  1. Agree their AB's have been worse. If they can only play well loose in April/May they aren't going to do well in the playoffs.
  2. This team has been a sad sack of losers since 2018. This is now 3 seasons in a row with at least a month of this team going through a horrendous lineup-wide offensive slump . Even good teams slump but this is ridiculous, they need to find a way to grind through and stop letting seasons slip away. If this doesn't change soon they may need to ship a couple guys out this winter to change up the lineup. Happ, maybe Seiya. Something needs to change. Win or GTFO. Today in the 8th they were down by 1 run, had men on 2nd and 3rd with 0 outs and couldn't score.
  3. I agree in theory, but he might be better if Seiya and other guys are hitting horribly right now. They may need some more time off or just a mental reset. I don't see any issue with trying something different if our current lineup is in a tailspin.
  4. Morel lit the league on fire when he first came up. Adjustment is likely but i don't think there's a hard and fast rule. PCA was on fire earlier in the year and now he's hitting horribly. Hitters get hot and cold, it doesn't always mean anything significant.
  5. Wouldn't want to upset our incredible hitting right now. heh heh jokes
  6. Cubs are 29th in runs scored the last 30 days (since about the ASB). PCA is hitting .081 in August, .213 OPS. C'mon MVPete! Tucker, Busch, PCA all under .500 OPS in Aug.
  7. This team needs to sack up and win. There's no excuses for the hitters just rolling over and dying in unison.
  8. Cubs are 7.5 games back and the Brewers have scored more runs this year than the Cubs. WTF is happening? If Cubs blow the Brewers series I hope attendance and tv ratings are zero for the rest of the season.
  9. Throw PCA 50 left-handed breaking balls and he'll whiff and chase 50 times.
  10. Would be nice to skip the first round though! Cubs have below average pitching (according to FIP and xFIP) + a top 5 or so defense which combined results in about average run prevention, plus an excellent offense. We're still a good team. The hottest team wins the World Series, not necessarily the best. We were hot in April/May, the Brewers over the last month. Let's get into the playoffs and set things up for us to have the best chance to perform well in the playoffs. Biggest worry for me is the SP like Boyd and Horton who could hit the wall before or during October. Expecting them to perform well over 7 months is insane, let alone 6. Pushing them past what's reasonable risks fatigue and/or injury. If they're going to risk an injured Boyd and/or Horton in 2026 to try to squeeze more wins in 2025 they're fools and it would be an organizational failure. I really believe Boyd and Horton should be removed from the rotation after the Brewers series and given at least a few weeks of significantly reduced workload either in the pen or the minors, with enough time in Sept to ramp up again and get sharp for the playoffs. I'm Verducci rule guy. Boyd could get close to 200 IP at this pace if there's a deep playoff run.
  11. We need a members-only thread on this forum where we can spew endless uncensored profanity when bad things happen on this team.
  12. It's not his fault his players suck. Or maybe it is, I dunno.
  13. It's really hard for your hand or foot to not pop off at some point when sliding into a bag. I think there should be a rule where the pop-off isn't an out when you're initially sliding into the bag. If you overslide or whatnot then that would still be an out.
  14. It's a bad broadcast. When Shaw hit his HR and was trotting from 2nd to 3rd there was a camera man on the field of play between the pitcher and 3rd base frantically trying to film Shaw. Then you have them mic'ing up players during the game while they're trying to do their job. I get its a national broadcast and MLB wants to sell the sport but c'mon.
  15. Tariff of -5 runs when Jays fly back to Canada after a road trip.
  16. Maybe this game gets Busch and some other guys going. Also, Shaw definitely makes too much contact for his own good this year. So many of the balls he puts in play come on pitches that are very hard to square up. Instead of whiffing he hits a clunker somewhere. Sounds like a dull thud off the bat instead of a crack. He needs to be more selective. At least Nico gets the barrel on the ball a lot.
  17. Fine point. Also, Elise Menaker is underrated.
