  1. Jed needs to be asked about the velo drop. They can't not have known about it. Somebody in the FO might need to be fired for this, and it won't be Jed re: extension.
  2. I have to say Soroka looked pretty dejected on the mound today. Is that just him or was he feeling it through his start? Maybe so since he finished the 2nd inning, which is better I guess than leaving right after a pitch. Hopefully its minor.
  3. They're saying more mid-Aug. Taillon has already made a start in Iowa.
  4. I went through his starts this year. He was. 94-95 towards the start of the season, then sat 92-93 for June/July, then the last 2-3 starts has at times dipped down to 89-90. Will be interesting to see him today.
  5. Everyone gets hot and cold during a season. This just happens to be the time when Nico and Shaw (and Turner?) are swinging well and the big guns Seiya/Tucker/Busch are cold at the same time.
  6. Pitching freak Misiorowski of the Brewers on the IL now due to bruise from Seiya's line drive. Chourio down and Flelick left the game today with a sore knee.
  7. 5-5 our last 10 games, it's not the end of the world. Some of our big bats are flat, they're too good to stay that way.
  8. Thielbar and Braser etc weren't going to pitch like Mariano Rivera the entire year. Hoping the bats get going again soon. Play Castro every day for the next couple of weeks and give all the everyday guys a day or 2 off. The ASB didn't do much for some guys so let's just hope they start hitting.
  9. Stroman's velo is down to 89.6 mph this year. He's probably cooked. Probably signs with a team out of contention who will give him starts
  10. Apparently SP Rogers never got to a 3 ball count in the entire game. That's crazy.
  11. 30% is a 1 out of 3 chance though, which is very high. I'll mention something you'll like though. I thought about what other teams might want to sign him, and there's no obvious team. If you look at any other team with the payroll to sign him at 40m AAV almost all of them are stacked with big star contracts already, Dodgers and Padres are likely tapped out, Yanks have Judge/Cole/Fried/Rodon, Phillies have Turner/Harper, Mets have Soto/Lindor, Jays have Vlad Jr, Texas has Seager/DeGrom, Giants have Devers/Adames/Chapman, Braves don't do these contracts etc. Biggest contender might be the Red Sox (just dumped Devers' contract), and maybe a big spender like the Yanks wanting to add more. Astros may not have dumped him if they wanted to resign him. If the Cubs want him I think they have a great shot, but again I really doubt Ricketts on that, and Jed is notorious for seeking good value contracts.
  12. Yeah It would be ridiculous to trade OF prospects before extending Tucker even if they had all intentions to extend him.
  13. Yeah. Hopefully Assad and Taillon come back. It would give them a chance to rest Horton and/or Boyd for Sept/Oct. We play the Brewers in a 5-game series (including a double-header) at Wrigley in mid-Aug, Hopefully those guys are back by then.
  14. We'll agree to disagree again on this. Tom has 400 million+ reasons to just let him and walk.
  15. They might do that, he seems the obvious man out with Soroka. Even to save his arm. I'm sure he'll be working on his 3rd pitch this winter. LHB have destroyed him. Having a solid change-up would be huge for him.
  16. 5% then? They've passed on every single star FA over the last 10 years or so and slashed payroll by 20m this past offseason. There's no reason to be optimistic, the evidence just doesn't support it. If they shock us great, but i'm assuming he's gone and moving on and not setting myself up for the annual FA letdown. We've got Seiya/Caissie/Alcantara/Ballesteros/Long to fit into the RF and DH slots next year, and Shaw should hit better. If they sign a good SP we'll still be a good team with a good offense.
  17. Gallagher was something like 8th on our list according to MLB.com Yeah maybe they could have acquired another pen upgrade. I like Kittredge. Our pitching is absolutely below-average, it's 25th in xFIP and fWAR. Our gloves are saving its butt.
  18. Jed said on Marquee that none of the controllable SP moved, and hardly any of the good rental SP moved. He's right. I can only name Kelly as a traded SP who would be an upgrade to Taillon etc. The others are all meh or worse or significantly flawed in some way. The Brewers aren't trading us Cortes. Alcantara, Cabrera, Gore, Ryan, Cease, Suarez etc. None of these guys were moved. SP, and especially good controllable SP, are at such a premium now that maybe teams are holding on to them or asking the world. Reality is Soroka is one of the better SP that were traded in the last 48 hrs. Jed did fine.
  19. If they lose a playoff series because a backend SP does poorly we're never going to stop taking about it. For years. Jed's put himself in a corner here. There's also a very real possibly they lose the division and settle with a wild card. It's difficult to see how they'll be as good down the stretch if so many SP will be on fumes or injury risks skyrocket.
  20. Rea could be getting playoff starts.
  21. 1% before, 1% now. A tiger who loves money doesn't change its stripes.
  22. Gonna go look at naked boobies on the internet now.
  23. Nobody should have ever expected differently.
  24. Imagine if Boyd and Horton need to be shut down. We'll limp to the finish line.
