  1. They might do that, he seems the obvious man out with Soroka. Even to save his arm. I'm sure he'll be working on his 3rd pitch this winter. LHB have destroyed him. Having a solid change-up would be huge for him.
  2. 5% then? They've passed on every single star FA over the last 10 years or so and slashed payroll by 20m this past offseason. There's no reason to be optimistic, the evidence just doesn't support it. If they shock us great, but i'm assuming he's gone and moving on and not setting myself up for the annual FA letdown. We've got Seiya/Caissie/Alcantara/Ballesteros/Long to fit into the RF and DH slots next year, and Shaw should hit better. If they sign a good SP we'll still be a good team with a good offense.
  3. Gallagher was something like 8th on our list according to MLB.com Yeah maybe they could have acquired another pen upgrade. I like Kittredge. Our pitching is absolutely below-average, it's 25th in xFIP and fWAR. Our gloves are saving its butt.
  4. Jed said on Marquee that none of the controllable SP moved, and hardly any of the good rental SP moved. He's right. I can only name Kelly as a traded SP who would be an upgrade to Taillon etc. The others are all meh or worse or significantly flawed in some way. The Brewers aren't trading us Cortes. Alcantara, Cabrera, Gore, Ryan, Cease, Suarez etc. None of these guys were moved. SP, and especially good controllable SP, are at such a premium now that maybe teams are holding on to them or asking the world. Reality is Soroka is one of the better SP that were traded in the last 48 hrs. Jed did fine.
  5. If they lose a playoff series because a backend SP does poorly we're never going to stop taking about it. For years. Jed's put himself in a corner here. There's also a very real possibly they lose the division and settle with a wild card. It's difficult to see how they'll be as good down the stretch if so many SP will be on fumes or injury risks skyrocket.
  6. Rea could be getting playoff starts.
  7. 1% before, 1% now. A tiger who loves money doesn't change its stripes.
  8. Gonna go look at naked boobies on the internet now.
  9. Nobody should have ever expected differently.
  10. Imagine if Boyd and Horton need to be shut down. We'll limp to the finish line.
  11. Yeah all the below-average SP depth we have doesn't mean anything
  12. I'm good with any kind of SP that doesn't suck
  13. He's like Bruhan but average instead of garbage. Plays anywhere
  14. Jed doesn't typically make deadline deals at the very last minute. Bryant was the only exception i can think of, but based on that return he was probably desperate and couldn't get any better deal done.
  15. In all honesty it would be pretty stupid to go cheap in the offseason and sign Rea and then pony up big prospects for 2 months of some SP.
  16. Everybody play this on loop for the next hour! https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=9jK-NcRmVcw&pp=ygUWZXVyb3BlIGZpbmFsIGNvdW50ZG93bg%3D%3D
