday's game the Cubs are 12th in runs scored. Tough time of year to hit for many teams
  4. Every AB is a chess-match between pitcher and batter and PCA is up there playing Hungry Hungry Hippos.
  5. Yeah the pen the tired but you can't leave Assad out there clearly toasted 3rd time through the order. Horton and Boyd injuries really hurting our longman depth.
  6. PCA vs LHP should just take until he gets a strike and then bunt. Maybe it works 3 outta 10 times.
  7. I really hope this Shaw supersub experiment pays off down the line because he's looked rough at 1b and at times in RF. Putting the guy with the shortest wingspan on the team at 1b is a pretty desperate play.
  8. Guess that's why Maton didn't pitch for like a week previous
  9. Balls really die in those alleys in that stadium
  10. Assad is a competitor, no doubt. Always looks comfortable out there. Not extraordinarily gifted physically but hard not to like him.
  11. I never said anything of the sort, in fact I agreed with you.
  12. Can't judge anything based on a week or 2. Also can't judge much from last year given he was only 22 and had only around a month of PA in the minors Cam Smith has always been a really good prospect and athlete. I think the trade was stupid regardless of how he turns out.
  13. They still haven't disclosed the terms. Guess Jed didn't like all the questions in his walk year lol
  14. Cubs let the guy they ground into the dirt last year coming off TJS to throw 98 pitches in his 2nd start on April 1.
  15. Teams and players go through hot and cold streaks all the time, plus injuries happen. There's nothing to be concerned about with either the 2nd half of last year or these 7 games.
  16. Better news than his elbow exploding i guess. Hopefully tendonitis or something.
  17. Not just elbow issues. He can't stay on the field.
